Carey Mulligan in Flaunt.
Photo: Flaunt Magazine
We're seriously running out of words to describe the opulent, flawless style Carey Mulligan has been rocking lately to promote her equally-extravagant new film The Great Gatsby, but the actress' brand new spread in Flaunt Magazine—while still lavish—lacks any hint of the film's roaring '20s vibe. We love yuh, Gatsby, and we DEFINITELY LOVE Catherine Martin's costumes, but this is a welcome change. Carey poses in The Fabrication Issue in a variety of looks ranging from elegant and simple to artful and directional. Our favorite part of her look? Mulligan sports a severe, hard-edged bob with baby bangs that look veritably sculpted to her head. This fashion-friendly take on helmet hair is nothing like the more unfortunate looks at elementary school picture day. Trust. In our favorite ensemble from the shoot, Carey looks almost Victorian in an ultra-structured white gown with roses blooming from the neckline and an enormous bejeweled choker that resembles the branches of a gnarled old tree. Her makeup is understated and even mutes her features somewhat, with super light eyebrows and pale lips washing her out, but not completely.
Miley Cyrus scores #1 on 'Maxim' Hot 100 list.

Let's all give it up for Miley Cyrus, you guys! In between fanning Met Ball rumors and nabbing consecutive covers for ELLE UK and V magazines last week, the singer has managed to land herself the coveted #1 spot on Maxim's Hot 100 list! Seriously, though, this is NO easy task. Each year the men's publication pits hotties from the music, film, and fashion worlds against each other, and this time around, Miley (and her Smilers, obviously) stole 2012's crown right out from under model Bar Rafaeli. Not that this pop star really needs to prove her hotness, or anything. I mean, can we all talk about this photo above?! Posted over the weekend, the image shows her channeling a Bond girl bombshell in a metallic gold swimsuit, tons of glimmering jewelry, and sultry, straight-on gaze. She may have been #68 on the list just last year, but Miley's come a long way since then... that's for sure.
Cara Delevingne is Miss 'Vogue''s first cover girl!
Photo: Via British 'Vogue'
The secret's out, y'all! British Vogue officially has a cool little sister in the newly-launched Miss Vogue magazine. And let's be honest—who better to front the glossy's debut issue than Cara Delevingne? After some Twitter teasers this week about the mystery cover girl, today is the day we can finally feast our eyes on Cara in ALL her pretty, pink glory. The notorious industry goofball, onesie queen, and 2012's Model of the Year is smiling wide in bold red lipstick and dressed in a custom Topshop Unique ensemble. The 20-year-old has been a longtime favorite of the U.K. retail giant, walking in the Fall/Winter runway show as well as being a key player in the brand's tech-savvy catwalk production. While Topshop's boundary-pushing goods are nothing new, here Cara's throwing back to the ultimate middle school style trick by layering her sequined cami over the basic gray crewneck (remember those days?!).
Miley Cyrus for "V" Magazine.

We may STILL be reeling off of Miley Cyrus' TWO ELLE UK covers, but the platinum pixie-headed girl isn't stopping there on her quest to plaster her mug all over your newsstands. Hot on the heels of the ELLE UK release, V Magazine has revealed Billy Ray's little girl as their Summer 2013 cover girl. Not once, not even twice, but THREE. TIMES. *wipes sweat from upper lip* PHEW!
Behold, Miley Cyrus' second 'ELLE' UK cover.

We thought it couldn't get much better than Miley Cyrus' killer ELLE UK cover, which dropped last week and shows the singer giving major face in a Lanvin blazer (and not much else). But you guys, it just did! A second cover circulated over the weekend, courtesy of her very own Twitter, and proves what we've always known— it's impossible to have too much Miley in our lives. The pop star blasted the black and white image out online to her nearly 12 million followers on Friday with the caption, "@ELLEUK sometimes covers are hard to pick. Guess well just go with 2 covers! #2isbetterthan1." That's for sure. Featuring a nude Miley with her eyes closed, Saint Laurent necklace held to her lips, this achromatic portrait is a definite contrast to the in-your-face fierceness of the first. The photo might be minimalist, but nobody can deny it's JUST as dramatic.
A$AP Rocky in the May issue of 'GQ.'

It's no surprise we have a thing for A$AP Rocky. Not only does that PMF have a GORGE smile and two killer albums under his belt, but he also has a serious affinity for fashion. *heart melts* He's been pretty candid about his obsession with certain designers, and it looks like mainstream fashion mags are (finally!) starting to pick up on A$AP's sartorially-savvy self. In the May issue of GQ, A$AP traded in his black leather and gold ensembles for something a bit more summery--yacht clothing. I know, I know, you're like, "A$AP Rocky? In nautical wear? How can it be?" But trust us--it happened, and it's UH-MAZING.
Sure, we've been fans of Willow Smith's style since, well, as long as this blog has existed, but recently we've been shifting our sartorial gaze toward her 14-year-old brother, Jaden. On the red carpet, he and his sister have been pulling out ALL the stops with their (sometimes coordinating!) fash-forward ensembles, and when he's not starring in blockbuster movies, he's working on his own clothing collection, MSFTSREP. Today, Jaden is officially making the transition into stylish magazine spreads, and we're obsessed with the couture skater look from his most recent shoot with Wonderland magazine. He sported a graphic rose print sweater by one of our personal faves, Katie Eary, paired with a black hoodie from his own MSFTSREP collection and baggy Monkee Genes pants. He finished the look with a set of silver rings, blonde tips, and his signature eyebrow raise.
Adele on the May issue of 'ELLE.'

No joke, we were in the middle of reading a piece about Adele's potential wedding dress (it might be designed by Jenny Packham!) when this GORGEOUS ELLE magazine cover landed in our inbox. We were all, "OMG, OMG, OMG," until we realized she's also rotating covers with Rita Ora and Alicia Keys for the May Women in Music issue. Yasss! For Adele's look, they decided to amp up her soft-yet-stunning retro glamor vibe by shooting in the iconic EastWest Studios, which is famous for recording Frank Sinatra's greatest hits. Her black lace Alberta Ferretti dress was the perfect backdrop against her STUNNING beauty game—a killer bouffant with a soft smoky eye, nude lips, and a touch of shimmery bronzer. Perf!
"True Grimes" in 'Style.com/Print.'

The last edition of Style.com/Print saw Cara Delevingne working a striking lipstick-smudged mouth on its cover, and now the mag's returned with a slick new issue featuring another one of our favorites. This time it's Grimes, who shows off her fashion stuff in designer duds by Altuzarra and Jeremy Scott and fills the publication in on life when she's not on the road. Photographed in her home in Vancouver (literally, in her house!), this "True Grimes" spread stars the musician chilling on the cluttered counter and lounging in bed... with her teddy bear, no less. Proving that her endearing humility and effortless style is no act, Claire Boucher remarks to writer Jonathan Durbin that despite sitting front row at shows like Chanel last season, she's still sort of a fashion newbie. In fact, she says, "I had never read fashion magazines until I was in them." Wait, what?!
Grimes for'Hunger' magazine.

You hear that? That sound is just the undeniable buzz that zips around the MTV Style HQ whenever one of our faves like Grimes, Rita Ora, or Iggy Azalea finds herself firmly planted upon some glossy prime real estate. But now that that all THREE emerging stars have landed themselves individual covers for HUNGER magazine, this buzzy feeling has morphed into a bonafide EXPLOSION that practically crackles right off of the screen. Publications are quickly learning that one way to sell issues like hotcakes (or, in this case, concert tickets) is to produce multiple covers and often with more than one star. So perhaps taking cues from Teen Vogue's success with all five of its One Direction covers, HUNGER upped the ante with seven different editions for Spring/Summer 2013, each featuring a different rising female artist. Yes, you read that right...seven! In addition to Grimes, Rita, and Iggy, Jessie J, A*M*E, Gabrielle Aplin, and Crystal Renn all landed smack dab on an issue and repping a style that's undeniably her own. Editor-in-chief Rankin handpicked each of the girls himself, explaining, “I had begun to notice a pattern emerging in film and fashion, but most notably in music; where people (most obviously, young women) were taking control of their creative lives and output in a way I hadn’t seen before,” he said. So the natural step was to put them on the cover of his magazine, and it's an awesome thing he did.
