Just when you thought Sex and the City was getting a little too middle-aged for the Jimmy Choo-clad crowd, author Candace Bushnell has come out with “Summer And The City,” a young adult novel based on the titular characters’ first interactions with the city, following a young, senior-year Carrie in the Big Apple. Not only do we love YA novels (especially YA novels about the city in which we live), we love seeing the girls who practically defined ‘90s NYC as unsure, post-teen city dwellers who teeter around town on un-sensible shoes much like the young authors at MTV Style. (There are four of us, TOO…no one calls Miranda, though in reality it would most likely be me. Womp-womp.)
In speaking about her novel, Bushnell says she’d like to see it on the screen. Which means, of course, today's Bright Young Things not only need to embody ICONS, but also the history of being some of the most stylish women (fictional and not) of all time. But can the gals today cut it? The chic lit turned YA novel(ista) thinks so, since she told The Daily Caller about her secret casting visions—not for heroine Carrie, but the young (and presumably pristine) Charlotte. “I’m going to get into trouble for this, but I was looking at some pictures of Selena Gomez today and thinking ’she’d make a really good young Charlotte.” Whoa. Candy, you are so right on; Selena's clean-cut charm practically oozes a slightly less WASP-y Charlotte. (Demure, well-heeled, but exceptionally assembled. Charlotte would applaud young Selena.) To make Hollywood’s job easier as they scrape together a script, we’ve picked the gals who've got the look down pat.
