Justin Bieber Puts His Spin On The Christmas Sweater

Looks like our boy Justin Bieber tried his hand at a seasonal stand-by performing alongside Usher last Wednesday, and no, we're not talking about "The Christmas Song." Along with the resurfacing of seasonal favorites like peppermint and gingerbread and the crisp scent of conifers, the kickoff of the holiday season also ushers in the annual heyday of the ugly Christmas sweater. Oft thought of as relegated to groggy-eyed pajama-clad present openings, sloppy gatherings dripping with eggnog, or your most beloved rosy-cheeked elementary school teacher's themed wardrobe, the classic ugly Christmas sweater is also a favorite performance outfit for many a celeb, including the Biebs.

Taylor Swift Sports Own Lyrics In DIY Arm Tattoo

You guys, Taylor Swift got a tattoo, and it's HUGE. We did a double take when we spotted her onstage at Madison Square Garden in her 'dorbs chiffon purple halter dress because, um, there's GIANT WRITING all down her arm! We never thought T-Swift would be into tats, but it looks like Taylor is a wee bit more badass than we all thought. Thanks to our sleuthing skills (aka zooming in really close on the photo), it looks like Tay Tay has the phrase "May these memories break our fall" written on her arm with three glittery hearts at the end. (If you're a MEGA T-Swift fan [like us, NBD], you'd know that this phrase is a lyric from her "Long Live" song, and that she writes lyrics on her arm for every show.) We like that Taylor took it upon herself to add some extra DIY body art to her perfectly swept-up ponytail and killer eye makeup beauty game. We're, like, 90 percent sure she wrote it herself, and we find it kind of REALLY adorable that she filled in each heart with a touch of colorful glitter for an extra girly touch. In fact, we kind of want to see this bad boy up CLOSE. Like, reaaaaaaaaaalll close. Like, UNCOMFORTABLY close.

Jennifer Lopez Or Britney Spears: Whose Sparkly Nude Performance Outfit Was Best?

It's the performance that broke the Internet. Jennifer Lopez took to the 2011 American Music Awards stage for a show-stopping set which included two on-stage wardrobe changes, a staircase of shirtless man-candy, and a baubled dancing cane. To say the very least, our minds were blown. J.Lo went HAM, bodying the entire audience with an inspired dance routine. #flygirls4eva! She opened in a gauzy, leopard print cape-slash-gown from Giambattista Valli's 2011 fall/winter collection, with slow dramatic movements that reminded us a little of Florence and the Machine. A swift sleight of hand trick, and she was transformed into the glamazon Jenny from the block that we know and love, clad in GOBS of glittering fringe that caught so much dazzling light and movement. AND THEN, that came off to reveal a nude bodysuit decked out and bedazzled with so many strategically placed crystals. But it wasn't just J.Lo's rousing performance that had everyone abuzz. Watching Jennifer go hard in all that nude sparkly goodness couldn't help but conjure up memories of Britney Spears's iconic outfit on stage at the 2000 VMAs.

Lady Gaga Is A Gold-Tipped Swan At The Bambi Awards, Gets A Gold Deer From Karl Lagerfeld

There's nothing like ending the week with the triumphant sartorial cheer of Lady Gaga wearing something GLORIOUS. Yes, little monsters, the queen of the red carpet showed up to the Bambi Awards (aka "Germany's most important media prize ceremony") wearing a jaw-dropping Alexander McQueen gown that made her look like an elegantly wayward swan drenched in gold (her poor pet deer fossilized forever in her precious metal embrace). To get right to the point, this is a MAYJAH style moment. It was classic McQueen and evoked his late muse Isabella Blow. Not only is this dress matted to Gaga's body like wet 24 karat feathers, it swirls up and around her face and then COVERS HER ENTIRE HEAD. But just what is it made out of? Are these flowers, leaves, or just random frippery? Or, WAIT. Is this headdress constructed out of dozens of expensive looking SUNFLOWER SEEDS?

Kanye West Wears Versace For H&M To The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, Is Also A Really Nice Guy

OK, Kanye West. You're seriously warming our hearts this week, dude. First of all, you rocked a leather KILT at your Madison Square Garden show, then you went and gave free tix to the staff of the Mercer Hotel as a thank you (and even chartered a bus for them!), and THEN you gave a front row seat to someone wearing cool sneaks at your show (specifically the Jeremy Scott x Adidas ones), which is really nice. Dannnnng, boy, you're really turning it OUT in STYLE! This is some endearing behavior. We're also enamored with your choice to wear Versace for H&M during a performance at the Victoria's Secret fashion show. What else do you have up your philanthropic tropical leopard print sleeve, Yeez? Oh, just some seriously sweet comments about your MOM. *Hearts melting*

When an artist gets decked out in a performance outfit, they already pull all the stops as it is—but when it's during a fashion show (arguably THE biggest fashion show of the year), the style stakes are MUCH higher. It's no surprise though that Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj, and Adam Levine BUH-ROUGHT it when they performed at the Victoria's Secret fashion show last night in New York. (Kanye West ALSO performed, but we have a separate post for him entirely because THAT'S HOW IT IS, Y'ALL.) Like, first off, just look at Jay-Z. You may think, "Um, he's wearing all black. SO?!" Well, dear friend, look a weeee bit closer. Yeah. Did you spot it? He's wearing a SHORT SLEEVE LEATHER JACKET. Amazing. He layered it over a long sleeve black sweater and black graphic tee, which he paired with exposed pocket sweatpants and black lace-up boots. He accessorized with two thick gold chains, a couple of beaded bracelets, and a killer platinum watch. Adam Levine from Maroon 5 kept his ensemble a bit more simple in a gray tank, black suit pants, and ankle boots. Adam (luckily) doesn't have to do TOO much to look amazing because of all those tats, so he just threw on a watch, tousled up his hair, trimmed his beard, and called it day! The boys kept their ensembles low-key, but Nicki Minaj pulled out ALL. THE. STOPS. (per ushe) by wearing literally every color of the rainbow in her decked-out ensemble. THIS OUTFIT NEEDS A CLOSE-UP BEFORE WE CAN CONTINUE.

Nicki Minaj And Prince Perform At Versace For H&M Launch Event

As expected, last night's Versace for H&M launch event at New York's Pier 57 was bananalation nation to the umpteenth degree. Not only did stars from music to movies to OG fashion legends show up in droves, but each came dripping in their Versace finest from pieces ripped straight off the racks of the forthcoming Versace for H&M collection to vintage gems unearthed from the archives (which we imagine are held in a 24 karat gilded vault of MAMMOTH proportions). Along with a '90s nostalgic runway show, the event was punctuated by an afterparty, at which both Nicki Minaj and the incomparable Prince performed.

Kanye West Has A Thing For Leather Pants And Air Yeezy 2s (And Kilts!)

Whenever there's a lull in the day or a collective silence, or sometimes when the fashion horizon is cloudy and gray, we here at MTV Style like to ponder what's transpiring in the world of Kanye West. Always an arbiter of style and, as of late, a bona fide designer, too, Mr. West never fails to kick it up at events or turn it out on the streets. We know he's currently touring his Watch the Throne project with Jay-Z, so when we checked in to see what he's been wearing onstage, we were astounded, y'all. Not only was he wearing the EXACT SAME Air Yeezy 2s and leather pants combo we spied him wearing on the sidewalks of Soho recently, he was also wearing a—gasp—LEATHER KILT.

Selena Gomez And Justin Bieber's 2011 EMA Couple Style Proves Opposites Attract

Despite the tumultuous relationship-testing events of late, we here at MTV Style have the utmost faith in America's wonder couple-behbehs: Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber. Though not photographed together AT the 2011 EMA last night in Belfast, they were seen holding hands en route to a dinner after the big event for which Sel played host. Biebs let his girl shine on her own on her big day, as the duo played up their divergent personal styles more rather than going H.A.M. with the matchy-poo-ness à la black on black on black at the 2011 VMAs. Both performers in their own right, Selena and Justin both took to the stage during the award show, each clad in signature personal steeze.

As is customary, nay expected of Miss Gomez, girl was decked out in sequins to the eyeballs. Sel wore the long-sleeved shimmering purple number, in all its hot pants glory, with a pair of deliciously suede black knee-high boots and her hair in a soft half-up-half-down 'do—a kind of Nancy Sinatra meets glam-rock look that we're totally loving. The Biebs, on the other hand, went way futuristic with bold white details, hard lines, and more of that leather badassery we're seeing him wield lately. Hardly a stationary performer, Bieber's performance ensemble was optimized for movement with easy fit separates like black jeans, sneakers, and this seemingly Keith Haring-inspired jacket.

Lady Gaga's Top Fashion Moments At EMA 2011

Silvery space-age scales, maroon doilies, a giant accordion-style coffee filter, cylindrical face-covering hats, and undulating kale. THIS is what makes an awards appearance by Lady Gaga so special. SHE NEVER DISAPPOINTS! And her presence at this year's MTV Europe Music Awards (aka EMA) as both a performer and nominee (and multiple awards winner) was also another WIN for the Haus of Gaga style cannon. Mother Monster took home four awards, including—her personal fave—the Biggest Fans award. She was also, in our humble opinion, the best style slayer of the night, and her various looks all seemed to follow a similar theme, one we'd like to call FUTURISTIC ALIEN WARRIOR PRINCESS. With ALL outfits by Paco Rabanne, hats by the GENIUS Philip Treacy, with squadrons of dancers wearing Void Of Course (which you may remember from the dildo shoe incident of yore [THANK YOU, NICOLA FORMICHETTI FOR THE CREDITS!]), and that body-con, to-the-floor, silver scaled gown above topped with a multilayered side-pony and a gaggle of matching trophies? Well that's just the beginning, folks.
