Demi Lovato in her video for 'Neon Lights.'

When Demi Lovato debuted the cover art for her new single, "Neon Lights," last week, we were all like, “OOOH” and “AHHH” and “where can we score some glow-in-the-dark nail polish?” Lovato stripped down and submerged herself in water for the beautifully illuminated first shot, and now we’re learning that there’s a lot more where that came from, thanks to a few sneak peek screen grabs from the song’s soon-to-be-released music video.
In honor of passing the 20-million follower mark on Twitter (*throws confetti*), Demi shared several pics from the rain-drenched shoot and OMG HER HAIR GLOWS, TOO. (Wait, is that why she dyed it neon blue or was the black light-friendly tint just a happy bonus? Hmm.) But that's not all that glows! Demi gets decked out in all KINDS of neon makeup: nail polish, lipstick, super thick cat-eye liner. SO FUN. We can haz, plz?
Katy Perry on set at her COVERGIRL shoot.

Now that Katy Perry is the newest face of COVERGIRL, she’s got some business to attend to. We imagine that includes things like experimenting with different shades of eye shadow, creating some sort of prismatic lip-illusion and just generally looking really pretty. Man, life as a COVERGIRL sounds hard, right? *sigh* But before she gets down to the nitty-gritty, Katy decided to have some fun by taking over the cosmetics giant’s Instagram account earlier today and only snapping photos of cats. JK! But that would have been hilarious.

Get excited, Lovatics (and general fans of nail art)! It’s your lucky day. Demi Lovato’s polish kit collaboration with The New Black has arrived earlier than anticipated and it’s everything we ever dreamed of (and more). The blue-haired singer and X Factor coach is forever flashing her on-point nail game (see here and here, for example), so when we heard that she’d be designing some stylish collections for the DIY-nail brand (alongside her ~personal~ manicurist), we were pretty pumped, to say the least. And while we thought we’d have to wait until November 1st to get a glimpse at the kits, it turns out they’re available online now! SQUEE!
OPI by Gwen Stefani.

Sorry I’m not home right now, I’m
walking in the spiderwebs painting my nails LIKE GWEN STEFANI (so leave a message and I’ll call you back). ICYMI, OPI just announced that Stefani will be the latest celebrity to collaborate on a nail polish collection with the star-savvy brand and TBH, this makes ALL the sense. Gwen is no doubt (heh) a major style icon (the hair, the lipstick, the abs), and this is the ~perfect~ addition to her ever-growing fashion empire, which already includes her L.A.M.B clothing/accessories line and her Harajuku Lovers perfumes.
We knew we had to honor the end of Breaking Bad and what better way to do it than with nail art? Especially after we stumbled upon these INSANE BB nails complete with mini meth crystals in Walt's signature blue. Unsurprisingly, there are a lot of other ah-may-zing Breaking Bad-inspired designs out there, so we rounded them up to ease the pain of having to fill your Sunday nights with a new TV show.
Zooey Deschanel's 2013 Emmy manicure.

Zooey Deschanel, long-reigning nail art queen of the red carpet, did not disappoint at this year's Emmys (duh). Zooey showed off her mod black-and-white manicure on Instagram, which was done by her long-time mani collaborator, Tom Bachik. Bachik did Zooey's Emmy nails last year, when she paired retro TV nails with a light blue tulle gown.
Yeah, yeah, we know New York Fashion Week is officially over, but we needed a FULL weekend of recovery before we dove in and picked out the top nail art looks from all the shows—and it also happens to be Manicure Monday. (How perfect!) We have to admit, though, that this year we definitely saw designs of a whole different variety. Sure, we peeped some straight-up half moon manis (Peter Som!) and glitter gradients (Nicole Miller!), but overall we were incredibly impressed with how much designers were willing to experiment with their tips. From mechanical 3D nails to purposely-imperfect manis, we found 10 shows that totally took nail art to the next level. Check 'em out below!
Nail art from The Blonds' New York Spring 2014 Fashion Week show.

OK, this image alone speaks volumes about the diversity of nail designs The Blonds had in just ONE NYFW show. Their Tweety Bird-inspired collection certainly included some on-theme bright yellow designs, but they also incorporated clear acrylics and—get this—a mechanical accent nail that came with a clear hinged door (top right). UH HUH, you can thank CND for that lovely creation.
