Lend me your ear for a moment. I've been feeling complain-y about red carpets as of late, bristling at the lack of risks being taken, and feeling nostalgic for the times when, say, Bjork would wear a swan and everyone lost their minds. Guess what. That swan designer, Marjan Pejoski, went on to create KTZ, one of the most important musician-fan labels OUT. She was 20 years ahead of her time! The red carpet should be a place where style is DEFINED!
ANYWAY, one person who consistently Brings It (capital B-I, because she's a Bad one), is Rihanna, because doy.
What could be better than watching all our favorite stars get glammed up for the MTV Movie Awards?? Pretty much nothing...except for maybe watching Rachel Antonoff host MTV.com's Red Carpet Report. The gorgeous and personable designer did a stellar job co-hosting the VMAs report last year, so it should come as no surprise that she has already been killing it tonight. She shares red carpet reporting duties with some awesome co-hosts—Zendaya, Tyler Posey, Josh Horowitz, and Christina Garibaldi—but Rachel is holding it down regarding all things celebrity fashion and style (also, what everyone's underwear situation might be).

Over the last year or so, Nicki Minaj has abandoned her outrageous Harajuku style and rainbow reverie of wigs in favor of more demure, adult garments. While her style chutzpah was something we greatly admired, we cannot overstate how totally HERE FOR HER we are now, as she transitions into a more sophisticated, grown-woman style. And while her silver-screen debut isn't until the forthcoming Cameron Diaz/Leslie Mann/Kate Upton vehicle, The Other Woman, a rom-com that's probably not going to win any Oscars (just a guess), her 2014 MTV Movie Awards look includes so much statuesque, Grecian beauty it's almost like we've glimpsed into her future as an award-winning actress as well as top rapper.

Are you ready? We're ready. The day we've all been waiting for is finally hurr—it's Movie Awards day! While Conan O'Brien is strapping on his finest pair of jeggings, the other attendees are taking to the carpet, talking to MTV.com Red Carpet Report correspondent Rachel Antonoff, and spilling the deets on what they're wearing. Earlier this week we took a look back at memorable outfits—the only question is, what will we remember from 2014?

Oh hi, puppy Alien.

Not that you needed another reason to watch the MTV Movie Awards today, but, um, there are going to be puppies on the red carpet. In costumes. ICYMI, Tyler Posey, one of tonight's pre-show hosts, was on the red carpet yesterday hanging out with the fancy pups, and you can see them for yourself via our our behind-the-scenes cameras on All Access Live). Seriously, could anything be better? Designer/genius/wardrobe specialist Heather Zweigel made costumes for the li'l guys—Ron Burgundy's suit from Anchorman 2, Bilbo's outfit from The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug, Richie DiMaso's '70s suit vest from American Hustle, Alien's Hawaiian shirt and cornrows from Spring Breakers, and so many more. If you liked seeing Bradley Cooper in a deep-V, imagine how you'll feel seeing a puppy in one. *heart eyes emoji x's 100*
Oh hi, puppy Superman.

We had a chance to chat with Heather about designing for dogs, her favorite costume, and how she reacted when she found out she'd be designing for tiny dog bodies (spoiler alert: She was excited). Click below the jump for her answers, behind-the-scenes deets, and more pictures of puppy movie costumes!
As you can probably imagine, we are pretttty excited to see what everyone will wear to the MTV Movie Awards this Sunday. It is perhaps the most casual awards show out there, which leads to memorable outfits year after year. With a number of our faves like Lupita Nyong'o, Nicki Minaj, Emma Stone, and Shailene Woodley slated to appear, and Ellie Goulding and Rihanna on tap to perform, we're basically counting down the nanoseconds until the red carpet.
Because it is Movie Awards weekend, we figured we'd dedicate this week's #TBT to the 10 most memorable outfits (IMHO) of Movie Awards past. Check them out in all their glory, below.

Before Ryan Gosling was ~Ryan Gosling~, he was The Dude From The Notebook™. At the 2005 Movie Awards, Ryan decided to make a political statement, wearing a plain white tee that simply had "Darfur" printed across the front. He wore a black blazer with the shirt (hello, it's a red carpet), but ditched it when he and Rachel McAdams decided to reenact their kiss from The Notebook on stage. Rachel was dressed in bootcut jeans, pointed toe stilettos, and a strapless lace bustier, which is perhaps the most 2005-y outfit to ever exist.
Your official MTV.com 2014 Movie Awards red carpet host!

Major news, y'all: Rachel Antonoff is hosting the 2014 MTV Movie Awards "Red Carpet Report" for MTV.com! I know! We're excited, too. After doing a stellar job alongside Grimes at the 2013 VMAs, Rachel is back and will bring us all things fashion and style from the carpet in Los Angeles. How can you watch her in action? Good question. While Zendaya, Tyler Posey, and MTV's Josh Horowitz and Christina Garibaldi will be co-hosting the live pre-show on MTV, Rachel will be serving her best Christiane Amanpour via Ryan Seacrest and we'll be posting those interview segments right here on MTV.com throughout the night.
We at MTV Style go way back with Rachel—besides being huge fans of her clothing line, she starred in an episode of House of Style with BFF Mae Whitman. Rachel shares our giddiness, telling us, "I'm thrilled to be asked back and excited to really get to the bottom of who is dressing left and who is dressing right!" Well, Rachel, we're lucky to have you (again!).
Sure, the Oscars at the beginning of the month brought an end to traditional awards season, but Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards usher in the 2014 spring/summer season—one marked by shorts and miniskirts, bright colors, and beachy waves. The temperatures might still be lurking in the high 40s on the northern east coast, but the PYTs on the KCAs orange carpet are helping us get inspired for warmer weather.

Nick girl Ariana Grande paid homage to the network with a little orange shift dress. Rather than exactly matching the carpet (and the awards blimps!), the latter half of "Sam & Cat" opted for a lighter tangerine. Her dress wasn't the only part of her outfit repping for Nickelodeon: Her quilted Chanel purse, which she tweeted a closer picture of, was customized with iconic Nick cartoon characters from Rugrats, Hey Arnold!, Catdog, and Aaahh!!! Real Monsters.
Kiernan Shipka, Shaliene Woodley, and Zoe Kravitz at the 'Divergent' premiere in L.A.

Only two days until Divergent, y'all! Gather your tent, sleeping bags, and tinned food because you better start camping out now. You can borrow the essentials from Shailene Woodley, if you need to. I'm sure she's already camping out in front of a theater, but not for the movie, just cause that's how she lives her life, man. She wouldn't need to wait to see the movie, anyway—she saw it last night at the L.A. premiere (also because she was there during filming, etc.), where she wore a beaded, floor-length, one shoulder Fall 2010 Elie Saab gown. It was not camping appropriate, but as usual, she looked like an Earthy goddess.
Kiernan Shipka and Zoe Kravitz opted for shorter Spring 2014 collection dresses—Kiernan in Valentino and Zoe in Balenciaga. Both also wore fall/winter/spring/summer's hottest beauty trend: strong brows. Teach me your ways, ladies. I want to throw my hat into the bold brow ring, but I need a trainer. Hit me up if you're interested!
Sure, the Oscars are glamorous and esteemed and a major cultural moment, but I think I'd rather attend an Oscars after-party than the ceremony itself. The casual atmosphere of the post-show bashes is way less "I'd like to thank the Academy" and way more (to quote Matthew McConaughey), "Alright, alright, alriiiiight." We saw some pretty amazing looks on the red carpet last night for sure, but the parties brought out some new fashions that totally reflected the more fun phase of the evening. Check out some of our faves:
LUPITA NYONG'O IN MIU MIU

After winning big last night, Lupita swapped out her princess Prada gown for this flirty Miu Miu dress. The sea foam fringe and buckled straps reminded us of a day spent at the beach—the perfect image for a first-time Oscar winner. Lupita held onto the same jewelry she wore at the ceremony and clutched her new statuette for the entire night (totally what I would do, too).
