Kanye West on the front row of the Mark Fast Fall 2012 London Fashion Week show.

We haven't heard a peep out of Kanye West about the state of his foray into fashion following that epic Twitter rant back in early January, but we have heard that he plans to show again at Paris Fashion Week in the coming weeks. And though we haven't heard about the state of his signature KANYE WEST label, we do know that he seems to be as committed to fashion as ever as evidenced by his shirtless appearance in Vogue celebrating Givenchy Creative Director Riccardo Tisci, as well as his support for designer Mark Fast at London Fashion Week. But if there's any new news that trumpets Yeezy's commitment to the garment arts, it's the fact that he designed the shoes for up-and-coming Australian designer Dion Lee's debut show. Also? These shoes are RAD.

Keds for Madewell Spring 2012 Footwear.
Photo: Courtesy of Keds

It's no surprise that Keds are making a serious comeback. Proof: Alexis Krauss of the supercool Brooklyn duo Sleigh Bells religiously rocks Keds (um, have you seen their latest music video?) and the canvas tie-ups are even featured on the band's new album cover, Reign of Terror, which hits stores today. We're so excited to announce that Keds are teaming up with Madewell for a limited-edition sneaker collection, so Lex Krauss (as we affectionately call her) and every sneaker lover worldwide can rejoice at the endless possibilities these colorful kicks can bring to their ensembles.

Nicholas Kirkwood's spring collection at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City.
Photo: MTV Style

To say we're bananas about shoes is an understatement. Give us sky-high platforms, wooden clod-hoppers, sparkle oxfords, or neon yellow heel warriors and we're beaming with everlasting joy. Give us a pair designed by Nicholas Kirkwood, however, and we're gone. Finito. Passed out under the table. You guys, Nicholas Kirkwood's heels, nay works of art, are so bazonkers amazing, we need to break out the smelling salts when a new collection debuts. And once you see them in person and/or feel their gloriousness on your feet—like we did last night at Saks Fifth Avenue in Manhattan (*squee*)—their beauty becomes three-dimensional yet still totally unreal. Mr. Kirkwood himself was in attendance from his native Britain to debut the spring collection, and from the lines of well-heeled ladies waiting to get a moment of his time to the oohing and ahhhing over a pair of scribbled flower color block platforms, we knew we died and went to shoe heaven.

Beyoncé, Katy Perry, and Rooney Mara have great shoes.
Photo: Getty Images

Shoes, y'all. They cradle your feetsies. They keep you balanced. They're your pedestrian chariot to and from home/office/class/gym/every place. They do a lot of hard work. But they're not all function and brass tacks, nor should they be regarded as such, a refrain evidently held true by footwear fashionistas Beyoncé, Katy Perry, and Rooney Mara. Shoes are the one accessory you absolutely HAVE to wear each day, no excuses, and they quite literally finish off an outfit—the cherry on top to your ice cream sundae of an ensemble. Granted, sometimes circumstances call for more subdued/conservative fare, but when the situation allows for it, we're all about some peeper-popping footwear. That's why, each week, we gladly applaud the good work of the ladies who do it right (e.g., Miss Knowles, Perry, and Mara). LEGO!

Kristen Stewart's custom Vans.
Photo: Getty Images/Vans

What's there not to love about Vans slip-ons? They're easy to slide on like *cringe* flip-flops or Crocs but look a bajillion times better. Plus, they go with everything! Take Kristen Stewart, for example. She sported a Marios Schwab nude and black minidress with checkered Vans back in November (above) AND slipped on the sneaks during the 2011 Movie Awards, proving that these shoes can, in fact, be worn with anything. But that's just the beginning! Vans is bringing back its third annual Custom Culture art project, where high schools around the United States can show off their creativity on their own pair of kicks. Joining teens from coast to coast are celebs like Conan O'Brien, Lucy Hale, and (you guessed it!) K Stew to help raise money for educational art programs. But, um, can we get real for a second and look at Kristen's "designed" sneaks?

Chloë Moretz, Selena Gomez, and Katy Perry wear the week's most eye-catching shoes.
Photo: Getty Images

There are garments so fabulous you need simple footwear to balance them out, to complement but not compete with the rest of the ensemble. And then there are outfits that, while beautiful and could certainly stand alone, are kicked up that extra notch by the perfect jaw-dropping pair of shoes. Shoe Update veterans Chloë Moretz, Selena Gomez, and Katy Perry know a thing or two about show-stopping footwear, and their shoe game during this week's host of red carpet soirees was exceptional.

Kelly Osbourne, Elizabeth Banks, and Jessica Hart wear the week's best shoes.
Photo: Getty Images

Just because this week offered scant the awards show action of last week, doesn't mean fashionistas and their glitzy feetsies went on hiatus. This Shoe Update features Kelly Osbourne turning it out another week in a row alongside the exemplary heels of Elizabeth Banks and model Jessica Hart. Though nary an award was doled out this week (though, that will change come Sunday's Screen Actors' Guild Awards), we're serving up some style kudos to these ladies for keeping the bar high, even on a bye week.

Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket in "The Hunger Games."
Photo: Capitol Couture/Courtesy of Lionsgate

It's a big day for the citizens of Panem (and all of us people here in the real world). For those of us who rabidly follow anything and everything related to the book series turned film franchise, The Hunger Games, we have much to celebrate as the Capitol Couture fashion site is ZOMG FINALLY LIVE! This is mayjah news, and not just for fans of the book and the upcoming film, but for anyone interested in marketing. Turning the out-there, post-apocalyptic fashion that is so integral to the story of The Hunger Games into a real, living/breathing Tumblr street style site is a work of genius. With one click, you've entered the world of the film and are rewarded with a profile on "Capitol-born style icon" Effie Trinket, aka Elizabeth Banks in all her pink-pastel Chinoiserie gloriousness. And beyond that, we're treated to nail art tips, street style shots of shoes (including TO DIE gold "vintage" Alexander McQueen heeled booties), and some sort of contest involving District Stylists. Holy Mockingjay, people, we are SO INTO THIS.

Shailene Woodley, Solange Knowles, and Kelly Osbourne wear shocking shoes.
Photo: Getty Images

Shailene Woodley, Solange Knowles, and Kelly Osbourne all pulled out some eyebrow-raising footwear decisions this week, and we're using this week's Shoe Update to shed some light on them. We've definitely heard of people making fashion statements at red carpet events (*cough* meat dress *cough* egg arrival), but this is a breed of shock factor we're not as familiar with. We're talking about the style choices that aren't necessarily as outrageous as Lady Gaga's awards show theatrics but are shocking enough to drop a jaw or two. I'ts a mysterious purgatorial category, so let's dissect these three ladies and their shoes a little furthur.
