Emma Watson on the cover of 'Elle.'
Photo: Elle Magazine
When you think of cowgirl-chic fashion, several celebrities probably come to mind immediately. Dolly Parton, obviously. Or maybe her goddaughter Miley Cyrus, especially with her recent MTV Unplugged wardrobe. But you prooobably don't think of Emma Watson...ever. The brainy British actress is more Shakespeare than Stagecoach, for sure. But she totally has us fooled on her new Elle cover, where she looks as comfortable in her Western-inspired outfits as any ranch hand we've ever seen (which, granted, isn't many, but go with us here). She IS still Emma Watson, though, so of course she mixes her signature poise and style with the subtle country feel of the shoot. She starts with a double denim exas tuxedo (designer-made, natch), and the inside photos feature even more down-home flair.
Iggy is not going to school, believe it or not.
Photo: Getty Images
With the 2014 Woodies Festival mere hours away at SXSW, we can barely wait to see what Iggy Azalea has planned, wardrobe-wise. On Tuesday, Iggy tweeted that her costumes would be serving up some schoolgirl realness, and we know when Iggy does a theme, she does it hard (see: Halloween, the video for "Fancy"). In anticipation of her outfit, we figured we'd see what she'd look like in some schoolgirl inspired outfits other stars have worn. She has, of course, already given us a preview of what she looks like in a cheerleading uniform and Clueless attire (both school-ish...), but these are some different styles. Let's take a look.
How much does Rihanna's necklace weigh, TBH?
Photo: Splash News
It's no secret that Rihanna is all about #phreshofftherunway looks. She's also all about pieces that are #CCcertified AND has shown an affinity for oversized accessories in the past. Thus, a necklace that made its grand debut just last week at Chanel's Fall 2014 runway show is obviously an ideal accessory. Especially if it's a lock so big that it could secure a yacht.
Rihanna must've called dibs on the padlock necklace last week as she was making friends/posing for scrapbook photos during Paris Fashion Week, and Uncle Karl must've hooked her up. Between the gold bike chain and the size of the lock, Rih's neck must be exhausted. What kind of exercises are needed to prepare your neck for such a weighty accessory? Is this called a LOCKet? I have a lot of questions.
Little Mix on 'MTV Live!'
Photo: @mtv's Instagram
MIXERS! Are you out there? Are you breathing? (If not, please have someone check your pulse.) Are you still spinning from Little Mix's whirlwind, 30-minute "Live From MTV" special? Because we are! Yesterday, Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall, Jesy Nelson, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock (aka Little Mix) all sat down with MTV for some fun, games, and a lot of juicy dish.
Along with their X Factor buddies, Fifth Harmony, the UK girl group has spent the last month opening for Demi Lovato's Neon Lights tour, and as expected, there was plenty of behind-the-scenes girl talk to tell. For example: What did they all think when Demi shaved the side of her head??? OBVIOUSLY, the general consensus was something along the lines of "she looks SO hot." Duh.
Lorde is teaming up with MAC.
Photo: Getty Images
If you’ve ever wanted Lorde’s vampy beauty look, here’s your chance: Our favorite teen goth singer is collaborating with MAC Cosmetics on a limited-edition makeup line that drops this summer (#summergoth). Speaking about the collaboration, Lorde told The Cut, “I have loved MAC Cosmetics since I was a little kid. I remember saving up to buy my very first MAC lipstick [Snob] at 14, and it was used by about 20 of my friends! MAC has a very clear aesthetic, that has always felt fashion forward to me. So I was really excited to work with them on these products, which I use pretty much every day and night. I hope you will too.”
Little Mix for 'Fabulous.'
Photo: Fabulous Magazine
Most bands are lucky to land a single magazine cover in the course of their career. Little Mix has already snagged five—in one month. NBD. All in a day's work for the UK girl group, who just released a spandex-tastic music video for "Word Up!," a cover of Cameo's original funky jam from 1986. The song was recorded for the BBC Sport Relief campaign, which raises money for underprivileged children with support from artists and athletes. But the quintuple Fabulous covers? Yeah, those were all for the fans. (I think the appropriate response here is: "Word UP.")
Lauren Conrad with her new and old hair.
Photos: Getty Images
In the YouTube hair tutorial circles that I run in, Lauren Conrad is a hair god. She was the OG of braided bangs, showing off her braiding skills on The Hills. She was riding the ombre train way before it was a ~thing~, she dabbled in "Bardot bangs" and pink tips last spring, and, generally, she just has totally enviable, beachy waves. As an expert in all things related to LC's hair, imagine my complete shock when, yesterday, she debuted a shorter and sleeker new 'do! So long, curling iron. Welcome back, flat iron. If Lauren is into straight hair, I'm into straight hair (JK, but not really).
Be Bey's twin.
Photo: Splash News/Topshop
Beyonce and her Mrs. Carter Show tour have been K-I-L-L-I-N-G it in the onstage wardrobe department. Her sparkly bodysuits and badass moto jackets are just adding to the already overflowing pile of reasons why Bey is Queen of our Fashion Universe. But even royals have to step out of their Versace originals every once in a while—you know, to level with us mere mortals. And what could be more relatable than strutting the streets of London in off-the-rack duds?
Nicki relaxing (LOL, get it?).
Photo: @nickiminaj Instagram
While Nicki Minaj is obviously not averse to posting revealing photos to Instagram (see: Halloween pasties, spring collection pasties, a majority of the selfies she posted in 2013), the series of photos she posted yesterday was not merely for insight into how she showers (though that's valuable knowledge also, IMHO). The photos were multipurpose and well-executed: They grabbed your attention because she's shirtless, and clearly she's still off wigs/ into her natural hair. Also, these photos announced that *drumrollll* she might have a new line of hair-care products coming out. Most of my Instagrams are like, "Look, I have a friend." I need to step my IG game up, it seems.
YUP. These photos contain way more than a topless woman. Let's break it down.
Shailene Woodley on the cover of 'The Hollywood Reporter.'
Photo: The Hollywood Reporter
Thanks to the Divergent franchise, the next Young Adult series poised to be a may-jah hit, Shaliene Woodley is, The Hollywood Reporter contends, likely to be the next Jennifer Lawrence. *ducks for cover from Hunger Games fans* She's got the photo poses down and the pixie (which she had before J.Law, BTW), but she also has a completely different approach to Hollywood and, like, living than most young women who grace the covers of magazines. When in L.A., for instance, "she lugs five-gallon carboys up in the mountains to capture her own drinking water." She doesn't, and will never, shop at Kitson. Every word to come out of her mouth is totally captivating. I've never even been camping but now, because of Shailene, I am considering giving up all my possessions and moving into the closest forest. I will bring this interview as a guide.
