Y'all already know how much we love accessories designer/celeb favorite Melody Ehsani. You've probably peeped her pieces on Rihanna, Beyonce, or Nicki Minaj, just to name a few, but now, Melody is expanding her killer vision into a whole other arena—nails! She teamed up with blogger Aureta Thomollari and nail artist Yoko Sakakura to create Candy Paint: a nail wrap/art studio combined with a jewelry space. YASSS. Last year, Melody opened up to us about her longtime obsession with nail art and gave us ALL the deets on her uh-mazing NCLA nail wrap collab, but we caught up with her again to chat about the inspiration behind her new salon, the importance of nail art, and her second collection of NCLA wraps. Check out the interview after the jump!
Since it's #ManicureMonday over here at MTV Style, we've already got nail art on the mind, but when we were perusing through Chloe Moretz's Instagram feed (like we usually do, NBD) we stumbled upon a KILLER mani that we need to discuss ASAP. She posted a picture of her tips (above) two days ago with the caption, "Best. Nail art. Ever!!!! #nylonmagazine sneak ;)" Umm, OK, now we officially have two reasons to freak out: an out-of-this-world mani and a Nylon magazine shoot? Yesss! If her outfit is anything like her decked-out tips, she's going to be in a seriously pop art-inspired ensemble, and we can't WAIT to see that. But first, let's take a closer look at these nails, shall we?
Kelly Osbourne at the 2013 Screen Actor's Guild Awards in L.A. on Jan. 27.

Sure, we saw tons of amazing dresses on the SAG Awards red carpet tonight, but did y'all peep those nails? Kelly Osbourne, Anne Hathaway, Kaley Cuoco, Busy Philipps, and Sarah Hyland took their nail game to the next level by decking out their digits with killer designs. Kelly went all-out edgy (heh) by matching her glam rock black, studded Jenny Packham dress with black, heart-shaped tips. (Also, um, hello giant crystal cocktail ring. #need)

Sure, we love nail art, but when it comes to nail art on Beyonce, whew! It's a whole different ballgame, friends. Bey's go-to manicurist Lisa Logan (who has her own line at Minx and is someone you may remember from our prom nail art shoot back in 2011) created some custom tips for Beyonce's New Year's Eve performance in Las Vegas, and—OMG—they are uh-mazing. Bey posted a close-up pic of her digits last week, and Lisa says the designs were inspired by the late artist Jean-Michel Basquiat, who is known for his obscure graffiti pieces (and is also a favorite of both Beyonce and Jay-Z). The colorful decals varied by each finger (which we LOVE), and we think it complemented her rhinestone-encrusted black and white bustier and curly locks perfectly.
Zooey Deschanel wears golden camera reels on her nails for the 2012 Golden Globe Awards.

It's no secret that we're die-hard nail art aficionados here at MTV Style, and given that Zooey Deschanel is one most active celebrities in the nail game, we were amped to see what she'd have in store for her 2013 Golden Globe Awards red carpet look. Zooey traipsed down the step-and-repeat in a glamorous Oscar de la Renta gown in bright red and fit for a princess. She styled the dress with a flirty evening ponytail and a strand of big ivory pearls, but it was the action happening above her cuticles that we were most excited to uncover. We maaaay or may not have had an office pool betting on what theme the New Girl actress would run with this evening.
Madeline Poole and a behind-the-scenes pic of nail art from her new book 'Nails, Nails Nails.'

You may think you don't know nail artist Madeline Poole, but we can guarantee you've seen the LA-based manicurist's handiwork within the past year—whether you meant to or not. She was the mastermind behind Kelly Osbourne's killer digits for FAULT's fall cover shoot (among many, many others!), the gal who created all those dope American Apparel nail tutorials, the genius behind Nasty Gal's campaigns, and has done so many celebs' nails we can barely even keep track (our faves? Ke$ha and Kreayshawn). Even if you don't follow fashion mags, you might've also spotted her name in Sephora thanks to The New Black x Madeline Poole nail art kits. (Psst: We've even showcased her work right here on the blog!) Believe it or not, Madeline has even more amazingness up her sleeve—she's releasing a book which gives step-by-step instructions on how to complete all her signature designs this spring. YASSS.
Ciaté's Very Colourfoil Manicure in Wonderland.

Man, is there anything you can't do with your nails these days? UK-based nail brand Ciaté (you know, the peeps who brought you the caviar and velvet manicure) have released yet another kit to deck out your digits with—this time with foil! OooOOooh. Their Very Colourfoil (heh) Manicure collection (which is currently available to purchase on Sephora.com for $19) includes three different kits of foil sheets and polish to create an oh-so-glam look. Each kit contains foil fix glue, a paint pot, 30 foil sheets, and a "Colourfoil Canvas" to try out a design before you put in on your fingers. SMART. The description says, "Ciaté's Creative Director Charlotte Knight was inspired by gleaming metallic accessories, models wrapped head-to-toe in luxe foil shades at London Fashion Week, and unique-fashion street-styling to create this inspirational nail kit." The Wonderland set, above, comes with a slate grey Cream Soda color polish and the foil sheets Flash, Fizz, Feisty, Fling, Flirt, Frost. Fun!
Guys, nail art can be hard. We get it. You need a steady hand, a teeny tiny brush, tons of time--whew, we're getting tired just thinking about it. Lucky for us, the geniuses over at China Glaze created a set of polishes that transform into a new color with the swipe of a clear top coat--meaning, yes, it doesn't take much skill to create a fresh new design in seconds. I know, I know, it sounds INSANE, but believe us when we say it's absolutely, 100% true. (We even have video evidence!) Their collection, appropriately called Tranzitions, includes six color-changing polishes that will literally change hues before your eyes as you apply a clear layer on top. The best part is that ANY top coat works, meaning the options are endless, y'all!
Listen, winter doesn't have to be so bad. Yeah, sure, the days are getting WAY shorter, and all that layering is starting to get annoying/sweaty/cumbersome, but, you guys! 'Tis the season for snow! We LOVE those super wintery days, and since it's mid-December we think it's time to celebrate those oh-so-beautiful snowflakes by transforming them into killer nail designs. First up, is a '60s-inspired teal, white and black snowflake set that definitely gives us mod-era vibes, which we love. The best part, though, is that there's a video in how to recreate this entire look in under 4 minutes. Hope you have that tiny brush handy, y'all!
Yep, it's true—2012 is almost over, and, gosh, what a fashion-filled year it has been! From the breathtaking magazine covers to the oh-so-shocking haircuts to the incredible red carpet dresses, there certainly wasn't a dull fashion moment over the past 12 months. So sit back and relax as we reminisce about all our favorite style moments of 2012.
We're not exaggerating when we say this was THE year of nail art. Sure, 2011 had its fair share of tricked-out tips, but 2012 brought out the best nail game in everyone. So, let's start off the Best of 2012 with bang by introducing the most killing-est (that's a word) celebrity nail art from the entire year.
KATY PERRY: BEST THEMED TIPS
It's no secret that Katy Perry has a penchant for seriously-detailed digits, and with the help of go-to nail artist Kimmie Kyees, the singer has sported some of the most intricate manis we have seen to date, including (but not limited to!) metallic goth florals, Hollywood movie nails, Barack Obama tips, and the entire cast of Daria. Girl loves a good theme!
