Minx Nails Dress

So, we're obsessed with Minx nails (if you haven't already noticed) because they are SO. FREAKING. COOL. Trying to do nail art like that on your own is basically impossible, and you can switch up your look in a snap since they're press-ons. But we thought Minx nails were for, you know, just nails. We had NO IDEA these crazy tips could transform entire outfits! Last week, French designer Charlie Le Mindu showed his collection at Paris Fashion Week, which featured items *gasp* made completely of Minx nails! Just LOOKING at one of Charlie's dresses (above) you can tell tons of time went into creating these ensembles—each nail is different! The creators painstakingly covered each nail tip with not one, but two layers of Minx, which resulted in using more than 30,000 press-ons. Minx co-founder Dawn Lynch-Goodwin said, "Because each coating was layered over a metallic Minx base, it took twice as long to prepare the Kiss nail tips, but the metallic sheen combined with the hair graphic truly made the dress look like it was rippling down the runway." The GORGE cobalt blue crew neck cap-sleeved dress with blue fringe was just the beginning of the Minx creations, though. Check out the endless possibilities of nail couture!

Chloe Sevigny walks in the Kenzo Spring/Summer 2012 Paris Fashion Week show with brown hair.
Photo: Getty Images

From New York and London to Milan and Paris, it's been a jaw-dropping, GAH-stopping, color-rollicking Spring 2012 Fashion Week season. One of the shows we've been anticipating since it was announced that Opening Ceremony honchos, Carole Lim and Humberto Leon, would be revamping it is the Parisian (by way of Japan) label Kenzo, which made its new and improved debut at Paris Fashion Week this weekend. From the models welcoming guests by waving from windows to roving cinematography by Spike Jonze and music curated (and drummed to) by Jason Schwartzman, this was (in our humble opinion) the COOLEST show of the season. Not only did the collection include giant fishnet covered caps, high-heeled loafers with the toes cut out, and layer upon layer of structured, short-sleeve-coated genius, it also had the presence of the QUEEN of indie kewl, Miss Chloe Sevigny, rocking not only a bright blue jumpsuit that we needed to own five seconds ago but also BROWN HAIR.

Kanye West Paris Fashion Week

God. I wonder what Kanye West is feeling right now given that I am deeeeepleted that weeks of wild speculation and rune casting and Google alerting and Twitter/Tumblr stalking has finally come to an end with the unveiling of his first womenswear collection at Paris Fashion Week. He probably feels pretty great. The thing about this show is that opinions will diverge and reviews will run the gamut from effusive to scathing because there is no way to sequester the entire world from the Internet and this man's megafame. Dicey territory from which to judge a show. Plus, nevermind the crazy levels of clout in his front row that draws even more attention.

According to this Associated Press report from the scene, Kanye was nervous, repeating, "I'm so scared," after which he stated that he just wanted to end the "celebrity designer" qualifier.

In attendance were a number of notable bold names--Anna Wintour, Carine Roitfeld, Azzedine Alaia, Olivier Theyskens, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Lindsay Lohan, Terry Richardson, Jared Leto. Ciara, who sat front row and wore a fox fur stole (solidarity?), also told MTV News how much she empathized with the level of scrutiny Kanye was under. "It was definitely one of the most talked-about events [of Paris Fashion Week]," she said. "This doesn't happen every day, and to see someone like Kanye, who aspires to succeed in fashion, to get so much respect and cross over like this, it was monumental. It was an historic moment."

Jeremy Scott who was also prominantly placed mentioned how the collection echoed Kanye's impeccable taste as a student and genuine fan of design.

To wit: there are definitely echoes of influence throughout. Granted, this was overall, a collection of American sportswear. Clean. Marketable (though we'll know more once we see the pricepoint). And sexy. But there were whispers of Issey Miyake in the delicate pleats (both amorphous and sculpted), hints of Helmut Lang in the stark simplicity and palette but there was nothing that displayed too much of a barrier to entry in terms of silhouettes. We are not talking 1,800 bolts of shantung and 4,300 fish scales for a hat with a veil here.

Looks from the Christian Dior spring 2012 runway in Paris on Sept. 30.
Photo: Getty Images

If there's one thing we love about spring season fashion shows, it's the welcoming of light, airy, free-flowing fabrics after a long season of thick sweaters and heavy coats. At Christian Dior's spring 2012 show, soft pastel hues dominated the runway, but a particular look was reoccurring theme—sheer! From short shifts to long gowns, there wasn't a place that Dior didn't plant a touch of the see-through fabric. Our favorite sheer looks were on the floor-length dresses—the movement the light layers created was INCREDIBLE, and it was a subtle way to show off some serious leg. But, even amidst the gorgeous ensembles, sometimes there were places the whole sheer shebang got a little out of hand. See: Karlie Kloss (top left) in her long sleeve black lace dress. There's a stripe of black along the front and VERY light nude fabric on the bottom portion of the gown, so if you were wondering, "Well, what happens when she turns around?" it's EXACTLY what you think would happen—her bum is on full display. Also, this was the closing look. YEP.

Kanye West arrives at Gare du Nord in Paris on Sept. 30.
Photo: Splash News

Kanye West has officially arrived. Yeezy was spotted leaving the Gare du Nord train station in Paris heading to... well... we don't know where, but we can probably guess it's to a secret studio (or fashion show location!) to work on his highly-anticipated Paris Fashion Week debut collection. For an unveiling that's happening in less than 24 hours, he's looking pretty chill in his bright red blazer, heather gray tee, layered necklaces, black skinny jeans, and high-top sneakers with a plaid shirt tied around his waist (that lends an overall kilt-like appearance that we find to be kinda awesome).

But... who's that dude in the background doing a KILLER yawning photobomb? Well, it's Chris Julian, co-founder of Las Vegas vintage streetwear boutique Fruition (they have an in-house line as well), a spot that Kanye and co. have been super supportive of FOR YEARS. At one point, Chris Julian had been rumored to be consulting for Kanye's now defunct Pastelle sportswear line, talk that was further fueled by Julian showing up at Fashion's Night Out in one of the VERY FEW varsity jackets that the brand produced.

Invitation to Kanye West's Paris Fashion Week show.
Photo: Courtesy of Materialiste

Guys. It's happened. Invitations to Kanye West's forthcoming Paris Fashion Week debut have OFFICIALLY been dispatched. AAAAAAND on this all caps, sans serif, ELEGANT IN ITS AUSTERITY invite there is so much information to parse. First up, we have the cryptic "Dw" inscription at the tippy top of the invite. While we can't confirm whether this is the name of Ye's line or collection, the chatter around the fash-community seems to favor a rumor that the initials stand for Kanye's mother, Donda West (which for the record, we think is a wonderful homage).

The other MAJOR piece of news we get from this invitation is (FINALLY) the location. The proverbial "X" on the map of Paris that we've all been crazily speculating about FOR WEEKS. Now, we can know for sure where one of this Fashion Week's most-anticipated shows is taking place and GOOGLE MAP IT (because duh).

Guiseppe Zanotti Kanye West

If you're fluent in French (*cough* or use Google Translate *cough*), you'd already know that Vogue Paris dropped the news that Kanye West's Paris Fashion Week debut (which is tomorrow!!!) will feature shoes produced by Italian designer Giuseppe Zanotti—four of which will be exclusive to Kanye's collection. This is not TOO much of a surprise considering that last month Giuseppe told WWD, "[Kanye] loves learning about shoes [...] both the design and construction, and we've tried to design something together." Then he added, "In a couple of months, he could have his own special collection out." *light bulb illuminates above head*
