We don't mean to pick favorites, but we love Jonathan Simkhai. The New York-based designer is relatively fresh to the New York Fashion Week scene (his first show was in 2010!), but he's already won over buyers at Barneys, Shopbop and Bergdorf Goodman, just to name a few. His sporty-meets-edgy-meets-feminine pieces are a fresh take on super cool work wear (or, heck, any kind of wear!), and we're obsessed with his graphically bold designs. His spring/summer 2014 collection features everything from breezy palazzo pants to sultry cut-out crop tops to super mod frocks, and we NEEDED to find out more about this visually-inspiring line. Luckily, we got a chance to catch up with Jonathan himself to tell us about his collection inspiration, live presentation music, and the type of girl he designs for. Check it out below!

Not much more of New York Fashion Week left! What will life after Fashion Week even be like? How will we survive? What will fill our days? Well, the good news is we don't have to think about that yet. And—YAAAAS—we're still in the midst of our collab with #shehashadit and its creator, Jarvis Derrell. Jarvis is breaking down street style snaps from NYFW and guiding all the KWEENS out there to be more EFF FORT LESS. Peep Jarvis' input while you can; it won't last 4eva, though we wish it would!

WHEWWWWW, Yasssssssssssss Kween!!! Now THIS is how you serve a look kids!!! Bold, Brave and Badass!!! Guuurrrlll, this ode to Janis is serving us sanctified modest bohemian jailbird hair on Broadway couture, and I am living for every single bit of it!!!! Guuuurrrlll, but I must issue a DISCLAIMER!!!! - don't try this at home Kweens!!!!! I once attempted to serve a Zara houndstooth printed gown with a sensible Forever 31 flower blouse, tying it all together with a Gucci knock off belt I bought in Chinatown for $5!!!! Whoops!!! The world just wasn't ready!!! Friends were lost, weaves were pulled and several of my baby daddies stop calling me!! #damn #everybodyaintable #shehashadit #clash #stash #serve #nonequitybohemianrhasphody #janisjoplin #earthmother #beetlejuice #obsessed

The stars have certainly made this Fashion Week an exciting one. We've seen them stomp the runway à la Rita Ora, or even make a NYFW debut, facial hair included (you can't hide that miniscule moustache Biebs). And while we're struggling to remember whether we even put makeup on this morning, we're glad the celebs are still well-groomed and out in full force for the photogs. We're on the downward slope/climb/exhausting long-haul of the week, y'all. Here's who we've spotted perched in the front row.

Rita Ora, Iggy Azalea, A$AP Rocky

As if a surprise runway walk from Rita Ora (accompanied by a seriously dope Spring 2014 collection that's both nostalgic and forward-thinking) wasn't enough, DKNY threw itself a GIGANTIC 25th birthday party last night in New York's Financial District punctuated by a high octane performance from the next face of the brand herself. The crowd itself was star-studded with a huge range of fashion fans, from Hailee Steinfeld to John Legend and his hilarious model boo Chrissy Teigen to Red Hot Chili Peppers' Anthony Kiedis. But the stage ALSO boasted its fair share of famous faces as Iggy Azalea, Melanie Fiona, A$AP Rocky and A$AP Ferg all made surprise guest performance appearances.

monique-lhuillier

The front row at Monique Lhuillier’s Spring 2014 show was teeming with lovely Hollywood ladies (Emmy Rossum, Jena Malone, Rose McGowan) in search of their next red carpet gown. The elegant dresses almost appeared to float down the runway, leaving tangerine, coral, and fuchsia-tinted trains gliding gracefully in their wake. Sounds like a dream, right? Well be that as it may, there’s no time for sleep during New York Fashion Week! Gotta keep the crowds on their Manolo Blahnik-covered toes! Which is exactly why Javier Peral, the man behind the soundtrack for Lhuillier’s Spring 2014 show, opted to go sullen and sulking with the mood of the tunes, instead of light and airy like the collection itself. To hear more about the music from Javier himself and peep the edgy soundtrack behind the delicate dresses, stay with us after the jump!

It's that time again, y'all. Time for Jarvis Derrell of #shehashadit to give us the lowdown on the street style going on at New York Fashion Week. We're more than halfway through the fashun's biggest week—how can it be!—but there are still plenty of EFFORTLESS KWEENS hittin' the street to show off what they got. If you've missed any of Jarvis's #NYFW #fashion #style #streetstyle posts, you can check 'em out here.

It may've been the weekend, but that certainly didn't stop celebrities from coming out to New York Fashion Week to see what their fave designers have planned for Spring 2014. Tons of famous faces flocked to various locations around NYC to see what the likes of Charlotte Ronson, Diane Von Furstenberg, DKNY, Y-3, Hood by Air, and Alexander Wang have been working on.

Justin Bieber

That's right, folks. Justin Bieber has been topping charts, selling out arenas, and sending ladybabies and grown women (what has two thumbs and bookmarks KidRauhl?) into tailspins with his silky golden pipes, shirtless Instagrams, perma-furrowed brow, but not until this past Sunday, after three full-length studio albums, two international tours, and countless awards, has he sat front row at a New York Fashion Week show. Yup. Until yesterday, the Biebs had been a mere casual observer of Fashion Week, making a #veryrare appearance for Fashion's Night Out but not (yet) perching alongside the runway. And this weekend (perhaps making up for lost time?), Justin took in TWO major Spring 2014 shows: Y-3 (fist bumping with Yohji himself afterward) and Opening Ceremony's very first runway show.

En Noir

En Noir, the street-goth cult hit beloved by everyone from Yeezy to Drizzy and Miley Cyrus to A$AP Rocky flaunted their spring/summer 2014 wares in a presentation at Milk Studios last night. The smoke-filled 8th floor studio was dimly lit with writhing, scantily-clad dancers skulking amongst the coal-colored crags and the spartan plink-plonk and haunting chanting of the soundscape, designed by Stelios Phili, only served to heighten the palpable frisson of a rumored Justin Bieber appearance that never materialized.

Renowned for their $1,600 leather sweatpants, $7,300 python sweatpants and leather T-shirts for men (and resourceful, swag-laden ladies), we were all curious to see what designer Rob Garcia and style director Matthew Henson had planned for their first foray into womenswear. “En Noir is renowned for leather but this collection really shows Rob’s versatility,” says Henson. “He created his own silk blend which looks to have a wrinkle effect but it’s actually just carbon dyed. And we’re seeing houndstooth printed on a lighter nylon as well as six strong women’s looks that standalone wholly separate from the men’s designs. They speak for themselves.”

I love these two as a couple. What a festive way to celebrate two important events in their life. Mariah looks like a dream.
