Rita Ora

WELL WELL WELL. We've been speculating for MONTHS that Rita Ora might be working with Adidas on a collaboration for the brand's Originals vertical. In recent weeks, she's stayed quiet on the three-stripes front, devoting more face time to her other fashion ventures—DKNY and Material Girl—but thanks to a few Instagram snaps she posted yesterday, we're setting the rumor mill churning again.

Yes, folks. Your eyes do not deceive you. Those are throwback Adidas shell toes updated for 2014 with a metal cap. Rita shared the photo with the caption, "#LA #Studio X @adidasoriginals #ritabotsuniform." Sure, that could mean that she's just cosigning the look and that her Ritabots should follow suit, but that's a tall order for any celeb to pin on her fans. UNLESS she was the mastermind behind the design...

Jordan x ovo

Last night in the motherland of Nike, otherwise known as Portland, Oregon, Drake took a concert breather to let the crowd know he drove 28 hours through a snowstorm to stand there before them. He praised the city's roaring populace of bicyclists and single women. And then he announced his induction into the Team Jordan family, claiming it was the best day of his life. Not long after, he posted some teaser pics to his Instagram account.

Last week, Kanye West said "OK BAHYE" to Nike after a five-year partnership and signed a reported $10 million deal with Adidas. Three Stripes publicly confirmed their alliance yesterday.

COINCIDENCE? Prooooooooobably not.

Kanye West

Forget the Kanye West shoe collaboration you knew/loved/couldn't afford: Ye is leaving Nike for adidas. (How much are the existing Air Yeezys gonna go for now? Like, 10 billion dollars?) Kanye nonchalantly announced his new partnership during an interview with Hot 97 yesterday and while royalties seem to be the driving force behind the swap, adidas also offers more (dare we say it?) clothing design opportunities for Ye.

The Nike x Kanye partnership made total sense: Kanye loves Nikes and, as he mentioned in the Hot 97 interview, Yeezys made people excited for shoes in a way they hadn't been since the first release of Air Jordans. Kanye was the first and at the time for first inking the deal, only non-athlete working with Nike, which made him special, which, as we all know, is Kanye West's #1 fave thing. However, when Nike teamed up with Eminiem, the company was suddenly "not doing [him] any favors." And so, it seems if Kanye isn't going to be special anymore, he'd rather get royalties, which Nike wasn't offering to him.

Solange celebrates the release of 'Saint Heron' wearing teal Pumas.
Photo: Getty Images

Today in “duh” news, Puma rolled out a new ad campaign featuring four budding “It” girls who were all hand-picked and art directed by singer/eBay curator/Queen of Mixed Prints, Solange Knowles. OK, so her role in the campaign isn’t ~exactly~ what we imagined, but we’ve had a sinking suspicion for a while now that Solange proooobably had something in the works with the increasingly stylish shoe brand. (We just thought it’d be more along the lines of, like, being the face, err, foot of the ad, or perhaps designing some special edition print-heavy kicks.)

SneakerBoots Keep Your Feet Cozy

Nike's 2013 SneakerBoot Collection

Winter's coming! Hide your kids (sneakers), hide your wives (other sneakers). Shackle the shutters, gather your loved ones and light a fire! (Not with sneakers. #RIPLeftEye)

All right, calm down. Just because snow will soon dust the ground doesn't mean that you absolutely must say good-bye to sneaks for several gloomy months. In fact, there's hope for us all, sneaker lovers. We have options. Good ones! So take a deep breath, find acceptance in your mind grapes for the upcoming season, and let's discuss ways to keep sneakers in regular winter rotation without sacrificing them to slush, salt, snow and doom. No shade to boots, though. Boots are great. We love boots. All hail boots! But back to sneakers.

Lady Gaga arrives at 'The Graham Norton Show.'
Photo: Splash News

*GASP!* It's true, Little Monsters. Lady Gaga recycles outfits from her wardrobe, too! OK, maybe not the muppet moo moos or the toliet paper gowns or the tulle see-through fairy dresses of her wardrobe (not yet, at least—because TBH, they just wouldn't be quite as mind-blowing the second time around), but a hat and some shoes here and there? It's actually pretty refreshing, IMHO.

Yesterday, Gagaloo was snapped in London on her way into The Graham Norton Show, and we were like, WHOA! Gaga looks ... NORMAL! (By Gaga standards, anyway.) Mother Monster went pantless in a weather-appropriate flannel shirt, tucked her dark, OMG ~natural~ strands up into a hat and wore (duh) ginormous platformed, patent leather, lace-up, stiletto boots. (Like we said, this is "normal" by Gaga standards.) Now, where did we last see this look again?

Rita Ora

Photo: @ritaora Instagram

Rumor has it on the ol' interwebz that our girl Rita Ora is designing a line for Adidas. Though the news hasn't been confirmed by adidas or Rita, it makes total sense. First of all, Rita is the face of DKNY and Material Girl: she has experience promoting products, now she wants to create them herself. Second, she just released a lipstick and nail polish line with Rimmel, so she obviously knows how to turn what she wears into something that others will want to wear. And, third, SHE WEARS A LOT OF ADIDAS. It seems likely her closet is an Adidas store, IDK.

We had always chalked up her adidas adoration to her friendship with newly announced Moschino Creative Director Jeremy Scott (he makes many an appearance on her Instagram), but a quick look through her Instagram reveals that Rita wears lines from other adidas designers, including Stella McCartney and Opening Ceremony. Let's take a closer look at the ample evidence, shall we?

Lady Gaga in Berlin.
Photo: Getty Images

NOPE. That is not, in fact, a whimsical wood nymph extra from a German production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Nor is it a newly escaped patient from a nearby psych ward. That wide-eyed, big-haired, barefoot woman is, of course, Lady Gaga, making another dramatic exit from her hotel in Berlin. Of course. Yesterday, Gaga left the Ritz wearing this confusing attachment, and today, she goes sans shoes. We understand the want to wiggle your toes freely, especially when they're constantly being stuffed into 12-inch platform stilettos, but isn't that a little unsanitary? Just sayin'. Also, is that chalk on your legs? Did you take a tumble during a game of hopscotch? So many questions.

Justin Bieber on set for his Adidas NEO photoshoot.
Photos: Adidasneolabel's YouTube Page

We've already seen the images for Justin Bieber's most recent Adidas NEO campaign, but now, thankfully, there's a behind-the-scenes video from the shoot, so we can peep moving JB in all his dancing/drumming/pose-striking glory. There's also a lot of reclining, like in his fall campaign, because dancing using only your shoulders is tiring.

Air Jordan Doodles

Am I the only one who feels compelled to eat these?
Photo: MTV Style

God’s greatest gift to man is the Air Jordan sneaker. In this particular case, God being the God of Basketball himself, Michael Jordan. His second greatest gift is a tie: either his 1988 Slam Dunk competition-winning-jam-from-the-foul-line OR his game six winning shot against the Jazz in ‘98. [Ed Note: If you were looking for Space Jam here, EXHALE. We haven't forgotten it. No study of Jordan is complete without it.] But that’s not what this article is about. This article is about Js.

Earlier this week, Mike WiLL Made It dropped a video for the track “23”, which features Miley Cyrus, Wiz Khalifa and Juicy J paying homage to what may be the most beloved, revered and collected sneaker in all the land. For the uninitiated who may be thinking, "Well dang, where have these been all my life?" (everywhere, TBH) or, "I wish I could wear Jordans but don't think I can pull 'em off!" (you can) or, "Does this mean I have to play sports now?" (no)—we are here to act as a gentle guide. Let us introduce you to the majestic and enchanting world of Air Jordans. (Fair ladies/gents of #TeamJordan #Been#Trill#, you may not need this guide, but stick around for fun. Have a snack. Chime in, if you will.)
