Sneaker Nail Art

Nails inspired by Air Jordan 1 Phat sneakers.

Last time we dove into the world of cray cray nail art, we got a tiny peek into the lives of lady sneakerheads who match their decked out nails to their even more amazing shoes. From the colors to the patterns to even the logo, these girls SERIOUSLY nailed it (and judging by the reaction over the new Air Jordans, sneakerheads don't mess around). But, hey, we're busybodies! We need to know MOAR. We had absolutely no problem searching the internetz for hours for our favorite sneaker-inspired designs, and our first find was some KILLER hot pink, black, and neon green Air Jordan 1 Phat sneakers. Whew, we need to get our hands on these! Eileen over at The Sneakerette used Essie Mod Squad, Wet n Wild French White Creme, China Glaze Electric Pineapple, and CM Nail Art in Black to create this neon French mani with a pebbled accent finger. We love how the white tips with the pink emulate the white sole paired with the shiny patent leather, and the accent from the inside of the shoe on her ring finger is just PERFECT. Jealz.

New Year, new SHOES! Alright, so maybe that's not really a widely recognized motto in any continent, state, or township, but it should be! Dragon Tattoo star Rooney Mara, music man, and ex-Hillsie Stephanie Pratt help us ring in the SHOE year (har har har *sarcastic knee slap*) with their exemplary footwear for this very special first 2012 installment of the Shoe Update.

Whitney Port, Misha B, and Chloe Sevigny wore our favorite shoes of the week.

Antsy for the holidays? Celebrations already in full swing (heyyyy Hanukkah!)? Yea. Us, too. And it looks like a few celebs can't hold it in any longer either. Whitney Port, X Factor UK's Misha B, and Chloe Sevigny were all spotted sporting festive kicks from glitter to bows to the bright holly red. So you may not have the no-ceiling budget of a celeb (let alone after the gift-giving season), but you can totally take these shoe trends and apply as they fit your wallet for all your merry-making needs.

chanel sneakers

Chanel high-tops.

Spring 2012 is shaping up to be the season of the sneaker. We noticed a distinct sneaker trend emerging from the runway collections, but more important, we've been noticing them out on the streets more. We're not talking regular ol' sneaks you toss on with your jeans, either. We've spied ladies in full-on ready-to-be-pap'd outfits tossing a fluoro trainer up in the mix in anticipation for what's sure to come in the warmer months. Just to solidify that this is most definitely a trend, Chanel debuted items from its spring collection in Madrid recently, and the folks at Neo2 magazine snapped a photo of what are, quite possibly, the most killer pair of designer high-top sneakers we could ever want but probably never afford. See those neon puppies up there? Yeah, they're GAHMAZING and all that, but what are these beauties going to do to the proverbial wallet? We shudder to think; in fact, this Chanel high-top conundrum got us thinking about all of the other insane designer sneaks we long for come spring—namely Isabel Marant wedge sneaks and Alexander Wang trainers.

Khloe Kardashian, Elle Fanning, and Gwen Stefani wear the week's best shoes.

Holiday gift-giving season is a whole different beast of anxiety-making for me. It's not that I leer at the thought of swiping my card for the sake of others. In fact, the exact opposite is true. And there's such heart-palpitating fulfillment that comes, for me, with finding the perfect gift for someone that I almost wish it came around more often. That is... Except for the bank account gobbling Pandora's box it opens as I up my visitation to brick and mortars and ecommerce sites, like, eleven-fold. You see, coupled with a job in which I stare and maaaarinate on clothes and jewelry and makeup all day, 'tis the season that I wake up in a cold sweat every night from my quaking bloodlust for so many OBJECTS. And nothing in this world can thwart my gifting focus quite like a truly incredible pair of shoes. This week, Khloe Kardashian, Elle Fanning, and Gwen Stefani stepped out in the most deliciously covetable footwear, and there may or may not have been a casualty on my holiday shopping list as a result (sorry, Mom).

Whitney Port, Willow Smith, and Jessica Alba wear the week's most dazzling shoes.

Forget trimming the tree. This week was all about decking out your FEET. With a mix of textures and heavy-handed doses of sparkle and shine, Whitney Port, Willow Smith, and Jessica Alba turned it out with some of the most dazzling displays of footwear of this past week. Due to the unseasonably warm weather we've been lucky enough to experience lately (haaayyy, bare-legged December!), these ladies' tootsies are clad in the gamut of shoe silhouettes from peep toes to combat boots but all unified in their unabashed ornamentation.

Anna dello Russo, Lady Gaga, and Susie Bubble wear the best shoes of the week.

Ahh, November. Hasn't it been great? Almost too great.... Honestly, y'all, it's been unseasonably warm, and I'm just the teensiest bit afraid it's lulling us into a false sense of security (as far as foot and ankle safety is concerned, anyhow). In this week of what has primarily been leisure time, accompanied by breezy cool temps and little to no precipitation, the past few days have been a kind of perfect storm for outrageous footwear, chief among them being this week's selects of the following consistently well-heeled boundary pushers: Anna dello Russo, Lady Gaga, and Susie Bubble.

Nicki Minaj, Amy Heidemann, and Audrina Patridge wear the best shoes of the week.
Photo: Getty Images

Okay, we're still nursing our 2011 American Music Awards hangover, still going over the pics, reliving the mems (that's short for "memories"), rehashing our fave momes. Tuesday rolls around and it's time to recap the best shoes of the week. Well, two and two makes four, and all of the above amounts to an AMA-themed Shoe Update brought to you by performer and winner Nicki Minaj, newcomer (and also winner!) Amy Heidemann of Karmin, and red carpet host Audrina Patridge. Real talk, though. We should make it perfectly clear that even though these well-heeled ladies and their respective footwear and all having stepped out in their finest to the same event do wrap things up oh so tidily, make no mistake that we did, in fact, scour through the entire week's shoes, Tuesday to Tuesday, and these three were head and shoulders (or shall we say heels and ankles?) above the rest.

Theophilus London

Theophilus London attends the 2011 Wired Store opening night party on Nov. 17, 2011, in New York City.

Great Scott! A more and more common fixture at the most esteemed fashion events of late, we already know that Theophilus London is way ahead of the curve when it comes to style, so it's not surprising that he'd want to slip on the most futuristic pair of sneaks he had available to wear as a geek cred badge of honor at technology and lifestyle magazine Wired's pop-up shop opening last night. It seems Theo was able to snag a pair of the ULTRA-limited edition Nike MAG shoes—yep, the high-tops modeled off the self-lacing Back To The Future II sneakers—which were auctioned off to benefit The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research earlier this year.

Lady Gaga, Snooki, and Nicki Minaj.

Fall is in FULL SWING, ladies and gents. With the temperate air, sparse precipitation, and all around amiableness of the outside world, it's time for (in my humble opinion) the BEST season for clothes. The layering possibilities are endless—tights and shorts, pants and gauzy tops, dresses and tall boots with socks that peek over—and your footwear options DOUBLE, running the gamut from sandals to over-the-knee boots depending on which way the mercury sways. The variety is such a welcome ocular treat, and it's clear at least a few people are taking advantage of it, namely Lady Gaga, Snooki, and Nicki Minaj.

Mother Monster has been having something of a ladylike moment lately, stepping out in this ladies who lunch ensemble by Aquilano.Rimondi dripping with pearls and topped off with white gloves, a poppy brooch, and a china teacup to boot. Her heels, also by Aquilando.Rimondi, are strappy, with five skinny buckles past her ankles, but the soft pastel hue and satin sheen to the closed-toes make the shoe demure. Taking quite the opposite approach, Jersey Shore's Snooki was spotted this week in this vibrant pair of seriously NEON lace-up wedge booties by ModCloth. The kicks are bold, but really not as picky as you'd think—neon goes with just about everything. One of the great things about Snooki is she rarely strays hard from real attainable fashions, and ModCloth's "The Highlight of my Life" wedges are totally copable at a cool 120 bones! Nicki Minaj attended and performed for the Versace for H&M launch party this week looking cray-mazing as expected, and for her red carpet entrance, she wore a full Versace for H&M outfit with high heeled colorblock Versace sandals. WANTWANTWANTWANT.

I love these two as a couple. What a festive way to celebrate two important events in their life. Mariah looks like a dream.
