Hillsie fashion designer/columnist/author/style guru/world leader Lauren Conrad is no stranger to diving head-first into beauty trends (see: dip-dyed hair, ombre nails). I mean, she DOES run an entire website called TheBeautyDepartment.com, where she gives makeup advice, hair tutorials, and even shares her own personal fashion adventures. Her latest endeavor? Mix-and-match nails! Lauren says she was tipped off to this nail trend by the current pattern-clashing happening on the runway and is "thrilled" it's finally making it's way into the beauty world. LC says she's been incorporating mixed prints in her wardrobe for quite some time now and couldn't WAIT to get her hands (heh) on this mismatched nail art. So, how do you think Ms. Conrad measured up? Let's find out!
Sammi and Ronnie are your Jersey Shore Style Champs of the night.
Jersey Shore spoiler alert: Sam and Ronnie are back, and we are filled with a mixture of sad trombones and NO DUHs. But Pauly pointed something out that we never noticed. When Sam and Ron are together, the two both look funereal. Yup, black for both of them, which was evidenced when the boys noticed Ron slipping into his black v-neck, which apparently indicated that Ron is back into "Sweetheart"-mode. And anyone who wears their emotions on their shirt, literally, is our Jersey Shore Style Champ for tonight. In case you didn't know, this is the plan: for each Italy episode, we here at MTV Style use our unimpeachably awesome sartorial judgment to select the best JS style moments of Pauly D., Snooki, The Situation, Sammi, Ronnie, Vinny, Deena and JWOWW, and deem a SINGLE housemate the episode winner.
We factor: commitment to keep everything fresh to death, the struggle of blow-drying your hair on a whole other voltage, the gruesome walk to the gym and any other trials and tribulations our favorite meat heads suffer. And now that we know that we can read Rannie like a BOOK through their clothing, they are the Season 4, Episode 3 style champs. Just...don't be afraid of color, you two...

Snooki. Snookers. Snookalicious. Pull up a chair next to Momma MTV Style for a hot sec. We want some real talk on this road you’re headed down right now, girl. Don’t worry, it isn’t a bad thing. We just...well, we’re beginning to think that you’re poised to be, like, the Jessica Simpson of the Jersey Shore or something! May the fashion gods strike us down with diamond-encrusted lightning bolts if that's a totally blasphemous thing to say, but minus the whole not-starting-out-with-a-record deal thing, your foresight to leverage this reality TV stardom into a career as a designer/businesswoman is very J.Simp-esque. First, it was the faux-sneaker slippers. Then, you expanded your footwear empire to flip-flops and wedges. Just last week, we caught wind of your scent, and now NOW, you’re dishing deets on a line of sunglasses?!

In case you missed it, there's an absolutely HI-LARIOUS bonus clip from last week's Jersey Shore of Vinny trying (key word: trying) to give Ronnie a haircut. He busted out the electric razor to help his roomie out, but SPOILER ALERT: It turns out badly. So bad, in fact, Pauly D walks in mid-razor cut and says, "Why you giving him them bald spots, bro?" Yeah. THAT bad. Ronnie continues to refer to his hair disaster as the "Friar Tuck" cut from then on out, and confines himself to the kitchen and wears nothing but robes for the rest of the time he's in Italy. OK, that last part was totally made up, BUT we're betting Vinny feels bad, right? I mean, at least a little? Well, yesterday he was in NYC giving passersby "fresh to death" makeovers and put that razor to use once again. Perhaps to prove that he does, in fact, know how to use clippers effectively? We'll never know his reason, but let's just hope this time it turns out a teensy bit better than Ronnie. *crosses fingers*
Lauren Conrad for Kohl's.

Oh my gahhh, is summer over already?! HRMPH. Well, just as we were beginning to dust off our lace-up booties and wool capes, Hillsie Lauren Conrad brightened up our mood by releasing the LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl's back-to-school 2011 lookbook! YUSSS. Suddenly the prospect of crisp autumn mornings just became a whole lot more enjoyable now that we have some killer outfits to wear. After her adorbs, floral-inspired summer collection and girly spring line, we knew she'd BRING IT for the colder season, hopefully with a hint of edginess like she did in fall 2010. So, we take a gander and ask: did LC deliver?

It seems DJ Pauly D may have taken his victory as our "Style Champ of the Night" from last week's episode of Jersey Shore to heart. By the looks of the fluorescent getup he sported whilst spinning at an enchanted lingerie masquerade in Las Vegas (as most Vegas lingerie masquerades are wont to be) this weekend, Pauly might have taken his crowning as a green light (haha, GET IT?!) to raise the stakes and get a little more adventurous. That's not to say we think he's swearing off graphic tees or anything (I mean, HELLO! That's, like, all his clothing line Dirty Couture is, pretty much!), but we're definitely keeping a close fashion eye on him. Inspired by this audacious display (and because we're really helpful and stuff), we've rounded up what you'll need to mimic Pauly's look.
Pauly D. is our Jersey Shore Style Icon of the Night.
While we didn't have any ZOMG SUITCASES moments in tonight's episode of Jersey Shore, we forgot how cleeeeeeean it gets when our favorite fist pumpers just go out and get down. And no one does fresh to death quite like DJ Pauly D. So we gleefully anoint our second Jersey Shore Style Champ for Season 4. In case you didn't know, this is the plan: for each Italy episode, we here at MTV Style use our unimpeachably awesome sartorial judgment to select the best JS style moments of Pauly D., Snooki, The Situation, Sammi, Ronnie, Vinny, Deena and JWOWW, measure them in a fair and shrewdly scientific manner (we eyeball it and go with our guts, sometime there is production assistant bloodshed but so it goes...), and deem a SINGLE housemate the episode winner.
We factor: commitment to fashion in the faraway, medieval (did you SEE that coffee grinder?) land of Italy, GTL-isms and any other trials and tribulations our strangers-in-a-strange-land cast members endure. And after seeing the way The Situation keeps his kicks...well, Pauly D. is a shoe-in for Season 4, Episode 2 Style Star. Badum.
Snooki is launching a fragrance this fall.

If pickle flip-flops, brass knuckle bracelets, sneaker slippers, and leopard print nails weren't ENOUGH ways to get Snooki-fied, the Jersey Shore star is launching her first fragrance this fall. We foresee a round, meatball-esque bottle with a big, colorful bow on top, but judging by her GMA appearance this morning, the newly sleek-haired mini mogul might be turning a bit more serious. Either way, the smell and name on her fragrance are yet to be determined. But Snooks, GUESS WHAT? We thought of some ideas for you! I knowwww. We are SO NICE. (Psst, hire us!)
Deena explaining the double-bra.
This afternoon's live edition of the Jersey Shore Hook-Up was just about as rife with gems as last night's Italy season premiere. The biggest and most educational of these being the girls' jaw-dropping reveal of "The Double-Bra." The secret (UNTIL NOW) practice is pretty self-explanatory. In an effort to accentuate their ladylumps, the girls wear two bras, one on top of the other. The topic was brought on by a viewer question aiming to clarify why Sammi has been, erm, "packing heat" lately. Living up to her moniker, the sweetheart obliged, explaining that she didn't have work done—she just double-bras from time to time.

If we did a shot for every time a Jersey Shore cast member triumphantly announced that they were going to Italy in this premiere, our post would be way short and filled with spelling erroooooors (JK). Thankfully we didn’t, but we did anoint our very first Jersey Shore Style Champ for Season 4. This is what's going down: for each Italy episode, we here at MTV Style use our unimpeachably awesome sartorial judgment to select the best JS style moments of Pauly D., Snooki, The Situation, Sammi, Ronnie, Vinny, Deena and JWOWW, measure them in a fair and shrewdly scientific manner (we eyeball it and go with our guts, sometime there is production assistant bloodshed but so it goes...), and deem a SINGLE housemate the episode winner.
As dutiful editors, we consider personal trends, commitment to fashion, pain-in-the-ass-factor-of-GTL-in-a-foreign-land and whatever Heart of Darkness-ish trials and tribulations the cast members endure to keep their looks FRESH TO DEATH. Using mathematics, rune tossing and mascara-based fingerpainting, we’ve divined our first Season 4 Style Star: SNOOKI. Your girl Deena incinerating her weave was DEFINITELY a close second LOL. Our evidence is as follows:
