Thanks to her soulful breakout singles like "Wildest Moments" and "Running," by now everyone should be very well acquainted with the vocal powerhouse that is Jessie Ware (if not, get schooled here!). But something else that you should know about our latest Artist To Watch is that the London singer has an elegant style that perfectly complements her honey-smooth sound, and this is why we're naming her our newest Rising Style Star.

Proving that you don't always have to OD on glitter or rock rainbow wigs to necessarily make a statement, Jessie sticks to low-key red carpet staples with a quiet power. One consistent thread running through many of her outfits over the past year is not-so-basic black, like that effortlessly cool crop top number by Miu Miu she sported to this year's BRIT Awards. The bedazzled sleeves lend the outfit a touch of opulence, the flash of midriff gives it edge, and the long skirt keeps the look from swaying too far into belly dancer territory. Something else we've noticed: the 27-year-old tends to choose long, ankle-to-floor-skimming silhouettes, like the white floral embellished dress she wore to the BRIT Awards nominations and the sophisticated cut-out gown she rocked at the Mercury Prize Awards. There's no denying that Jessie has impressively mastered the formal fash thing in record time, but when she's NOT collecting prizes left and right (which is becoming rarer and rarer these days), chances are the singer has slipped into her off-duty uniform of tailored pants and classic blouses.

Rita Ora and Karl Lagerfeld in Monaco.

Sure, you can hang out backstage at the Chanel show all you want (in our dreams!) but how do you know you're REALLY tight with Mr. Karl Lagerfeld? Well, if you happen to Rita Ora, that would mean winning bragging rights to a dress designed by the Kaiser himself! NBD, right? Rita performed at the suuuuuuper fancy Bal De La Rose Du Rocher event in Monte-Carlo this weekend, decked out in a burlesque-inspired dress custom-made by the Chanel designer and making a serious statement at the sold-out event. She tweeted an image of the sketch a couple of days ago, saying "Tonight's attire. Designed by Karl Lagerfeld called the The Ora. Fashion it does the craziest things sometimes. #wow #Chanel #fukwatevaitisyourdoing Hehehe #werowdy." Rita, we hope you've saved the sketches in a gold-plated frame for all of posterity, because THIS.IS.MAJOR. Also, the fact that Karl dubbed the dress "The Ora"?! Here's another hashtag for ya... #Jealous.

Carly Rae Jepsen

Here's the thing about Carly Rae Jepsen: the Canadian singer might be a pop sensation, but she's one whose onstage wardrobe stays firmly planted in the realm of "totally and 100% wearable." And that's not a bad thing. As much as we'd love to THINK that we'd wear Rihanna's leather crop tops or one of Lana Del Rey's vintage-inspired wrap dresses out and about, the chances of that actually happening regularly are slim to none. Carly's easy sensibility is one of the many reasons why we've been eyeballing the musician very closely while she's on tour overseas, and we've started to notice a pattern (thanks Instagram!). Think statement jackets, wild denim, and TONS of tights. While we're used to seeing her in basic black, though, lately she's been switching it up with a polka dot pair, and we're in love.

Angel Haze, Macklemore, and Karen O. sport fringe jackets.
Photo: Getty Images

As Macklemore so aptly put it in "Thrift Shop," "John Wayne ain't got nothing on my fringe game." It was true then, and the words are still ringing true now, thanks to the singer's TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY on-point fringe game from SXSW. That Southwest blanket vest-type thing he sported at the Woodies might have a permanent place in our hearts, but the brown fringe number he worked at the Perez Hilton party comes in as a close second, because duh, it's amazing. Paired with a classy polka dot button-up and some layered gold necklaces, the look is a sort of Western gentleman ensemble we can totally get behind. We know, we know...fringe jackets aren't exciting groundbreaking— a quick breeze through your local vintage store or a rundown of Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey's recent music videos will tell you that. But what was old is clearly new again, and there's no better rep of that fact than Angel Haze, whose trimmed topper got a seriously modern edge at SXSW.

Solange

Solange kills SXSW festival style dead.
Photo: Courtesy of @devhynes' Instagram

OKAY: The views expressed in this blog post are not necessarily those reflected by Viacom and its affiliates or more than two members of MTV Style, but ERMEHGEERD The Best Dressed Person at SXSW according to me and my eyeballs has to be Solange. Festivals in March in Texas can be a horrorshow in terms of weather. Not only do you have to account Mercury-bustin', hot-ass afternoons but you have to sling a light layer and tote a more serious jacket because the temperature can vacillate something like thirty degrees on the same day. I went to college in Texas so I know this. Solange grew up in the Lone Star so she knows this. The difference between me and Solange is that I opted purely for function when I rammed a rando array of cotton shapes into my suitcase (I relied heavily on accessories which works but is admittedly a tad amateur) and she packed a keenly-edited melange of printed suits and vibrantly hued, shrunken, basics that looked exquisite and popped against the dusty landscape of shorts and tees. More importantly though, she looked elegant, effortless, and COMFORTABLE while she danced and sang her face off during the handful of appearances she had slated for the week.

Thanks to the 2013 mtvU Woodie Awards, yesterday was a HUGE day for the MTV family here in Austin. Situated smack dab in the midst of the SXSW music festival, so many of our favorite artists took the stage in the name of MTV. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Haim, Joey Bada$$, Trinidad James and so many more straight-up killed it yesterday, musically and sartorially.

MACKLEMORE & RYAN LEWIS

We're pretty consistently impressed with Macklemore's performance style, but this Southwest blanket vest situation has to be Top 10 so far. I mean, HAI, the weave of this thing is unbelievably festive. Mack took the sleeveless topper off mid-way through his set, but Ryan Lewis and the laundry list of guest features kept the fashion action coming with Wanz in a red three-piece suit and printed blazer, Mary Lambet serving retro '50s steez, and Schoolboy Q rocking a Supreme hockey jersey and printed bucket hat.

Beyonce wearing Julien Macdonald on 'Good Morning America' in 2011.
Photo: Getty Images

When Beyonce's The Mrs. Carter Show tickets went on sale, you did NOT want to be in our office. It. Was. Intense. (Lots of yelling.) Needless to say, we're all really excited for Bey's shows this summer, mostly because we cannot WAIT to see what Queen Bey is going to wear! We wagered a couple of guesses (based on Bey's epic Thierry Mugler-costumed announcement images and her Rubin Singer leather look for the Super Bowl Halftime show), but it turns out neither of those looks were indicators of Bey's complete tour steez. Grazia Daily reports the superstar has tapped red carpet fave Julien Macdonald to design her tour looks. The UK designer has created performance outfits for Beyonce before, including her 2011 Good Morning America appearance (above) and 2013 New Year's Eve performance in Las Vegas.

San Cisco

We usually try to avoid all sorts of uncomfortable situations, but leave it to Aussie foursome San Cisco's breakout single "Awkward" to prove a KEY exception to our tried-and-true rule. While the title may conjure up all sorts of memories you'd rather forget, this track is an indie pop gem, filled with happy-go-lucky beats, a singalong chorus, and a sunny vibe that makes even the most cringeworthy moments seem not so bad. The band has an equally great onstage style, with the boys opting for printed button-downs and tees and drummer Scarlett (the only girl!) rocking out in dresses and bare feet. The quartet is currently on the road across the U.S., but made a pit stop at MTV, where we quizzed 'em them about their tour must-haves, the differences between Australian and American style, and their secret to staying comfy onstage.

Rihanna Diamonds World Tour

Rihanna's oh-so-anticipated (and sold out!) Diamonds World Tour officially kicked off on Friday night in Buffalo, New York, which means there's tons of fresh performance outfits for us to drool over. Yasss! When it comes to Ri's on-stage ensembles, she doesn't mess around—longtime stylist Mel Ottenberg helped create an almost entirely-custom wardrobe for her tour, which includes everything from metallic jumpsuits to holographic sneakers to floor-sweeping capes. We counted 7 outfit changes (dang!) from her Friday show—one of our favorites being a superhero-inspired red, white, yellow and black custom Adam Selman (who we talked to last week!) leather bustier and pants number paired with custom Manolo Blahnik white snakeskin boots. According to WWD, Rihanna's all-black ensemble was custom Givenchy couture by Riccardo Tisci, which featured a black and white leather bra with golden buckles and stars, black silk and satin embroidered shorts, and a gold shark tooth necklace that says "RIRI." Also, PLEASE peep those thigh-high gold-studded leather boots. #dead

Paloma Faith miiiight not be a household name for those of us stateside quite yet, but fingers crossed that's about to change really, really soon. The English singer and songwriter is already a HUGE star overseas thanks to her soaring high-pitched vocals, two albums (which are both extremely awesome, we might add) and a penchant for turning her live performances into a fashion explosion of eye-popping dresses, heels, and even headwear. Now that her U.S. debut Fall To Grace has finally hit America and she's in the midst of a whirlwind global tour, it's officially time to crown Paloma Faith our newest rising style star. So get ready to wake up and hear the music!

Proving that the stage really IS her personal catwalk, Paloma's a huge fan of rocking emerging designers like William Wilde and Wendy Benstead alongside mainstays like Dolce & Gabbana. But whether it's sequins, jewel tones, or a serious mermaid silhouette, Paloma pulls it off with standout charisma. It should go without saying that this lady is an utter beauty chameleon, as well, rocking her auburn hair in retro rolls, a messy beehive, OR topping it off with hats by her fave milliner Piers Atkinson.
