Akon performs in Sunrise, Florida, on April 27.
Photo: Getty Images

First off: WUT? Secondly: Tee hee! Akon is nakie! Well, almost. While on tour with Usher, the R&B singer decided to strip down mid-performance, and you know what? We're not even mad about it. Crazy things MUST happen when you're performing in a town called Sunrise, Florida (is this real life?). It's probably, like, the most humid place on Earth, and he's wearing SO MANY LAYERS while simultaneously trying to dance and sing, so who wouldn't want to immediately start disrobing at that point? Leather jacket + forehead sweat beads = problem. He managed to take off a whole slew of stark white garments, including a studded leather motorcycle jacket, V-neck tee, white belt, skinny jeans (with stitched-in knee pads?!), and even his sneakers. But, more important, can we discuss his post striptease bod? Um, HAIIII. It's all shiny and glisten-y, and WOW his legs are definitely crazy-oiled-up status. We love that his nudie ensemble matches (*applause*) and kept his diamond-flooded accessories on for a little extra flair. There's only one tiny, itty, bitty thing we would change about this almost-perfect situation.

Listen, Akon. You are on stage showing off your chiseled bod. You probably spent a BAJILLION hours at the gym sculpting those perfect pecs. You probably sadface-turned down a cupcake at the last birthday party you attended. You might've passed on that extra beer when you were out with the boys all for this SHINING GLORIOUS MOMENT WHEN YOU ARE NAKED ON STAGE IN FRONT OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WITH EVERY CAMERA IN SIGHT DOCUMENTING IT, AND THEN YOU DON'T TAKE YOUR SOCKS OFF?!!! I mean, OK, we KIND OF get it. It's probably gross to go barefoot on a stage and MAYBE you're a germaphobe or something, but those inviso ankle socks are really killing the vibe for us. Luckily, we've got ALL THE REST OF YOU to gander at, so we're not complaining too much, but just keep it in mind for next time. Kay, A.K.?

Jared Leto performs in Boca Raton, Florida, on April 24.
Photo: PictureGroup

30 Second To Mars frontman Jared Leto has gone scissor happy and we KIIIINNDDD of love it. Who needs sleeves on a jean jacket anyways? HE SURE DOESN'T. Who needs red leather gloves with fingers? NOT HIM, THAT'S FOR SURE. I mean, we get it. He likes gloves, but all that coverage "gets in the way" and he can't "play guitar in them" and he just wanted a little "pop of color" that's NOT coming from his hair. And sleeves are just TOO CONSTRICTING, you know? The only true way to be free is by cutting off the sleeves of ALL your shirts. Jared does it. So can you. (P.S.- Jared's not the FIRST one to rock this rural-chic look. K CAV DID IT! WE'RE NOT LYING! P.P.S.- We're kind of jealous. Only in our dreams does a boxy jean vest look amazing and effortless and even a little bit flattering. SIIGGHHH.) Also, is he wearing denim on denim? BALLSY! We loveee that. Of course we're obsessed with his signature aviators and punk-rock style, but only Jared can double MULTIPLE guitars as accessories. But you know what? Who cares that he got a little cutoff crazy? Who cares that denim-on-denim might be considered a fashion faux pas? He's FULLY ESTABLISHED the fact that he can do whatever he wants and look good while doing it. He's worn insane fringe jackets, Snuggie coats, and hand muff trenches, and um, HELLO, Jared's been named the new face for Hugo Boss' men's fragrance. *applause* Jared is obviously doing everything right in the fashion world, and no one is going to stop him. (Especially not us.) Here's to you, Mr. Leto!

Kanye West performing at the Coachella festival in Indio, California, on April 17, and a look from Céline's spring 2011 runway.
Photo: Getty Images

It's sorta weird that everyone's freaking out about Kanye West wearing a Celine blouse from Spring/Summer 2011 when he's been wearing hyper-low-cut-fairly-androgynous diaphanous shirts since like VMA time last year. In fact, Kanye has never at any point been a one to be sartorially run-of-the-mill and we here at MTV Style are TWO-THUMBS-UP-ON-BOARD with men wearing women's shirts. See, the thing is, while menswear blogs may tout the arrival of the (*gasp*) spread collar and vaunt the resurgence of the ("zut alors!") club collar or wax euphoric on how certain shirts boast a slimmer cut or feature washed out floral prints or have looooooooong pockets that merit its $700 pricetag, the silhouette overall remains faithfully orthodox. The sleeves start right at their shoulders. The collar is exactly where you'd expect and the hem is such that it can look cute and outdoorsy untucked or dashing tucked. The end. While the Belgians have long created uniquely complicated and beautiful shirts that are his and hers (Ann Demeulemeester, we will love you forever), womenswear ready-to-wear shirts will reliably go to town on insane prints, asymmetrical hems, crazy-long-plackets, gathered sleeves, leg-o-mutton sleeves, dropped arm's eyes and looooooooooong gauntlet cuffs with a bajillion buttons and it just doesn't seem fair that we're the only ones who get to have fun. So, in the spirit of sharing. We go blouse shopping for Kanye!

Spring 2011 looks from Balenciaga, Marni, and Yves Saint Laurent.
Photos: Imaxtree

Balenciaga is an obvious choice for Kanye especially circa Nicolas Ghesquière where there's a great deal of textural interplay. Kanye often wears leather or majillion-dollar denim jackets so a gauzy shirt would be a tremendous addition to his ladyshirt repertoire.

Okay, we know this Marni thing is a tunic. We also recognize that it has sequins and while we understand that there are barriers to entry for both we also KNOW that if anyone can do it, it's Kanye. Hear us out. This, front-tucked (only, no back tuck) into jeans like it's no big deal with Air Yeezy 2s? Fire.

The YSL is a no brainer. Unbuttoned all the way down. Untucked. Shrugs. Everybody loses their minds over the awesomenitude.

Spring 2011 looks from Cacharel and Hussein Chalayan.
Photos: FirstView

This Cacharel is just obviously so sick it's insane. I want it. Kanye should want it. And hell, we could both wear it exactly this way. As a matter of fact, pop a top button and Tyler the Creator couldshould want this too.

A Hussein Chalayan is just a good investment. Worn in any number of ways, this shirt is versatile, memorable and could close out any show or performance with a drama-sleeved bang. Plus, I want to hear to hear the polysyllabic interplay of "Hussein Chalayan" being name-dropped in a sixteen. Fashion <3 Rap = 4 EVA.

While we weren't personally amongst the sun-soaked masses in Indio, California over the weekend for Coachella, we were indeed skulking allover the Internet watching Kanye's streamed performance last night for a million hours (snippets and setlist can be seen here) and checking out party pics and celeb shots of all our favorite bold names and performers. Of the slew we saw, we particularly dug deez.

IN THE CROWD:

Katy Perry, Kelly Osbourne, and Rihanna at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in Indio, California on April 15 and 16.
Photo: Getty Images

A wide-brimmed hat definitely seemed to be the most popular sunscreen choice and if it wasn't the most protective, it was certainly the prettiest. Katy Perry, Kelly Osbourne and Rihanna all went for a lightweight straw chapeau and its versatility can be seen here. It was retro pretty with printed sundresses (gingham D&G for Katy and a beautiful Southern-looking '40s number for Ms. Osbourne) and yet aptly rugged paired with a camo M-65, denim cut-offs and a very serious expression on Rihanna.

ON THE STAGE:

Robyn, Yelle, and Alexis Krauss from Sleigh Bells performing at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in Indio, California on April 15 and 16.
Photo: Getty Images

Skin-tight spandex was par for the course on Robyn, Yelle and Alexis Krauss of Sleigh Bells fame. Whether it was a printed two-piece flung on with ginormous creepers, or a full, leopard-print catsuit with strooooong shoulders (also with creepers, interesting!) OR paired with an awesome basketball jersey that pays homage both to Michael Jordan AND the "Bells" :) we loved this shellacked layer of goodness on the pretty pins of our favorite stage ladies.

ON BOY WATCH:

Penn Badgley, Kanye West, and David Macklovitch of Chromeo at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in Indio, California on April 16 and 17.
Photo: INFdaily/Getty Images

Dude style ran the gamut over the weekend and Penn was super-duper informal (and barely dressed; much to our amusement and unanimous swoonage), showcasing the classic al fresco festival fashion we all know and love with rolled-up shorts and sunglasses. Kanye West wore an unbuttoned (nehru collared?) printed blouse aaaaaaand sneakerheads went mental over the unveiling of the much-awaited Air Yeezy 2s on his feets and Chromeo's David Macklovitch (and sibling to none other than Fools Gold label founder/DJ/Duck Sauce member/forever hottie A-Trak) donned a perfectly cut, all-white suit looking completely overdressed and GORGEOUS. Om.

Different people use the internet in different ways. Some use it to donate money to impoverished villages so the local community can install a watering pump in the center of town so you can access clean water without having to walk 7 miles or contract dysentery. Others use it as a tool to teach meaningful lessons to future generations of surgeons, lawyers, NASA engineers and still more teachers (god willing). We here at MTV Style use it for a great many fruitful things but mostly to find girls who are so pretty and so winsome with the best hair and bags and, lest we forget, their shoes rule really hard too. The information superhighway is STREWN with such gorgeous ladies (a nigh-ridiculous embarrassment of riches, really) to where it is sometimes difficult to keep them straight.

Two weeks ago (we know, we can't believe it's been so long EITHER), we introduced you to the full-lipped, blunt-banged, mind-bogglingly fetching Jessie J whose full-length album, Who You Are, comes out IN EXACTLY ONE WEEK. Then, as we skulked around in a non-creepy, totally-within-our-job-description, medium-to-high-grade stalking campaign of other pretties we want to collect know more about, which is around the time we ran into Jesse Jo. Such confuselment! Jesse Jo is a 19-year-old, mussed-hair moppet who has been a muse for the better part of her teens and photographed for Elle magazine by LEGENDS like Gilles Bensimon. Educate yourself. Know more and stay informed. Here's what to remember to keep them tidy in your brain boxes DESPITE both being equally stylish and pleasant to look at.

STRAIGHT-UP APPEARANCES:

Jessie J outside BBC Maida Vale Studio in London on March 4, and Jesse Jo at a Vans launch party in West Hollywood on March 29.
Photo: Getty Images

Jessie J (left):
First of all, they look MAD different. Jessie J hails from England and boasts a vampy, stylized appeal. She loves hella bold colors and often gives good smoky eye. Also, as mentioned before, has hard-core COMMITMENT BANGS.
Jesse Jo (right):
Jesse Jo LOOKS like she's from LA. Reliably disheveled looooooong hair with punk rock accessories. Gives good rich girl grime.

SHEER BLACK DELIVERED DIFFERENTLY:

Jessie J press photo, and Jesse Jo for 'No. Magazine.'
Photo: Britney Waldron/The Cobrasnake

Jessie J (left):
So, as we mentioned before Jessie J is a bona fide recording artist (she went Platinum in the UK). Album. Out. In. Week. Cop. She has a definite performance element to her ensembles. Note the angular cutouts (she's a huge fan) and the monster platforms.
Jesse Jo (right):
Jesse Jo was born with strong ties to the music industry through her family. Like, um, CHER IS HER GODMOTHER. Real talk. And she has worked with Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols (no big deal) and Duff McKagan of Guns N' Roses for her own projects, which you can hear here. Cutoff Texas Tuxedo ramped up with the girly stockings. Again, very Los Angeles.

STATEMENT LEATHER JACKETS:

Photo: Getty Images/The Cobrasnake

Jessie J (left):
Snug, cropped with a shearling trim but still fairly traditional. Huge hoops, Minnie Mouse ears (naturally) and a single forefinger ring. Check the manicure and the enormous smile. White seamless, studio shoot.

Jesse Jo (right):
Jesse on the other hand is typically shot candid by her bestie The Cobrasnake and looks slightly morose. Multiple rings. A Jeremy Scott bone-adorned leather jacket we would maim for.

LEOPARD PRINT SHOES VS. LEOPARD PRINT BACKPACK:

Jessie J (left):
Both love animal-printed accessories and have the sartorial aplomb to combine it with a print. Jessie keeps it graphic and geometric.
Jesse Jo (right):
Jesse keeps her leopard age-appropriate on a backpack in her Vans collabo lookbook.

IN TUNE WITH THEIR ROOTS:

Jessie J at a Vivienne Westwood launch party in London on Feb. 18, and Jesse Jo for 'No. Magazine.'
Photo: Getty Images/The Cobrasnake

Jessie J (left):
Jessie J doesn't drink or smoke. Diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat as a kid, Jessie suffered a minor stroke at 18 and now keeps herself in clean condition by not pumping her facehole with poison. She also does "au naturel" by dressing in a surreal, full-on A Midsummer Night's Dream situation.
Jesse Jo (right):
Jesse Jo's parents are rock-and-roll accoutrement royalty--Laurie and Richard Stark. As in, the folks that founded Chrome Hearts. Jesse does nature by flinging herself into a pile of leafs dressed like a frickin' punk rock poster child.

BRIGHT METALLICS:

Jessie J at the BRIT Awards in London on Feb. 15, and Jesse Jo for 'No Magazine.'
Photo: Getty Images/The Cobrasnake

Jessie J (left):
Even when she's not onstage, Jessie J still looks vibrant. Her love of cutaways maintains as does her love of reflective surfaces and ornate, European-feeling, saturated prints. Super louche, super riche, super beautiful and put-together.
Jesse Jo (right):
Jesse Jo is similarly up-market in her choices (UM, CELLO JEREMY SCOTT CLOVEN HOOF BOOTS IN THE COLORWAY WE WANT BAD), but her outfit always looks deceptively casual. Short-shorts are par for the course, and the gnarly city dumpster seems as deliberately placed as a prop.

I MEAN, THEY'RE BOTH FREAKIN' ADORABLE, BUT YOU CAN SEE HOW THEY'RE WILDLY DIFFERENT NOW, RIGHT? THERE IS A QUIZ LATER:

Fergie in the audience and performing at Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards in L.A. on April 2.
Photo: Getty Images

Wow. Fergie certainly looked fetching this past weekend at the KCAs, and while we adore this skintight, vibrant, all-over print Dolce & Gabbana sheath on the left (it is cramaaazing), her performance frock knocked it out of the park, bounced on a car, tottered down the street, ate a jelly sandwich and surreptitiously won the lottery shortly after curing cancer because UM, HI, IT IS MADE OUT OF LEGOS!!???? We can't imagine the man hours and eye strain required to train those little plastic bricks to scale curves like Fergie's (that sweetheart neckline is NO JOKE... if you're picking up what we're puttin' down...) but judging from one of our favorite fashiony Frenchman, JC de Castelbajac's LEGO-inspired collections of yore, his fingers are as nimble as they come. Which one do you love more? We're horrifically torn. The D&G to wear. The LEGO jump-off to pull out and stunt on friends, haters, people you love but could stand to be hated by? UGH. I can haz ALL??!! Hurts our feelings...

Patrick Wolf performs in London on March 29.
Photo: Getty Images

Indie darling Patrick Wolf is JUST that—an absolute and total darling! We're not only obsessed with his dreamy voice and multi-instrumentalist skillzzzz, but we're SERIOUSLY into his buttoned-up performance outfit he sported last night in London (uh, can you say electric violin???). First off, WHOA BUTTON SLEEVES that kinda remind us of studded sleeve Burberry trenches. And, speaking of Burberry, did you know lovely Patrick modeled for its 2007 campaign? Well, he DID). Next up: floppy tie. Awwww. What's not to love? It makes him look young, fresh, and endearing and vulnerable. Pants: Mmmm hmmm. Makes it look all suit-like and stuff with, WAIT FOR IT, sequin boots? (*Zooms in*) NUH UH... Those aren't sequins... THOSE ARE BUTTONS! He has all-button shoes to match his all-button jacket! OMGGG he IS the ultimate boss of buttons! BENJAMIN BUTTON'S HEAD SPLODES!

Kate Nash performs in Trent, England on March 20, and Shenae Grimes attends the Vans X Jesse Jo launch party in West Hollywood on March 29.
Photo: Getty Images/WireImage

They aren't as jaw-dropping as face implants (à la Lady Gaga), but the black hearts that British singer/songwriter Kate Nash and "90210" actress Shenae Grimes recently rocked on their cute mugs did grab our attention. Kate painted a medium-size heart on each cheek, while Shenae did a single teardrop-style heart in the corner of her right eye (P.S. it looks like the handy work of waterproof liquid liner). The whole thing sorta reminds us of Gucci Mane's ice cream cheek tattoo. Memba? Ya know, butterflies, flowers, ice cream cones, hearts, balloons, etc.—they fall under that yeah-I-have-a-real/fake-face-tatoo-but-it's-sooooooo-sweet-so-it's-not-scary umbrella. We're still trying to figure out if the hearts are GREAT or just gratuitous. What do you think—do you <3 it?

Willow Smith performs in Manchester, England on March 21.

Uuuuuuum you guys. And by "you guys," I mean, ALL AWESOME PEOPLE WHO PLAY STREET FIGHTER AND/OR HAVE EYES. Check out the outfit similarities. I know there is a great deal of pressing World News and this here internet is just one rabid land grab where we scrabble like wild animals for the swiftly dwindling attention spans of a readership that is already so bored with this sentence like I am bored writing it because I am no read books but LOOK AT THIS. Doesn't this bring you joy? Remember joy? It smells like how the first bite of waffle tastes. With ice cream. And bits of vanilla specks that identify the ice cream as real quality. And if you don't know who the Street Fighter character is, it's M. Bison (aka Master Bison). He's evil. Learn about him here. Or don't learn about it because who has time???? *Drinks ALL the coffee, flips table and sets fire to hair*

Julian Casablancas and Nick Valensi of The Strokes perform during the 2011 SXSW Music Festival in Austin on March 17.
Photo: Getty Images

Our 16-year-old selves were FUH-REAKING out when we heard The Strokes were performing at SXSW in Austin this year. And judging from all the write-ups of the showcase (that included FIREWORKS... blorg why weren't we there??!!) basically everyone lost their minds at what was apparently an awesome event. When the guys hit the stage in their recognizable rock 'n' roll ensembles, we began to wonder one thing—do these men ever age? The answer: Hmm... maybe BUT HAVE A LITTLE RESPECT. Minus the wedding bands (...and babies), these dudes still basically embody the same brand of superhot awesome as they did 10 years ago (good God was it 10 years ago?), and we LOVE IT. Lead singer Julian Casablancas wooed us with his distressed vintage leather jacket, inside-out graphic tee, pearl wash black skinny jeans, aviator sunglasses, and a calculator watch. Guitarist Nick Valensi looked '90s chic in an open flannel shirt, ripped white tee, gray skinnies, and pendant necklace paired with a Cobain-y bob and facial scruff. Fabrizio Moretti was ANNOYINGLY bathed in this otherworldly glow and blurry behind the drums in every damned photo known to the internet so here is just a hilariously gratuitous and RIDIC SMOKIN' shot of him and Devendra Banhart (ZOMG <3333333 :))))) at 3.1 Phillip Lim earlier this year wearing... OH JEEZ WHO CARES? (om nom nom). And... erm... yeah, Albert Hammond Jr. kept it simple in a vintage Neil Young tee and black pants, while bassist Nikolai Fraiture went all out in a white suit, white shirt, and giant buffalo belt buckle. OH MAN, thank you information superhighway, you rule. xoxo
