Sometimes the simplest outfit choices are the ones that catch our eyes the most. No blingy chains. No crazy colored hair. No wild patterns. Such was the case with Glee's Matthew Morrison, NCSI's LL Cool J, and The Office's John Krasinski, who each picked black-on-black-on-black monochrome suits to wear to the 2011 Screen Actors Guild Awards show last night. While LL Cool J and Krasinski (in Prada) kept their looks traditional by wearing ties, Matthew (in Prada) left his neck gear at home for a more laid back (but just-as-chic) vibe. For the fellas, an all-black suit is what a "Little Black Dress" is for the ladies—it's the genius go-to that's almost impossible to look bad in, which is why we declare all three actors red carpet winners. But, what do you think?

Dressing for the Sundance Film Festival, which wrapped over the weekend, required a balancing act. On the one hand, attendees had to consider layering up to keep cozy in the Park City, Utah chill. And on the other hand, actresses had to look pretty and polished for back-to-back press ops and photo calls throughout the week. Here, we look at four stars who nailed the sartorial challenge.

ELIZABETH BANKS:

Outdoors, Elizabeth Banks, who promoted My Idiot Brother, rocked a red puffer coat, which had funky fur lining along the hood. For a charity brunch the actress wore a beige sweater with a rounded V-neckline, which she threw over skinny black pants and ankle booties. We love how chic and sophisticated the blocked neutral colors look together. Another keep-the-chill-out ensemble included a trench teamed with a leopard print scarf.

ZOOEY DESCHANEL:

Zooey Deschanel, who also stars in My Idiot Brother, kept toasty with gray ear warmers, a peacoat and rain boots in a lively pattern. Back inside, the actress/singer layered a black sweater with a light gray blazer and a plaid schoolgirl skirt. On another occasion she chose a short-sleeve tiered dress, tights and two-toned shoes.

KATE BOSWORTH:

Kate Bosworth at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival at the "Another Happy Day" premiere on Jan. 23, at the 2011 Creative Coalition Spotlight Initiative Awards on Jan. 24, and at the Samsung Galaxy Tab Lift on Jan. 24 in Park City, Utah.

The black knee-length Chloe dress and the Dolce & Gabbana floor-length floral gown that Kate Bosworth wore while premiering Another Happy Day were our favorite looks of the whole festival. Outdoors, the actress went for a biker chic look which included black combat boots and a mustard dress.

DEMI MOORE:

Demi Moore, who showed two movies at Sundance—Margin Call and Another Happy Day, picked a black, voluminous dress by Victoria Beckham for her indoor look. She jazzed up the LBD with little black boots for some dramatic flair. Outside, Mrs. Ashton Kutcher looked weather-appropriate in a muted outfit, which included a gray fur coat, sweater and pants, as well as lace-up booties. Demi kept with the dark theme during another photo op, where she wore a draping jumpsuit with an oversize sweater and boots.

Even though the SAGs are sort of like a scaled-down version of the Golden Globes, the red carpet at last night's awards show was nonetheless impressive. In fact, it was near impossible to find any WTF looks (a rarity when it comes to red carpet ensembles). So which stars sizzled? These are our picks...

MILA KUNIS: Black Swan's Mila Kunis looked sexy-cool with her beachy hair and belted orange-and-red Alexander McQueen dress.

JANUARY JONES: The constant fashionista, Mad Men star January Jones gave her gold lace Carolina Herrera gown some dramatic flair by sweeping her hair up into a super-smooth chignon.

HEATHER MORRIS: If it seems like Heather Morris is always on our best-dressed lists, it's probably because she is! For the SAGs, the Glee girl teamed a stunning Romona Keveza peach gown with sleek strands.

JULIA STILES: And you thought ombre was just for hair! Julia Stiles wore a navy-to-white strapless Monique Lhuillier gown with big, vintage-y earrings and perfectly wavy hair.

AMBER RILEY: Actress/singer Amber Riley of Glee looked AMAZING in a fitted black Anne Barge gown with a ruched bodice and mermaid skirt. We love the dress, but her pink pout is our fave!

Hollywood's leading ladies pulled out their hottest garments for the 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards show last night. While color (and lots of it!) was a common thread throughout the night, we also spotted stars working other fierce trends, including belted gowns, sexy slits, and smoky eyes.

BELTED BEAUTIES: Lea Michele got high marks in a low-cut silver sequined Oscar de La Renta dress, which she wore with with a skinny gold belt. Claire Danes wore a billowing floral strapless gown by Marc Jacobs. Meanwhile, Jennifer Lawrence looked pretty in pink thanks to her wrapped and belted Oscar De La Renta number.

THIGH-HIGH SLITS: For Sofia Vergara (in neon blue Roberto Cavalli), Rosario Dawson (in sherbert yellow J. Mendel), and Jayma Mays (in soft peach Jenny Packham), their sheaths were just as important as their shoes. Each of the celeb's dress featured a slit to THERE—all the better to show off their strappy peep toes with.

FIERY FROCKS: While the Golden Globes were awash in green (remember?), the SAGs were all about red and orange. Newcomer Hailee Steinfeld looked modern and chic in a striped Prada dress. Sarah Hyland rocked a blazing waist-knotted Max Mara dress. And Mila Kunis was also on trend in a flowy Alexander McQueen strapless number.

SMOLDERING EYES: Natalie Portman, Christina Hendricks and Dianna Agron all sported their own take on the smoky eye look. Natalie kept hers soft and subtle by using brown and taupe eye shadows; Christina used traditional shadow shades of silver, gray, and slate liner; and Dianna emphasized the line around her eyes to create a cat-eye effect.

Rachel McAdams at the 'Morning Glory' premiere in London on Jan. 11.
Photo: Getty Images

Rachel McAdams kicked off 2011 in a bold way by rocking bright yellow eyeliner (circa the Peter Som Spring/Summer 2011 runway show) to the London premiere of Morning Glory on Jan. 11. The unexpected color really made Rachel's hazel eyes POP. Meanwhile, her otherwise natural makeup kept the actress from looking too over-the-top. If you're dying to try this color trend, choose Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in El Dorado Gold ($17, urbandecay.com). It's got that same warm yellow tone as Rachel's liner, and the creamy formula is smudge-resistant and waterproof. For even more drama, opt for Sephora Waterproof Smoky Cream Liner in Rags to Riches ($10, sephora.com), a metallic yellow shade that will add instant glam to your makeup look. Just remember to take a cue from Rachel and keep the rest of your face super natural.

Taye Diggs at the 'ELLE' Women in Television event in West Hollywood on Jan. 27.
Photo: Getty Images

Private Practice hottie Taye Diggs ditched the usual black and white attire for a colorfully chic ensemble at the ELLE Women in Television event in West Hollywood last night. We love how he dared to mix a purple and white striped shirt with a rainbow checkered tie. Oh, and do you see how the actor paired a lighter gray suit jacket with darker slacks. Genius! To top it all off, Taye accessorized his look with shiny burgundy lace-up shoes, thick black frame glasses, and silver studs. We can't get enough of his I-do-what-I-want style (and his beaming smile!), but what do you think?

At an event called "A Night of Red Carpet Style," we expected to see some fashion hotness. Well, we weren't disappointed. The People StyleWatch-hosted fete held last night at Decades boutique in Los Angeles drew tons of celebs, including Whitney Port in a sequin-covered frock and Cassie Scerbo in a gilded print minidress. Here are all of our fave looks of the evening.

WHITNEY PORT: The subtle asymmetrical hem on Whitney Port's paillette-covered dress is what made it a standout.

Emma Roberts Jan. 24 and Jan. 23 at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.
Photo: Getty Images

Thanks to all of the well-dressed celebs attending the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, we are getting a crash course in dressing for cold weather (so as to not look like the Michelin Man)—an important lesson, indeed. Our latest finding? When in doubt, pack multiple jackets. Actress Emma Roberts proved this theory true by popping up all over Park City, Utah, wearing jackets of varying shapes and sizes—from a structured wool blazer and a fur-trimmed sporty puffer to a cozy wrap cardigan by McGinn—with jeans and boots. The simple switcheroo transformed the vibe of each look...and, more important, kept her toasty.

Elizabeth Olsen at the Sundance Film Festival on Jan. 22, 2011 and Jan. 21, 2011, at a screening of 'Mao's Last Dancer' on Aug. 16, 2010, and at the 'Impressionism' after party on Mar. 24, 2009.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's lil' sister Elizabeth was essentially an unknown until this past week in Park City, Utah at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival where she debuted two indies that she starred in—Silent House and Martha Marcy May Marlene. After screenings, the 21-year-old's acting chops were being applauded, even securing her a role in Rodrigo Cortes's upcoming thriller Red Lights, with Robert De Niro and Sigourney Weaver. Elizabeth's success is spilling over into her wardrobe choices, too. Check out the two-thumbs-up ensembles we found the baby Olsen sib stepping out in.

Winter Wonderland
Even in snow showers, Elizabeth looked fresh faced at the Sundance Film Festival on Jan. 22 in Park City, Utah. If she keeps it up (the acting and the flawless complexion), we see a beauty contract in this girl's future.

Chic On the Go
For the premiere of Martha Marcy May Marlene on Jan. 21, the up-and-comer smartly dressed up her basics with a leather orange bag and matching belt.

Short and Sweet
Looking a lot like her older sisters, Elizabeth rocked a retro mini V-neck dress with a brown belt and nude ankle strap shoes at a screening of Mao's Last Dancer in August.

Long Haul
Pre-haircut, Elizabeth emphasized her past-the-shoulders mane in a couture-y floor-skimming, oversize frock, which she wore to the Broadway opening night of Impressionism in 2009.

A handful of hot-dressed celebs, including Jessica Alba and Olivia Wilde, took a break from Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week last night to honor Gucci's Frida Giannini (she's the creative director of the company...aka the head honcho) at a dinner hosted by former 'Vogue Paris' editor in chief Carine Roitfeld. It was a fashion love fest for sure, and these were the looks we fell for...

JESSICA ALBA: Jessica stole the spotlight in a sparkly silver Gucci dress with draping over one shoulder, which she wore with blush-colored heels and a metallic Gucci clutch.

OLIVIA WILDE: The Tron: Legacy star worked a color-block jumpsuit from Gucci's Spring 2011 collection. Olivia teamed the sexy number with a chunky gold necklace, royal purple clutch and a fierce pair of black sandals.
