A still from Nicki Minaj's video for 'Lookin' A** N****'
Photo: Young Money/World Star Hip Hop
Last Friday, Nicki Minaj posted a series of pictures on Instagram that showed off her natural 'do, which was pulled back into a long, slick ponytail. But this wasn't just your average, pasty-flashing selfie that we've come to expect. Thanks in part to a stacked rack of designer clothing and the background presence of a glam squad, we got the vibe that something big was coming. Today, that vibe finally reached a fever pitch as Minaj debuted her latest music video (via World Star Hip Hop) for "Lookin' A** N*****."
"Short hair, don't care. (!!!)" - Taylor Swift
Photo: @taylorswift's Instagram
Last night, Taylor Swift got her hair cut, and judging from her Instagram, it was an EVENT. It seems like just yesterday Taylor was flipping her hair every which way during her dramatic Grammy performance. Now that image is nothing more than a distant memory because Swift is reinvigorating THE haircut of 2013: The Chop, also known as The Karlie. In the midst of her international Red Tour, T. Swizzle took a moment Tuesday evening to show off her new, chin-length 'do on Instagram. "London, I could never thank you enough. See you next time! PS: short hair, don't care. (!!!)," she captioned the photo (of a photo?), which also features one of her best friends (a pool that just keeps growing and growing), Ellie Goulding.
Lydia on 'Teen Wolf.'
If you're still weeping/shaking/holding loved ones close after last night's Teen Wolf, join the club. Poor Stiles! Poor Sheriff Stilinski! Poor Scott, Allison, Lydia, and Isaac, who had to go to school after no sleep! Since I'm not entirely equipped to discuss supernatural beings, this post will focus on something I am capable of talking about: hair.
You may have noticed that Lydia was mysteriously absent in last week's episode—well, I think I know where she was was: watching hair tutorials on YouTube. Her hair game was SO on-point last night. Her first look was an ~updated~ ponytail, which looked straightforward from the front, but then, she turned around and—BAM—it's an entirely different story. The ponytail hangs to the side and is wrapped around itself. Sure, it's messy, but in a chic way. If my hair looked like that one day in my life, I'd be happy. And take a lot of pictures.
Kristen Stewart + Nicolas Ghesquiere 4EVA

In the latest issue of Marie Claire, cover girl Kristen Stewart really lets her hipster flag fly. She reads some of her original poetry, lounges around in Vans and dog tags, casually talks about modernist literature...you know the drill by now. But then suddenly, somewhere between the sneakers and Steinbeck, she gets to talking about Nicolas Ghesquiere (creative director of Louis Vuitton, formerly of Balenciaga). As she tells the tale of her introduction to the designer and the world of high fashion in general, it reads more like a romance novel meet-cute than anything else. Check out what she had to say (along with some imagined romantic subtext on my end, identified in italics):
"I did a photo shoot with Bruce Weber when I was 14 for Interview magazine. I met Nicolas Ghesquiere."
Kristen pauses, flipping her auburn bed-head to the other side, switching her part—a nervous tick when interviewers come close to striking an emotional chord. She looks off into the distance, lost in the memory of that chance meeting with Nicolas. A delicate and knowing glimmer flashes in her green eyes, though it disappears just as quickly.
It's Brunette-ney, b****! (Heh.) Over the weekend, Britney Spears shared a photo of herself that, at first glance, appeared to be some new promo for her Fantasy Remix perfume collection. "Spice up Valentine’s Day by getting ‘Naughty & Nice’ ((pun intended)) ," Spears tweeted while posing backstage at her Las Vegas vanity. But wait—that's not the same dark fringed wig she wore in the ads. In fact, we're pretty sure that's not a wig at all. And this isn't even an (official) ad. Could it be?! Britney's gone back to brunette, y'all!
Azealia Banks on the cover of 'Galore.'
Photo: Rony Alwin for Galore Mag
Azealia Banks (times three!) is on the cover of Galore's brand new Music & Friendship Issue. And, rather than having you traipse all over town to round up three different covers, as many mags do, Galore has given us three Azealias for the price of one. Multiple images means multiple outfits, which, maybe, should be the new cover standard?
The A.Z. front-and-center wears a metallic crop top and matching skirt, which, surprisingly, are not sold together but are the creations of two different companies: That's Totally Fine and This Is A Love Song. Along with coordinating metallics, the MC also shows off her affinity for pasties for the cover with some 3-D butterflies (and very little else). We've seen a lot of pasties in our day, but it's been a while since we've seen any that would mess with the drape of your shirt. (Side note: There are so many pasties in the world, y'all.)
Good news, everyone! It's Fashion Week again, and that means two things for us at MTV Style: street style and Jarvis Derrell. Last NYFW, we had Jarvis break down his fave street style looks the #shehashadit way, and we're bringing him back to do it again. I mean, how could we not? We pick up all our best hashtags from Jarvis, and after reading his posts, you too will be #EDUCATED. Below is his Day One dispatch, check back all week for more!
Yaaaaaaaassssss, Kiesha, yaaaaaaasssss!!!! Guuuurrrrlll, YUUUPPP, it's that's time again!!! The full frontal "my body is a canvas, therefore my eyes are dead" straightforward glance into oblivion, and the crown jewel of poses, the "broken baby-doll, heavy clutch, hard life, where am I" pose!!!!! EKKKKK, Kiesha, I'm just so excited gurl!!! #shesabouttohaveit #putonyourbestlisafrank #runtolincolncenter #illbethere #livingforallofit #nojudgement #justlove #haha #sorta #namaste
The U.S. Olympic Team and a mysterious snow woman.

If you livestreamed the Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony, you were probably unable to focus on Team USA's patriotic Ralph Lauren sweater ensembles due to a mysterious woman who was walking in front of them. Decked out in white and wearing an extremely ornate headpiece, she caused quite a commotion on Twitter. It wasn't because they were wearing white after Labor Day but because no one (with the exception of the Russians) had any idea who these ladies were or why they were dressed like extras from this SNL sketch. With the power vested in us (by Googling Russian fairy tales), let us explain.
Rihanna is often heralded as the queen of transformations, but Nicki Minaj doesn’t get nearly enough credit. Just look how flawless she looks on her recent Instagram spree with her natural hair, straightened and pulled into a tight ponytail, then subsequently into an elegant tri-bun—pretty sure she just coined that last 'do. (Though, Katy Perry's Grammys look comes pretty close.)
