Hawaiian Print Nail Art

Photo: Via Very Emily

In case y'all didn't get the memo, Hawaiian print is in. The floral design is no longer reserved for uncool tourists—we've spotted the hibiscus pattern used in tons of high-end designer's spring lines (see: Stella McCartney and Comme des Garcons), and, honestly, we couldn't think of a better time to bust out some super fresh nails—we're DEEP into this whole summer thing, y'all! We rounded up some killer designs from all over the internets that range in difficulty, but—a quick piece of advice—use nail art pens to help with the really detailed parts (like these!) and definitely look at some fabric for inspiration (especially vintage!). All right, time to the peep the designs below, and give it a go!

Guys, sometimes the internet is so awesome we can barely handle it. While doing our typical Manicure Monday research, we stumbled upon Polish All The Nails' blog, and they tipped us off (heh) to a super-easy-yet-totally-amazing way to create DIY 3D cube nail art—by using only glitter! OK, we know this sounds insane, but stick with us here. First, you need to get your hands on some diamond-shaped glitter (like this!), and the more colors you have, the better. Then, paint your nails a bold base color and wait for your fingers to dry. Once you're set, use tweezers to place three pieces of glitter together in the shape of a cube. You can keep it simple with just a single square along the cuticle or go totally cube crazy and do the entire nail! Honestly, we're obsessed with either look, especially because it's sparkly too. *high fives entire world*

M.I.A. Bring The Noize Nail Art

M.I.A. in "Bring the Noize."

We've had M.I.A.'s "Bring the Noize" music video on repeat ever since it premiered last week, and, um, it's obvious as to why. Insane beats + infinite incredible looks + a badass beauty game = a total dream come true. Between M.I.A.'s intricate braided 'do and pink coif, you'd think her hair was the star of the show, but we just couldn't peel our eyes away from her decked-out nails. Basically, no matter how many times we paused it to get a closer look, we still weren't sure what was happening on her digits. Luckily, London-based nail artist Sophie Harris-Greenslade (who did M.I.A.'s nails for the video shoot) tipped us off to the fact that her gold mani is super easy to cop for yourself, as in, YOU CAN BUY IT.

Nautical Nail Art

Photo: Via CBK Nails

Dudes, the Fourth of July is only a few days away, and if you're a procrastinator (like us!), you probably haven't solidified your all-American ensemble just yet. Luckily, if you have a pair of blue jeans and, um, hands, you're halfway there! We rounded up some red, white and blue nautical manicures that'll be PERFECT come Thursday, no matter what you wear. Sure, you can do the same ol' American flag steez, but we thought a set of throwback sailor-inspired nails would be a cooler (and less obvious) way to celebrate the big day. We found 9 designs that vary in difficulty and include everything from stripes and polka dots to ropes and anchors. Peep the manis below and get painting!

Ice Cream Nail Art

Photo: Via Julia Martinez

In case you couldn't tell by the permanent upper lip sweat and unmanageable frizz, SUMMER IS HERE, Y'ALL. The season officially kicked off on Friday, and we're already hiding out in the A/C and eating nothing but cold things 24/7. Basically, this is just our way of admitting that we are going to consume way (WAY) too much ice cream in the coming months, so to celebrate our unrelenting affection for the cool confection, we rounded up some super sweet (heh) manicure that'll (hopefully!) inspire you to trick out your tips. Whether it's a melted, sprinkle-infusion design or a few scoops with a cherry on top, we have some seriously amazing nail art that you need to peep ASAP. Warning: this will make you incredibly hungry.

Um, this is brilliant: Use one hand as the ice cream and the other hand as the cones for THE most decked-out dessert nails.

Demi Lovato

Demi Lovato shows us the true meaning of beauty rest.
Photo: @ddlovato's Twitter

Earlier this week, we saw Demi Lovato reveal that the manicure she rocked at the 2013 MuchMusic Video Awards found its way onto her tips while she was getting some much-needed pre-show shut-eye. D slept face-down on a couch while her favorite nail artist, Stephanie Stone, hooked her up with some killer tips. (They were black with gold beads used as studs if you were wondering.) When we first saw this snap, we were all, "ZOMG, this brings new meaning to the term 'beauty rest,'" and "Mannnnn, I really wish my sister/roommate/boyfriend would do that for me..." etc.etc., but THEN, she uploaded a video of it.

True Blood Nail Art

Photo: Via Brit Nails

You guys, it legit seems like FOREVER since we've watched/discussed/drooled over our favorite True Blood characters. Between Bill, Eric, Alcide and Jason we could barely keep our shiz together when their chiseled abs graced our small screen, and luckily, the Bon Temps drama has returned after a long-awaited hiatus for its sixth (!!!) season. The premiere, which happened last night, was a friendly reminder that we need more vampy goodness in our lives, so to celebrate, we rounded up five amazing nail designs to show off our True Blood fandom in the most fashiony way possible. First up, a GORGEOUS set that features a straight-up perfect dark-to-light red ombre, splattered blood, the show's logo, and a drippy tip. Killer.

We hope you're sitting down because we're about to share some news that'll make you feel really, REALLY old, y'all—tomorrow marks the 20th anniversary of Jurassic Park being released in theaters. Whew! On June 11, 1993 the Steven Spielberg-directed dino flick hit audiences nationwide and is (still!) one of the highest-grossing films of all time in the U.S. Earlier this spring, the film was re-released in 3D, and there's STILL talk that a Jurassic Park 4 will eventually come to fruition in 2014. Either way, there's a whole lotta reasons to celebrate the prehistoric reptiles as of late, so we rounded up some killer (heh) Jurassic Park-themed manis to (stylishly) commemorate this iconic moment in movie history. First up, we have a nail set inspired by the black, red, and yellow film poster with the signature T-Rex skeleton silhouette, white outlined typeface and infamous water ripple.

Orly's Shade Shifter polish, mid-color change.
Photo: Courtesy of Orly

Mood rings might be stashed away with your Lisa Frank trapper keepers from middle school, but now there's a new color-changing product on the market....and this time, nobody has to know when you're feeling angsty. Arriving along with the heat of summer, Orly's rolled out a brand-new nail polish coat that morphs hues as your body temps fluctuate. The beauty company's new Shade Shifter coats might go on dark, but they react with the Orly Gel FX lacquers to become translucent as you get hotter. In other words, your base color becomes revealed when you step outside or move away from the A.C., slowly transitioning from dark to clear (even becoming two-toned and tie dye along the way!). Genius, right?! And, like all gel polishes, they last FOREVER— so you'll have plenty of time to experiment all summer long. Is this the manicure of the future? See how it works in the video below, and let us know if you're willing to give this trend a high five.

Lady Gaga at her Fame fragrance launch in New York on Sept. 14.
Photo: Getty Images/ArtFact

Listen, we love nail art a lot (maybe too much even), but sometimes even we get blindsided by people's utmost dedication to the mini masterpieces. This past Friday, we were tipped off (heh) to an auction where you could bid on nail art previously worn by Lady Gaga. We saw a pic that featured a killer black and gold stiletto-tipped nail hand painted by Aya Fukuda (a NYC-based nail artist who has been behind some of Gaga's most famous tips) which Mother Monster wore at a Fame fragrance launch and Born This Way Dublin performance last fall. In theory, this is TOTALLY AWESOME. Gags always has the most decked-out sets created by world-renowned nail artists, but when we actually read the description of the bid, we were, well, a wee bit disappointed.
