Miley Cyrus

Since Love magazine only comes out twice a year, the magazine's covers tend to command a lot of attention. You know who commands a lot of attention wherever she goes? Miley Cyrus. She gets even MORE attention when she changes her hair, which is why the cover of Issue 11 of Love is a big deal. Miley's got a mohawk! And it's pink!

In the past year alone, Jennifer Lawrence won an Oscar, starred in the second installment of the blockbuster Hunger Games series, and became everyone's favorite imaginary BFF. She's refreshingly candid, totally poised, and, thanks to a little help from her stylist, Rachel Zoe, one of the most style-savvy ladies in the game. "I really would not call myself a fashion icon," she told E!. "I would call myself somebody who gets dressed by professionals. [It's like], 'Dance, monkey, dance' right on the red carpet.' I would call me more of a monkey." LOL, girl, you so humble.

Even though she hasn't quite nailed down a signature look yet (unless, of course, you count her racks and racks of Dior as a face of the brand), J. Law continues to kill it with risk-taking gowns, two-pieces, and a variety of silhouettes. In honor of her MAY-JAH year in both film and fashion, we've rounded up our top 10 favorite J. Law style moments of 2013.

JANUARY 11

She doesn't often do graphic prints, but when she does, she does them with really cool matching shoes. In January, back when most of us were reluctantly pulling on parkas and sweater tights, Jennifer showed up at the 2013 AFI Awards in BARE LEGS and a colorful, figure-flattering sheath dress with metallic tweed stripes by Prabal Gurung. Her coordinating cap-toe pumps, which boasted a mirrored heel, mesh straps, and neon-pink piping, came from Gurung's line with Casadei. Sidebar: Remember when her hair was SO LONG?

Katy Perry

Katy Perry on the cover of 'Marie Claire.'
Photo: Marie Claire/Regan Cameron

Katy Perry continues her grunge-gone-light phase on the cover of Marie Claire, wearing a lilac leather jacket, matching skirt, and safety-pin necklace. Her hair is, if you haven't noticed, very black these days. It matches her crop top and smoky eye and is mussed to perfection.

With the exception of her Prismatic performance outfits, which have Katy swaddled in every color at once, KP has been dressing primarily in darker shades (black, bordeaux, black, navy, did we say black?) since starting press for Prism. Maybe she's in mourning for her "California Gurls" alter ego? Or maybe she just likes black? On this cover, though, she's styled in pastels (kinda springy for a January cover, amirite?), and we're reminded of a time not long ago when all she wore were bright colors. Even on her head.

Demi Lovato

Demi Lovato and her blue hair for 'NYLON.'
Photo: 'NYLON' Magazine/Marvin Scott Jarrett

It looks like our dreams of a blue-haired Demi Lovato on the cover of a magazine have come true! Thanks, NYLON: we should've guessed the fave magazine of ~alt girls~ everywhere would give Demi's blue tresses the attention they deserve! Demi debuted her blue 'do a full two months ago and has since graced three magazine covers, but all featured blonde Demi. Now, like an early Christmas present, a blue-haired Demi spread has been wrapped and delivered. So, while it may only be the 2nd day of December, this month is shaping up already.

The color of Demi's hair has faded since she first dyed it (even since it glowed in the "Neon Lights" video, actually). Her dark roots have also grown out, turning it into an enviable colorful ombre. It also looks like she's collecting a number of blue hued highlights around the front of her face, and, TBH, I'd start a blue highlight collection too if it would look like Demi's hair and not a Smurf hibernating on my head. Alas.

Lauren Conrad for 'Cosmopolitan.'
Photos: Cosmpolitan

For the January 2014 issue of Cosmopolitan, Lauren Conrad put on a bunch of super pretty party dresses and dished on the details of her recent engagement to law school student and former Something Corporate rocker, William Tell. Of course, her hair looks perfect in every shot. Like, SO perfect that I'm starting to think the girl MUST be wearing a wig. Not really, but if there are wigs out there that look like LC's hair, then consider me sold.

Anyway, among the many frocks Lauren wears for her shoot are a pink and purple silk dress with a beaded bodice and a canary yellow number that she accessorizes with a pair of red and neon green open-toed heels. Yes, the color scheme might seem a bit unconventional, but Conrad's confidence (and again, really great hair) makes the whole thing look seamless.

justin-bieber

Justin Bieber for 'The Hollywood Reporter.'

Justin Bieber is NOT swaggy. And that has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that the 19-year-old pop star showed up for his interview with The Hollywood Reporter in a bright red onesie. Hey, a dude’s gotta be comfortable for a long, serious sit-down, right?

Despite the fact that some people (including Justin himself up until now) might argue that the Givenchy Pre-Fall 2013 plaid Doberman Pinscher sweatshirt he wears on the cover of the mag is the very definition of "swaggy" (see also: "awesome"), Bieber is no longer defining his look as such. “I'm very influenced by black culture, but I don't think of it as black or white," he says. "It's not me trying to act or pose in a certain way. It's a lifestyle—like a suaveness or a swag, per se. But I don't really like to say the word ['swag'] anymore. It's kind of played out." Welp, that settles it. R.I.P., swag.

One Direction

One Direction on the cover of 'Seventeen' Magazine.
Photo: 'Seventeen' Magazine

When we heard One Direction would be on the cover of Seventeen Magazine's December/January issue, we were, obviously, excited for new photos to adorn our bedroom walls with/glue onto a body pillow to sleep next to. But then, we saw the cover and were like: hold up, Harry's hair hasn't had that beautiful swoosh in, like, almost a year. Liam and Zayn haven't been this clean shaven for months! Do these five guys have Benjamin Button syndrome or what? Then, after racking through our encyclopedic knowledge of all 1D photo shoots in the history of the world, we realized we'd seen this photo before!

Selena Gomez

A still from 'Searching,' a short film starring Selena Gomez.
Photo: Flaunt

When we peeped Selena Gomez's Flaunt Magazine spread last week, we were totally digging her blunt bob. Despite our positive feelings, in the corresponding short film that was just released, it's clear Selena was not feeling her new 'do.

The video begins with Selena in bed, in the same lingerie/skirt combo from the shoot. Also in bed? That shirtless guy! He's known by his family, friends, and fans as Shiloh Fernandez. He plays guitar (shirtless), nuzzles Selena (shirtless), and smiles (shirtless). Just as we were getting used to him, he disappears.

lady-gaga

Lady Gaga for 'Attitude' magazine.
Photo: 'Attitude'

For the December cover of Attitude magazine, Lady Gaga dyed her hair grey, refused to wash it for three weeks and repeatedly rubbed her strands with beeswax like kindling for a fire. JK! She’s wearing another wig. Quite possibly her heaviest wig yet! I mean, just look at that stack. That thing weights at least as much as a Pomeranian, if not a full-grown Corgi. Loyal Little Monsters may recognize this big ol’ heap o’ hair from a rando ARTPOP promo pic that Gaga tweeted back in September, where she was snapped sitting in a chair constructed of computer chips while wearing a burlap onesie. Naturally.

Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence on the cover of 'InStyle.'
Photo: InStyle

Behold pre-pixie Jennifer Lawrence on the cover of the December issue of InStyle. The cover captured J.Law before her major chop and dye job, at a time when, according to the Hunger Games star, her hair was an "awkward length" and "awkward color." Yesterday, during a Yahoo Fireside Chat, Jennifer said she cut it because it "...couldn't get any uglier." It's really not that bad, Jenn! It looks sleek slicked down on this cover and, TBH, we're feeling the "awkward" length, but if you're not happy, we're not happy.

I love these two as a couple. What a festive way to celebrate two important events in their life. Mariah looks like a dream.
