Florence Welch, Katy Perry, and Carey Mulligan at "Dress Gatsby".
It's unfortunate that the word 'timeless' is so overused, because there are some things that really deserve the designation. Miuccia Prada's designs are one of those truly timeless things, and that fact has never been more apparent than at the opening of "Dress Gatsby" at the Prada flagship store in New York City. Showcasing the 40 dresses costume designer Catherine Martin hand-picked for the pivotal party scenes in The Great Gatsby, the exhibit was a chance for party goers to see some of the modern designs that fit so seamlessly into the period piece, proving that anachronism is truly in the eye of the beholder. Although the gilded gowns were designed in and for the modern day, they don't pull you out of the roaring '20s feel of the film for a moment (at least from what we've been able to gather from the trailer). Also showcasing the sleek lines and delicate details of Prada's designs were some of the event's attendees, who ranged from those intimately acquainted with the Gatsby dresses—the film's star Carey Mulligan—to soundtrack contributor Florence Welch and, of course, celebs who are fans of the label, like Katy Perry, who broke up the crowd clad in minimal black in a graphic, muted purple floral dress with black and white detailing.
Zac Efron on the set of 'Townies.'

Gulp. Zac Efron, guys. If you've been following his every move (like we do, obvs), you might've been wondering/seriously concerned about his out-of-character preppy street style as of late. Don't worry, we can explain. He's been filming a movie called Townies where he plays a college student who runs a frat house, and, well, um, need we say more? We HAVE to talk about his character's ensembles, though, because we love how he isn't a frat boy in the traditional sense (note the lack of cargo shorts), and instead a more fashiony, pretty boy version of campus-dwelling dudes. So far we've only peeped a few outfits from the movie, but we need to comment on his delta psi beta tee. (Yes, we had to Google the Greek alphabet to figure out what those symbols meant. #artschool) He decided to wear it SUPER tight with fitted distressed jeans, navy and yellow Nikes, and—get this—a weed leaf belt. *claps*
It seems pretty fair to say that at some point or another nearly everyone has entertained fantasies of being famous, or, as Israel Broussard's character Marc puts it in the new trailer for The Bling Ring, of "living the lifestyle" of young Hollywood. The clothes, the parties, the supposed freedom of having unlimited wealth and access... it's all extremely appealing, especially when you're a bored high school kid without much more to do than drive around with your friends. In the new trailer, we get to see more of the film than we have before, and to hear some of the dialogue. We also get a look into Paris Hilton's epic shoe closet, and which is like a Manolo enthusiasts heaven. The film is a slick, stylish portrayal of a group of kids who have no idea what's going on in the world, and just want in on something that in reality doesn't exist. With cameos from Paris herself and Kirsten Dunst, it's also clear that director Sofia Coppola pulled out all the stops to make the film as realistic as possible, and that makes us all the more excited to see it come June.
We love The Great Gatsby already, and we haven't even seen it yet. The sartorial gift that keeps on giving, we've been totally enamored of each trailer and snippet of info that we've received in the lead up, and the flow of new and sparkly things doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon. As serious fans of a classically well dressed man, we were quite intrigued when we heard that Brooks Brothers would be working with costume designer Catherine Martin on the costumes for the men in the film. In a new video from GQ, the costume designer goes in-depth about working with the clothier to not only dress the leading men on the screen, but also each of the male extras.
Perhaps by now you've realized that we, the loyal attendants of the MTV Style brain trust, prepare for prom like most prepare for Christmas. Over the past few weeks, we've made it our goal to present you with a carefully curated guide to this one night, THE ultimate high school soiree. However, we feel there are certain parameters we need to discuss. Movies set ridic standards for prom by packing drama, hi-jinx, and MAJOR sartorial showmanship, but there is one aspect of fictional proms that seems slightly overlooked: the entertainment. Have you ever noticed how certain movies feature a prom band that is just a little too famous to be believable? I mean, not to dock the history teacher who moonlighted as a DJ at MY prom, but let's face it, most prom committees just don't have these kind of connections. Let's break it down.
USHER - SHE'S ALL THAT

She’s All That is an insta-classic for several reasons, one of them being the legendary non-sequitur dance scene that takes place at the prom. Usher just so happens to be the "Campus DJ" [Ed Note: a campus which includes LIL KIM amongst its student body, BTW] who, pristinely outfitted in a tux and bowler hat, leads the entire senior class in an impeccably choreographed dance to Fatboy Slim’s iconic big-beat jam, “The Rockafeller Skank." Because we all know that practicing dance routines is exactly what high school students do in their free time. The dance number has ZERO plot-thickening merits, but there is something very satisfying about watching the same R&B superstar who sings “Nice & Slow” preside over a Bob Fosse-inspired skank routine.

Are you awake?! If you're not quite there yet, this image of Emma Watson holding a handgun will DEFINITELY kick your Wednesday morning into high gear. It's a new day, and you know what that means: new Bling Ring deets, you guys! We're still reliving Emma's Trailblazing golden popcorn moment from last weekend's MTV Movie Awards, and admittedly can't get TBR cast's Sneak Peek Week show out of our heads. But now that we've nabbed these movie stills, there's even more reason to be obsessed with the forthcoming Sofia Coppola flick. We've got five brand spanking new images to show you, so LET'S GO!
Emma Watson is all smiles as she talks about her new film.
Could 2013 be the year of the good girl gone bad...for a movie role? We've certainly seen Emma Watson be mischievous and maybe even get a little crazy in her past roles, but if the exclusive MTV Sneak Peek clip of her upcoming film The Bling Ring is any indication, our dear Ms. Watson is about to get a lot badder. If her now infamous in-the-club-body-roll (which we now know is Beyonce-inspired) from the first trailer didn't tip you off, pole dancing in Paris Hilton's "club room" (LOL) definitely should have—our 2013 MTV Movie Awards Trailblazer Award winner is going all out in her new role. And that doesn't just mean in the dance moves department. In her interview with MTV After Hours host Josh Horowitz, Watson revealed that she had to take some sartorial risks for her Bling Ring part as well. "I can't wear this because you can see the bra straps," Emma recalled saying in the dressing room one day, as she looked at the costumes for her character, Nicki. What was her director Sofia Coppola's response? "You really need to reverse your whole world," is what Emma recalls her saying. From then on, the star, who is no slouch in the fashion department, we have to say—she wears some of our favorite looks on the red carpet, bar none—embraced all of the things that her character Nicki loves. From Uggs to neon, to everything in between.

Hopefully you're already WELL AWARE that we're debuting an exclusive clip and chatting with the film's stars Emma Watson, Katie Chang, Israel Broussard, Taissa Farmiga and Claire Julien at 11 PM EST tonight as the final MTV Movie Awards Sneak Peek Week show on MTV.com. So grab your friends, stock up on popcorn, and make room on the couch, because that's going down later, but first, peep the poster for The Bling Ring right here! The brand spanking new teaser image just landed, and it's throwing some MAJOR shade. Five different kinds of shade, in fact, one for each member of the infamous sticky-fingered crew.
The friendzone: it's a real thing, you guys. And while we certainly can't speak for all the dudes and ladies out there, this platonic, perpetual side-hug relationship status is not usually a desirable place to be. At least that's how it is for Toby Miller, the constantly friendzoned protagonist in the new flick Ladies Man: A MADE Movie. Based on the namesake MTV series that helps normal kids achieve their goals of being fashion designers, sports stars, and more with the help of a pro coach, this fictional feature-length special premieres TONIGHT on MTV at 9/8c. So will Toby finally shake his brotherly persona and be transformed into a stud (or, as he so eloquently puts it, "a man whore")? We'll have to tune in to find out! But before all that goes down tonight, we've got a couple of fashion tips right now to help Toby get a head start in his escape out of the friend zone. Ready, set, go!

Breathe, everyone. Get ready. There are A LOT of things we need to talk about with regards to the latest trailer for The Great Gatsby so we want you to be prepared. Baz Lurmann's epic adaptation of the great American novel is one of the most anticipated films of the year, and with its release date rapidly approaching (May 10th, so soon so soon) our excitement is heading into fever pitch territory. We've already learned that the men in the film--none other than the great Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, and Joel Edgerton—will be outfitted by Brooks Brothers, and that the ladies, most importantly Carey Mulligan's Daisy Buchanan, will be dressed by Miuccia Prada. Vogue got their hands on some exclusive sketches of the Prada looks, so naturally we had our eyes peeled for them when the brand new trailer dropped yesterday. Besides featuring a snippet of Beyonce's cover of "Back to Black" by Amy Winehouse, the trailer also has new songs from Lana Del Rey and Florence And The Machine, but the INCREDIBLE soundtrack isn't what we're here to discuss, is it? No, we're here to discuss the AMAZING DRESSES on Carey Mulligan. Deep breaths, it's going to be ok. The trailer features more than SEVEN looks, and those are just the ones we can get a good look at.
A look from The Great Gatsby.
We already know that The Great Gatsby is all about opulence, with the title character's quest for a magical life at the forefront of the narrative, and Mulligan's costumes reflect that desire in their exquisite details and luxurious fabrication. Her first look in the trailer isn't one that we recognize from the Prada sketches, but it could very possibly be one of Miuccia's creations. Dusty purple lace covers Mulligan like a springtime spiderweb, and wisps of fabric bloom from her shoulders like flower petals. While the dress is only visible from the waist up, a blue sash is visible. We're incredibly curious as to the cut of the rest of the dress, and unfortunately the trailer only affords us that one look.
