Nina Dobrev Kat Graham

Sometimes we like to think that stars call each other up before major events, BFF-style, to talk about what they're planning on wearing and how they should coordinate outfits. And while that's probably not the case, our theory still makes total sense given Nina Dobrev and Kat Graham at this weekend's iHeartRadio festival. The two gorgeous Vampire Diaries costars both worked shimmery metallic minidresses at the event, complete with lace overlay and high necks. But wait a sec- the similarities don't end there! Nina and Kat ALSO had peekaboo cutout backs, which they each flaunted on the red carpet. We can always count on the duo to set trends separately, but when we're lucky enough to catch them together? Yep, it's pretty much a stylesetter EXPLOSION.

Grimes Hedi Slimane

Photo: Hedi Slimane Diary

Many of us were something just short of aghast when Hedi Slimane announced that he would be using his power as creative director of legendary fashion house Yves Saint Laurent to stage a complete overhaul of the brand, starting with the most sacred of signifiers: the name. It would be called Saint Laurent Paris--a small change, but a significant one--and people scratched their heads a little bit, but as time has passed have come to accept that a new age of YSL is upon us. There have been reports that the new SLP will include expanded ready to wear, MANY more stores, and a younger, fresher feel, and Slimane's extracurricular activities support those theories. Outside of creative directing, Slimane has been photographing magazine and album covers from ultra cool, slightly grungy pretty young things Grimes and Sky Ferreira (not to mention those incredible photos of Frances Bean Cobain). He shot the cover for Sky's Ghost EP and Grimes' Dazed & Confused cover, and has now been posting atmospheric, beautiful shots of the Canadian musician on his blog, Hedi Slimane Diary. Could Slimane's fondness for edgy, street wise ladies be an indicator of the direction the new Saint Laurent Paris will take? Are there SLP snapbacks and nameplates in our future? Check out more of Slimane's photos after the jump and form your own theories.

aubrey plaza, miu miu

Aubrey Plaza in 'It's Getting Late'.

Reason #1032 we're obsessed Miu Miu: besides the clothes (duh), the Italian label always shows love to Hollywood's brightest ingenues... often times before anyone else. From Hailee Steinfeld to Mia Wasikowska, Miu Miu's been seriously in tune with our girl crushes the past few seasons, letting the actresses show their stuff in the quirky-cool ad campaigns. But this season the brand is trying something a little different with a series of short fashion films called The Miu Miu Women’s Tales, and yes, they're awesome. The fourth installment just hit the internet and stars some of our favorite actresses as L.A. women leading vastly different lives. Think Patricia Clarkson as a film editor, ex-Bond girl Gemma Arterton as a young mother, and Aubrey Plaza as a blogger. And all of them, it should go without saying, are IMPECCABLY dressed.

Carly Rae Jepsen album

The cover art for Carly Rae Jepsen's album 'Kiss.'

"Call Me Maybe" is one thing, but are you ready for an ENTIRE album stocked with so catchy-it-kind-of-hurts tracks? Um, duh. Better start practicing your karaoke skills, because Carly Rae Jepsen's record Kiss officially drops today in the U.S. and features 15 more pop anthems guaranteed to be our (not so) guilty pleasure. She's already shown her '80s love in her newest single "This Kiss," and now the singer has yet another homage to the era up her sleeve...this time, with her cover art fashion. We're getting a serious Flashdance-meets-Dirty Dancing kind of vibe with the splashy "Carly Rae Jepsen" font and pink background, but her outfit REALLY seals the deal. From the oversized tee (sleeves rolled, natch), bow belt, and blue miniskirt, it's clear somebody's been doing her style research. And further proof that the '80s are back: you can recreate the ENTIRE ensemble wearing- what else?!- American Apparel. See how to channel your own Jennifer Grey after the jump!

Elle Fanning for Lolita Lempicka.
Photo: Courtesy of Parfum Lolita Lempicka

Her sister Dakota may have starred in Marc Jacobs' "Oh Lola" ads last year, but now it's the YOUNGER Fanning, Elle, who's stealing the spotlight with a brand new perfume campaign of her own. The 14-year-old actress is the latest face of "Lolita Lempicka," repping the French beauty brand's classic fragrance. (Pause for a moment to contemplate just HOW similar these two perfume names are...coincidence?! We think not.) With her porcelain complexion, angelic features, and long golden hair, it's no surprise Elle's Virgin Suicides-esque good looks have seriously enchanted the fashion world...ahem, despite the fact that she's not even old enough to have a driver's license yet! Ever since her quirky-cool Marc by Marc Jacobs ads from last year, we've been anxiously waiting to see which big name brand would snatch Elle up next. Now that we've watched the gorgeously haunting fragrance film for "Lolita Lempicka," let's just say some things really are worth waiting for.

Elizabeth Olsen at the 'Liberal Arts' premiere in New York (left) and her leather skirt from ASOS.

Here's the thing about Elizabeth Olsen. The actress (and younger sis of MK&A) quite literally has fashion in her blood, whether she's working it in her sisters' labels or in goods from Mulberry, Chanel, or Pucci. But it's a true testament to her effortless, casual style that Lizzy looks just as awesome in accessible (read: affordable) basics as she does in these red carpet looks. Along with gracing the cover of ASOS magazine, this is the girl who makes denim cutoffs, ratty t-shirts and head scarves look stylish, after all. So it shouldn't come as TOO much of a surprise, then, that the 23-year-old is totally gorgeous at the New York premiere of her new flick Liberal Arts... NOT decked out in designer, but instead wearing two of our favorite fast fashion labels. She looks ladylike in a leather pencil skirt from ASOS paired with a white Topshop blazer and classic strappy sandals. Who knew? It IS possible to score a movie premiere outfit for less than $300.

From the swirling rumors to the official announcement to the actual images, we've been following Lana Dey Rey's H&M campaign every.step.of.the.way. Whew! So now that the behind the scenes clip has officially dropped for the commercial, you didn't think we'd leave you hanging, did you? Yeah, right. The Swedish retail giant has just released a BTS video of the NYC crooner for the brand's upcoming clip, and it's a past-perfect whirlwind of old meets new. H&M may be on the forefront of fast fashion, but leave it to Lana to work the fuzzy peach sweaters, slim denim, and printed separates with her trademark retro touch. Melanie Fiona.
Photo: Universal Republic

I'd like to thank soul sister Melanie Fiona for making my <3 really feel thaaangs. I'd also like to thank her for executing fab fashion-y ferocity. With a penchant for throwing on some Louboutins, giving some major side-eye behind her Prada sunnies, and a perfect MAC pout, homegirl's style game is on point. You go, gurl. Additionally, my face almoooost started to leak when I first saw her latest music video for "Wrong Side of a Love Song", which means she's uber talented because I haven't bawled since Ginger Spice quit the Spice Girls/Britney shaved her head. #TeenTrainwreck So, here's my little present to all of you experiencing post-NYFW depression. Happy Favorite Thangs' Monday, y'all!

DJ Becka Diamond.
Photo: Courtesy of Becka Diamond

Despite Becka Diamond's moody, head-turning numbers (see: her closet overflowing with Rick Owens) and penchant for killer accessories (no pun intended: homegirl loves a good spike-y statement piece), she's not an intimidating side-eye-inducing It Girl. She's a diamond, forrealz. Once upon a time, at probably about 4 a.m., I got the liquid courage to approach/stumble toward Diamond, who was obvi looking all kinds of gothic gorg perched behind a DJ both at some surely hipper-than-thou downtown NYC boite for what I don't remember. #BlameItOnTheAlcohol Ever since then, I've been in head-over-Alex-Wang-heels for Diamond. You've probs seen her giving a good blood-red lipped pout and a smokey eye in many a fashion spread. Or, if you got the coveted invite, spinning grunge-y gems and obscure awesomeness at a slew of exclusive parties. This week, the recent LA transplant launched her very own website, 13:13, featuring immaculate playlists and detailing Diamond's fab fashion-y life and her fab friends. Yeah, we're in <3. I got Ms. Diamond to spill all of the fashion-y beans for this week's Favorite Things, and girllll, they sparkle. Happy NYFW!

Lady Gaga in her London wedding dress look.
Photo: Splash News

A meat dress is shocking, but there's really something about an out of context wedding dress that gets people all riled up. Lady Gaga sported her bridal best to a party celebrating the Paralympic games closing ceremonies, at which both Rihanna and Jay-Z performed, in London last night, and while the gown was certainly not the kind of demure look a lot of women are going for, it was certainly chic. This also isn't the first time Mama Monster has made the rounds in nuptial attire--she wore her mother's wedding dress in the video for "You and I," and was recently spotted trying on dresses with some girlfriends (which of course set the internet all aflutter). The white gown featured a peplum and a train along with the aforementioned super revealing sweetheart (and then some) neckline, and although we have no word yet on who designed the masterpiece, we have some ideas. Gaga also paired the gown with a veil-turned-turban, a veeery interesting accessory if we do say so ourselves.

There's something very Madonna about the look, which, although it looks nothing like the material girl's notorious 1984 VMA dress, it's the attitude that's similar. Nothing like going out on a night on the town in a dress that would typically be worn on a more serious, albeit still joyful, occasion.

What do you think of Lady Gaga's wedding gown?
