"Can Young Money borrow a cup of sugar?"
Photos: nickiminaj's Instagram
So Nicki Minaj just posted a series of selfies on Instagram, where she looks fresh-faced and all natural on set with the abbrev "WYD"? What we doing, Nicki? Well, we been speculating. Our girl has been rocking the red carpet circuit with a succession of looks that are subtle, chic, and sophisticated. Instead of the cartoonish couture of yesteryear, Minaj has been wearing her natural hair instead of wigs and toned down makeup. This might be a response to her becoming a bonafide mainstream movie star, or maybe reflecting a profound sense of maturity that comes with the sense of her junior release, currently titled The Pink Print. Nicki's returning back to her hip-hop roots both musically and visually, and if her "Lookin' Ass" video is anything to go by, this might be a continuation of that.
What this low-key look is for, we still don't know. Minaj revealed in the caption of one of the photos that she's shooting a video, but that's it. That's it and we need more. I wish she'd just give me the deetz and, more important, drop a new video into my life. But if that can't happen, maybe she'd tell me where she got those clear-heeled wedges she posted two days so I can cop a pair for myself. Those are most certainly not low-key.
What season is it? It doesn't matter!

In this day and age, it is very easy to check the weather. There are myriad options, from Weather Puppy, an app that provides a picture of a puppy along with the temperature, to your run-of-the-mill Weather Channel app. If you're old-fashioned, you can look out the window. If you're famous, you can ask your assistant/hair stylist/makeup artist/chef/millions of Twitter followers what it's like outside. Considering all the constantly updated weather information out there, I am baffled by the outfit Lady Gaga wore yesterday. TRULY BAFFLED.
Obviously, it's not out of the ordinary for Lady Gaga to wear an, um, unusual outfit. We've seen her carry a claw, wear white powder all over her body, and dress in an outfit made from coffee filters. We've even seen her wear another iteration of this plaid shirt/no pants outfit before (a few times, actually). My issue, however, is not with her lack of pants, but with the fact that she wore tights on a day that it was 75 degrees in New York. Tights weather is officially over, Gaga—embrace it!
Someone made her his Aprodite. Perry is muse, collaborator and goddess in "Katy Aprodite".

What do Katy Perry, Tyler, the Creator, and "Weird Al" Yankovic have in common?
All three, along with a bizarro roster of rockstars, have done covers of “Daisy Bell (Bicycle Built for Two),” a song written in 1892 by Harry Dacre. Chances are—unless you’re a time-traveler—you haven’t heard the song since watching 2001: A Space Odyssey. The song appears in its many iterations on Mark Ryden’s album The Gay Nineties Old Tyme Music: Daisy Bell. Ryden's a pop surrealist best known for album covers for the likes of Michael Jackson (Dangerous), Red Hot Chili Peppers (One Hot Minute), and most recently, Tyler, the Creator (Wolf).
All profits from record sales will be donated to Little Kids Rock, a nonprofit that works with public schools in disadvantaged neighborhoods in order to ensure that ALL students have access to music education. Currently, all copies of copies of Ryden's album are now sold out (bummer). Fingers crossed for another pressing.

If you've ever dyed your hair an ~unnatural~ color, you know the challenge that comes with trying to maintain vibrancy. Katy Perry, it seems, has decided not to fight the inevitable, but embrace it—at least in her life off-stage. As you probably know, before her Prismatic World Tour kicked off, Katy dyed her hair "slime green." Her hair was bright at various events—even at Coachella—but it seems that Katy, like any plebe, has given up on keeping it florescent. It simply requires too much work if you're into showering more than, like, once a week, TBH. For her performances, though, Katy has found the perfect way to keep it as bright as ever.
Rihanna in her self-dubbed "#ghettogoth" style.

Rihanna's never been one to shy away from a trend. Since her debut, she's switched up her style at the drop of a hat. She's gone from girlish pop star during her "Pon de Replay" days, to emphasizing her island roots in "Rude Boy," to the style chameleon we know now, who changes wigs and outfits on what seems like a weekly basis. Her current look, however, seems to be creating some waves. Rih has been tagging tweets and Instagram photos (RIP, we miss you, @badgalriri!) using the hashtag "#ghettogoth" since last fall. The most recent of these "#ghettogoth" looks was her appearance at last month's iHeartRadio Music Awards, where, in an all-black ensemble and bantu knots, she seemed to channel Jada Pinkett Smith from The Matrix.
While many people are intrigued by her new ~lewk~, Venus X—a New York-based DJ—is not amused. Venus, along with Hood by Air designer Shayne Oliver, has been throwing GHE20G0THIK parties since 2009. According to Venus, the parties were an intersection of aesthetics and politics wrapped up in an all inclusive package that welcomed everyone on the LGBTQ spectrum. In the wake of Rihanna's "#ghettogoth" look and various news outlets crediting the singer for the new style, Venus has come after Rihanna, claiming that she’s “collect[ed] all the coin” and credit for a personal brand that she didn't create.

For someone who usually sticks to a black-and-white color palette, Janelle Monae has found an impressive amount of ways to keep her outfits fresh. Point in case: the gigantic pearl ring and necklace she wore to the Chanel Cruise 2015 collection in Dubai. Janelle posted photos of her accessory game to Instagram and it's like nothing I've ever seen before. These pearls are, like, the size of golf balls! Fine, the three in the ring are maybe more like ping-pong balls.
Karlie Kloss and Selena Gomez at the American Ballet Theatre Opening Night Spring Gala.

Selena Gomez is best friends with Taylor Swift, and Karlie Kloss is best friends with Taylor Swift (girl obviously has a lotta best friends), but last night, it seemed as though tangential best friends Selena and Karlie got ready together—y'know, like best friends do—before the American Ballet Theatre Gala in New York City.
You know when you go somewhere fancy and you have no idea what to wear so you make sure all your pals are wearing something similar, just in case? That way even if you're not dressed quite right, you're all not dressed quite right? It was probably exactly like that. We think.
Bella Thorne on the cover of 'Seventeen.'

We still have over a month until summertime *officially* starts, but Bella Thorne is making us want to have a beach day, like, TODAY. In the latest issue of Seventeen magazine, Bella looks sunkissed and gorgeous in her seaside photo shoot, and we can't help wishing we could join her...even if the ocean water is still about 30 degrees.
For her cover photo, Bella wears a colorful striped bikini and cropped palm-print sweatshirt—so maybe she's aware of the too-cool-for-sunbathing temperatures, too? That bright color scheme continues throughout the inside spread, with Bella rocking everything from a cobalt-blue crop top to a lime-green monokini.
Demi Lovato performing 'Neon Lights.'

Demi Lovato is celebrating the #Demiversary (one year anniversary, natch) of the release of her last album, Demi, and has big plans for the next month, including new videos and live performances. She just released footage of her Neon Lights Tour in the form of a performance of "Neon Lights," in which we get to see some of her tour wardrobe and, most important, IMHO, how her pink hair looked up on stage. Guess what? No surprise—it looked incredible.
The video was obviously shot towards the end of the tour—Demi has her half-shaved scalp—and between her hair color, style, and embellished coat, she looks pretty tough up there. She also has leather leggings on, which just, like, knocks the entire look out of the park.
Rita Ora performing in London.

Back in March, Justin Bieber and Harry Styles both channeled vintage Calvin Klein–we’ll let you guess who did so while wearing significantly less clothes. Clue: He is fashion. Now, Rita Ora is officially making the look a trend. At her London show over the weekend, the singer started out her performance in a Robert Palmer-inspired black suit and tie and ended in a Calvin Klein bra and underwear.
Ora has always been a #FASHUN risk-taker–it’s one of the things we love about her most–so we’re not exactly surprised to see her sport this throwback CK look. In fact, just last week Rita was captured in her underwear on Iggy Azalea’s Instagram–though that picture might have been a surprise to her seeing as Iggy’s caption was “#lurklife.” This time Rita was fully in charge of her stripped-down look.
