As exciting as Fashion Week always is, it's a little bit of a cruel joke. I mean, I'm all for getting a full-on preview of every dress, shoe, and trend I'll be lusting after in the future, but to have to wait basically a YEAR to have any hope of actually getting my hands on it?? What a tease. Mara Hoffman's fall collection was an amalgamation of ethnic and frontier influences, and thanks to the geometric Aztec prints and intarsia knits on racks right now, you can cobble together this ensemble right now. All you'll need is a graphic printed tee like this long-sleeved one from American Eagle, some vibrant pleated peg-leg trousers, a geometric cardigan, black ankle booties, a floppy felt hat, and a chunky gold necklace. Voila! Your very own expedited runway look!

The Blonds Show Heavy Metal Love For Motorcycles [Video]

Couple of things you need to know about The Blonds’ Fall 2012 New York Fashion Week show. There was a light cycle from 'Tron' cold chilling on the runway like it was no big deal. The season marked the DEBUT of their men’s collection (spun off from their bespoke collections for Adam Lambert, who was front and center). There were bustiers and loooooooooooooooooong blunt beautiful ponytails (sorta on that Iggy Azalea tip) jutting out of helmets. And last, but certainly not least, Lil’ Kim showed up wearing last season’s white ostrich feather + bejeweled bodice that was tailored and altered expressly for the Queen B herself.

We ran backstage and spoke to both Phillipe and David Blond about this season’s inspiration, their muses, and music which, DJ'd by Scott Ewalt, followed a gear-head theme with Leather Angel's "Whole Lotta Love," Love And Rockets' "Motorcycle," "Leader of the Gang" from Gary Glitter as well as Lana Del Rey's "Kinda Outta Luck," an artist that The Blonds cite as an inspiration.

The Best Nail Art At New York Fashion Week

You've probably seen the clothes, the hair, and the makeup from all the fall 2012 NYFW shows by now, but have you seen the nails? Even if you were front row, it'd be hard to spot nail art on the fierce fast-paced models. Luckily, we found beautiful, up-close shots of the best tips from backstage, on Twitter, and everywhere in between. Check out the hottest fashion week nail designs below, and don't blame us if you get inspired to purchase some new polish immediately after reading this.

NEON RAVER NAILS

The fall season didn't stop designers from sending neon-tipped models down the runway. We spotted so many fun and bright rainbow-colored nail designs that took us straight back to the '90s raver days, and we especially loved the hand-done swirl design at Nicole Miller! The Blonds showcased a glittery hodgepodge of hot pink, blue and white nails with tiny tattoo designs, and Jeremy Scott went for colorful 3D nail stickers that remind us of Candy Buttons. Mmmmm.

Jeremy Scott Creates A Runway Show About The Internet [Video]

OH MY GAWG. Well, you guys already know that we're wild Jeremy Scott Stans. Whatever douchechills that typically accompany testifying to being a massive, embarrassing fan of someone DO NOT APPLY HERE and certainly not in even the remotest neighborhood of this show BECAUSE it was that spectacular. Here's the thing, looking back on the week, I appreciated NYFW and can happily pluck out looks I adored for its cleverness or its artfulness or its elegance or its movement. But, I can also confidently say that a great many ensembles smacked of a certain, obvious commercial appeal that would be GREAT if I could cop it at ASOS but weren't all that spirit-rousing or soul-igniting marching down the runway in practical, wearable, accessible droves.

Jeremy Scott A/W 2012 could NOT be a further departure. The collection, entitled "Delete History," was inspired by the internet and was absolutely bonkers schizoid in its peripatetic prance all over sensory overload town. The collections is basically what The Lawnmower Man saw right as he hugged the information superhighway so hard with his brain that he fell in, if he also happened to be at a renegade rave in London in 1991 at the time. We caught up with the designer backstage and talked about his inspiration:

5 Accessories You'll Need This Fall (And Can Wear Now!)

Since it's winter, and we just attended New York Fashion Week, which showcased the fall 2012 collections, we started to think to ourselves, "Even though none of these ensembles will be available until fall, can't we start wearing some of the trends now seeing as how it's the same temperature?" Well, of course the answer is obvious; it's a resounding hellz YES. And if we get even more specific, why not isolate the kewlest accessory trends at NYFW so we can start building the looks a little early? It's a no-brainer. (And we're zombies right now, so perf! BRAAAAINS.) Thus, here are our favorite accessory trends from the shows which you can start adopting onto your person immediately.

BELT IT UP

So, belts were everywhere during fashion week. Thick ones, thin ones, plastic ones, leather ones. The point is, get one and make sure it's interesting and/or long enough so you can loop-de-loop that sucker over itself. At Rag & Bone, dark oxblood belts where cinched over blanket coats, so grab a blanket, pilfer your BF's belt drawer, and go for it. Jenny Packham added thin belts to her Old Hollywood rockabilly gowns, and we love this idea for giving your prom dress some edge. At 3.1 Phillip Lim, belts were looped all ovah the place, and we're especially fond of this thick translucent white belt over a white shirt, layers of gray knits, and khaki pants.

Mixed Prints Trend Reaches New Level For Fall 2012

Now that the New York Fashion Week shows are over, we can sit back and survey the week as a larger unit for next season's hottest trends! It appears mixed prints isn't a look that's cooling off any time soon. In fact, judging from this Fall 2012 showing, the wielding of layered patterns is only getting more extreme. Chances are good you've already started dabbling in the idea, but if not, we'll help you figure out a few ways to make the look work.

MOTLEY COLORS

Remember how daunting colorblocking seemed, like, a year ago? And now you probably concoct bold outfits with the trend in your SLEEP. Once you get over the initial crazy feeling, it's easy to visiualize and craft a deliciously on-trend ensemble. Just like with colorblocking, it's important that all the hues you use fit within the same mood. Rebecca Minkoff mixed a marbled pumpkin knit with goldenrod snakeprint shorts which, in sentence form, sounds insane, but because they're both earthier, Thanksgiving-esque tones, the look is harmonious. Honor paired a thinly striped black and neon lime sweater with a pencil skirt diagonally tiered in exactly the same shades - a fool-proof recipe for flawless print mixing. The always imaginative Anna Sui also went for bold colors, mixing some varied shades of sapphire which may sound like a clashy mess at first, but with the right accessories and head-to-toe commitment, the final product is really fun and striking. Also, a simple hairdo is necessary.

5 Daring Beauty Looks We Want To Try From NYFW

New York Fashion Week is officially donezo, folks. We've caught up on sleep, and now we're ready to take a non-hazy-eyed look back on fall's biggest beauty trends. We saw everything from super sleek, edgy high buns to glam rockabilly pompadours, but there were certainly a few standout looks that inspired us to switch up our borecore day-to-day makeup routine. Check out the top five fearless beauty trends we need to try this fall below, but warning: only the daring need apply.

THE DOTTED CAT EYE

Anna Sui's fall show was filled with '60s-inspired, mixed-print pieces with a dash of '70s styling, which was perfectly reflected in the beauty look. She paired a deep-parted bouffant 'do with a killer blue cat eye that we can't wait to try. Not only is the electric blue liquid liner enough to already turn some heads, but then she added a dot of color beneath her peepers for one hippie-meets-sex-kitten look. This may take hours of practice in the mirror before you can wear it out in public, but we think it's totally worth it. DISCLAIMER: Stick to nudes and sheer glosses on the lips. Any bold color on your pout will compete with the eyes transforming the entire look from cute to crazy.

Shades Of Orange Sweeten New York Fashion Week

New York Fashion Week for fall 2012 had its fair share of trends, but if there was one constant we noticed from show to show, it was the heavy use of orange. We're not just talking any orange, either, we mean gentle swaths of carrot and sienna, or all-over blasts of persimmon and atomic tangerine. It's always strange to see so many designers go for the same idea. Do they call each other up and say, "Orange for fall! I'll take neon if you go with burnt sunshine." Seriously, how do they all seem to choose the same colors? Who knows, but we like the tang of this orange thing. It seems like a hard color to pull off, but after seeing the way so many designers used it—from wool coats and lace dresses to belted trousers and mixed prints—we're excited to take a sip of this juice.

AGENT ORANGE

Some designers fully embraced orange and shouted it in loud, all-over statements. Rachel Comey paired a generously cut safety orange wool coat over black trousers and added a white clutch for a modern cosmopolitan look. Michael Kors went for super uptown glam with a fur-rimmed electric orange coat and matching silk dress. And Nanette Lepore—who always designs the sweetest array of dresses—sent diffused orange neon lace down the runway with a hint of sparkle, gray tights, and metallic blue peep-toe heels. Something to note? The makeup was kept fairly simple, but we especially like the use of matching lip color at Michael Kors.

Is Ashanti Addicted To Mesh?

Guys, we need to talk about Ashanti. We spotted her sporting a mesh ensemble not once, not twice, but three times in a row this week. Not only are we a little unsure as to why she can't stop sporting the sheer stuff in the middle of winter, but we're worried we might have to stage an intervention. On Sunday, we spotted her backstage at the NYFW Falguni & Shane Peacock fall show wearing a barely there Pocahontas-inspired ensemble by the designer. And when we say "barely there," we basically mean that she's wearing mostly mesh with strategically placed panels of patterned fabric. She accessorized with pointy-toe heels that we're 99.9 percent sure say "SEX" on them in all glitter. Yep. Also, we tried to imagine her sitting down in this dress and our minds exploded.

Whitney Port's First NYFW Runway Show [Video]

Whitney Eve's first solo New York Fashion Week runway show (prior events have been presentations and joints shows in Miami or in L.A.) for Fall/Winter 2012 was admirable for its restraint. Inspired by an antique kaleidoscope found in her grandmother's house, Whitney Port unveiled tailored angles and jewel tones and at no point threatened to allow her collection to fragment into scattered, disparate stories. Set to the backdrop of Beyoncé's "Run The World? (Girls)," M.I.A.'s "Bad Girls," Robyn's "Fembot," and The Big Pink's "Dominos," there were sequins, dainty peplum blouses, pretty bubble prints, fluttery blouses, cocktail dresses with geometric beading, and a cannily cut and breezy-to-wear suit.

We caught up with the flaxen-haired designer to talk about the iridescent nails (blue!), her inspiration, and some of her favorite pieces.
