Ladies and gents, we welcome you to the 2011 EMA live from Belfast, Northern Ireland! Hosted by Miss Selena Gomez (who will, apparently, undergo TEN costume changes throughout the show) with performances by Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber, we're anticipating all kinds of style shenanigans. So far, we're smitten with Selena's lace Marchesa dress, Katy Perry's high-heeled saddle shoes, and Jessie J's wild leopard Dolce & Gabbana ensemble. Without further ado, we bid you to check out all of the red carpet fashion action!

Amanda Seyfried at the "In Time" premiere in London.
Photo: Getty Images

How many stylists are screaming in agony over Amanda Seyfried's daring choice to wear (GASP! CRASH NOISES! LIGHTNING BOLTS!) shorts for the red carpet premiere of her new film In Time co-starring Justin Timberlake? This is just not done, people. Do you have any idea what kind of phosphorescent curve ball this throws into the space-time continuum that is red carpet uniform dressing? Not only did Miss Seyfried—who we might add, looked lovely and lit from within—wear shorts, she wore a short SUIT, and not just any short suit, an electric blue H&M one with black piping and a black button-up shirt underneath. It was like she was giving the finger to cocktail dresses everywhere, especially the expensive ones. Also? She decided to up her rebel game by buttoning her shirt all the way up to her upper throat region as if to offset her super short shorts. But we're not complaining. Oh no, we're rejoicing because someone finally had the cajones to try something DIFFERENT.

Elle Fanning and Emma Stone wear grandma dresses to the 15th Annual Hollywood Film Awards Gala.
Photo: WireImage

Ask anyone remotely tuned into the young Hollywood fashion scene and they will agree that of aaaall the pretty little fawns of girls loping down the red carpet these days, Elle Fanning and Emma Stone are two of the brightest burning style stars of late. These girls exhibit the winning combination of not only being bold enough to dabble in all the latest trends from mixed prints to peplum skirts but also walking tall in their adventurous taste with their heart-stopping beauty game and porcelain features. However, the sartorial choices we saw from last night's 15th Annual Hollywood Film Awards Gala sort of leave us scratching our heads. Rather than looking the youthful glamazons we've grown so happily accustom to, Elle and Emma chose long-hemmed, crew-necked dresses that, while ethereal and feminine no doubt, look a little, well... grandma-ish.

Chloë Moretz and Hailee Steinfeld at "Variety'''s Power Of Youth event in Hollywood.
Photo: Getty Images

Young Hollywood knows exactly how to dress for the red carpet these days—especially with the help of stylists who are able to snag the latest looks from the runways. However, sometimes the youngest of these soon-to-be leading ladies end up looking a little too stylee-styled and wayyyyy older than their early teens. (We're talking red carpet disasters involving muumuu-ish gowns, ridiculous heels, or bouffant hairdos that look more ruh-roh than retro, especially on a 15-year-old.) Two gals who seem to be getting it right, though, are Chloë Moretz and Hailee Steinfeld. Both rising screen stars have started making names for themselves within fashion circles, with Chloë rocking the pages of Harper's Bazaar and Hailee becoming the (sad) face of Miu Miu. Both actresses were honored at Variety's Power of Youth event—which celebrates young stars who dedicate themselves to humanitarian causes (nice one, ladies!)—and each one looked AH-MAZE in, get this, grown-up looks from both the runway and older lady brands. How did they pull it off?

Michelle Williams

Hollywood actresses have their fair share of job perks, but dressing up in ready-to-wear a full season before a collection is due to hit stores has to be one of the best. They're getting much quicker about it, too. Much like Vogue Japan editor, Anna Dello Russo, who wore an outfit from Kanye West's line three days after the show, Michelle Williams followed suit by stepping out in a pastel green Christian Dior gown from the Spring 2012 collection for the premiere of her new (Oscar bait) movie, My Week with Marilyn.

Looking modern and nothing like her onscreen Marilyn character (which is truly mind-blowing if you've seen the trailer), Michelle kept her hair and makeup simple, letting the delicate, floor-grazing, mint green dress speak for itself. Accessorized with a simple black belt just like on the runway, we have to say we actually prefer the pixie-topped Miss Williams over the runway version. It also appears as if candy almond colors are officially a thing as evidenced by Lady Gaga's recent mint green fairy look in London, and the majority of the Louis Vuitton spring 2012 collection. Sweet!

Jessie J at the MOBO Awards in Glasgow, Scotland, on Oct. 5.
Photo: Getty Images/WireImage

The autumnal season is upon us, and as is traditional to this time of year, it's all about change—dark change if you want to get literal. We've noticed all matters of style transformations in keeping with the soon-to-be darker nights (hi, hot cocoa Chloe Sevigny), but we were blown away by the cascading FAIRY-TALE CURLS that Jessie J debuted on the red carpet of the MOBO awards in Scotland. I mean, HOLY HIGHLAND, right? She looks ahhhmazing with this new sideswept, retro 'do paired with a lace gown that is one part saucy hot-panted villain, all other parts style superSTAH. While we were slightly obsessed fans of her inky black bob, we're adoring this vampy new look that still seems totally Jessie when accented with gold heart earrings, a matching bracelet and rings, black lacquered nails, and a crimson grin that lights up a press line like nobody's biz. Oh, and the vines that are delicately creeping up her décolletage? They're creepy-cool in a pre-Halloween, gothy sort of way. We'd say this entire transformation has us positively bewitched.

Last Friday night, a slew of our favorite starlets came together for a magical night of fashion, music, and general fabulousness thanks to the folks at Teen Vogue. All the pretty young girls flocked to the mag's ninth annual Young Hollywood party in Los Angeles, and of course, the well-heeled pack blazed a trail lined with totally accessible and replicable summer-to-fall transitional trends.

The Teen Vogue party's PYTs turned out statement-making cocktail dresses for Friday night's affair. Shenae Grimes wore an edgy leather sleeveless dress with a crew neck and A-line skirt while costar Jessica Lowndes donned a frilly tiered polka-dot frock with a mega-sculpting boned bustier. Aimee Teegarden opted for a classic LBD by Kova&T paired with understated Jerome C. Rosseau heels, a Coach clutch, and a simple slick ponytail to let her ornate Dannijo necklace do all the talking. JoJo went for color with this bold magenta and red colorblocked mini and balanced out the look with nude peep-toes.

Ariel Winter at the 2011 Emmy Awards.
Photo: Getty Images

The Emmys were last night. A grip of scarlet, floor-length gowns traversed the red carpet. Hair ranged from updo to beach waves. Also, purple was a thing, and we were maybe confusled and beweirdtrested by Gwyneth Paltrow's Pucci dress that was both gorgeous and inappropriate. We did not LOVE Amy Poehler's dress but loved absolutely everything else about her. Coach Taylor won an award because he deserved one for being THE BEST (CLEAR EYES, FULL HEARTS, CAN'T LOSE!), and Modern Family swept the comedy category. On the topic of Modern Family, here's where things get delicate and dicey for us.

First of all, the show is great. The characters are highly developed and believable, and we love the underdog, smarty-pants awesomeness of Alex Dunphy. We maybe totally relate to not being the cute one or, more appropriately, the one who doesn't get cute until college and then MAKING MINCEMEAT out of all the girls who developed early and, let's face it, peaked too early too. So it's hard to make a point of not liking Ariel Winter's dress from last night. Especially since, we get it, it's "grown up" and supposed to be like, "Oh snap, who is this stunning butterfly in place of this squirmy, hairy grub-looking thing that was RIGHT HERE next to this gnarly dried up, discarded pupa husk...," but instead it makes us feel uncomfortable. We think this dress is inappropriate. There's too much conspicuous boobage. Too much form-fittingness. Which sucks because the dress itself is pretty and frilly, and she does honestly look otherwise beautiful.

Not to sound like the wizened old hag that I absolutely empirically am BUT I just feel like a dress for a 13-year-old girl (woman? IDK lady? GAH) should be more playful. Especially when the contrast between having braces and a peekaboo cutaway at the mamm glands makes me want to blind every perv-bot dude in the ogling radius. Ariel, you're frickin' amazing, now please go put on a sweater. Or a wrap. Or some chain mail. Thank you.

Like most of the fash-hungry population, we here at MTV Style just LOVE ourselves a good awards show. The sparkle of every sequin and bead, the sheen of every satin and silk—we want it all. From the red carpet to the stage to the pretaped vignettes, the starlets of tonight's 2011 Emmy Awards pulled out all the stops, and so compelled were we by the parade of scintillating beauties that we HAD TO note our top 10 dresses from the night.

Lea Michele stunned on the red carpet in a bright red floor-length Marchesa gown. She kept things simple with natural makeup and glossy, straight hair, left down. All the better to showcase the drama of the dress's ruffled shoulder embellishments and sweeping open back.

Nina Dobrev, Adrianne Palicki, and Lea Michele at the 63rd Emmy Awards.
Photo: Getty Images

Forgive us if words run together for a bit. We're just in such a state of paralyzing shock right now. It's just so rare that (A) a slew of starlets decide to swaddle themselves in the same color at the same event and (B) that a mere 10 minutes into an award ceremony's preshow red carpet coverage, we've already LOCKED down a trend. *wipes away a single happy tear* A resounding thank you to the ladies in red at the 2011 Emmy Awards from the bottom of our hearts for not only making our lives a little bit easier, but also a lot more beautiful.

While there's always that initial fear of whether one should wear red on the red carpet, Nina Dobrev threw caution to the wind, and it WORKED. The Vampire Diaries actress absolutely stunned in this drop-dead strapless scarlet Donna Karan with a voluminous fishtail that is SO bodycon it looks straight-up sewn onto her impossibly hourglass physique. Adrianne Palicki also wore a fire-engine-colored frock, but hers was a satin sweetheart neckline with a halter and seductive thigh-high slit by Dolce & Gabbana. Lea Michele's floor-length Marchesa with its ruched shoulder embellishments and sweeping open back was a vision of Hollywood glamour. SEVERAL other vixens dared to wear red on the red carpet, including Kate Winslet, Sarah Hyland, and Sofia Vergara. See the rest of the ladies in red after the jump!
