Alicia Keys for Reebok.

We already know what you're thinking: Daaaang, Alicia Keys looks good. I mean, sure, we're used to seeing our girl sporting her Reebok Classics collection in public (it's been almost a year since she launched her debut shoes!), but there's something about her dark and sultry fall 2013 sneaks that really get us going. In the spring, she introduced some seriously colorful sneaker wedges, and this time she's bringing them back with a more winter-ready aesthetic. Think: navy blue, black, and red colorways with suede and reptile emboss detailing. Mama like!
Some things in life are just meant to be, and a Jeremy Scott x A$AP Rocky fashion collab is definitely one of those inevitable things. (Though, for the record, Jeremy's said he's open to a rap collab, as well.) The bold runway designer and Harlem-born MC recently announced that they've teamed up on a special edition pair of adidas Originals sneakers, and ever since that news broke, we've been dying to pick their brains about the project. Lucky for us, we had just that opportunity this past weekend at the adidas Originals store on New York City's Wooster street just before a meet-and-greet attracting a crowd of 300 some-odd fans for autographs and pictures with the JS Wings 2.0 Black Flag creators.
Jeremy Scott and A$AP Rocky for "Complex" Magazine.
Welp. Anyone remotely familiar with the music and style sensibilities of A$AP Rocky and Jeremy Scott had to know this was coming, right? By "this," I'm, of course, referring to the just-released news that this duo has teamed up with adidas Originals for a pair of limited edition collaboration sneakers. The "Fashion Killa" MC and the runway-ready streetwear (or is it street-ready runway?) designer started off as long-time admirers of each others' work and quickly spun that mutual respect into an actual friendship—supporting each other and even covering magazines together. On top of that, they each have their own separate relationships with adidas: Jeremy having contributed collections upon collections upon collections for the brand, and Rocky having lent his voice and pretty mug to a commercial earlier this year. The triple-headed collab was inevitable.
Mariah Carey kickin' back.

We are so sad to report that our resident diva, Mariah Carey, will be temporarily stepping down (heh) from her fashion throne by giving up her heels for an undisclosed amount of time. You might have been tipped off to Mariah's dislocated shoulder from all those insanely awesome sequin-covered slings she's been sporting as of late, but did you know she ALSO cracked rib and chipped her shoulder bone when she fell during her Beautiful video shoot? Yowza. Hubby Nick Cannon told E!, "She's feeling a lot better and taking it one day at a time." And that means staying out of her killer platforms. Nick said, "She's only in them when she needs to be in them, like when she had her [Hurricane Sandy relief benefit] concert in Central Park. She's just being very careful."
Here’s something that’s the best: you cop a new pair of shoes. You put them on. You stare at them on your own feet in admiration. Look at those spiffsters! Fresh as hell! And since you found them at a little off-the-track sneaker store while on vacation, ain’t nobody in YOUR town gonna have those. That’s right. As far as you’re concerned, they’re one of a kind. THAT is the BEST.
However, little sunshine buckets, there’s one more thing that’s even better: having a pair of sneakers that are actually one of a kind. This is the part where we introduce you to Jill Forie, the creator of Sink Or Swim Custom Kicks.
On a scale of one to “how she do dat?”, Jill’s art skills are insane. See those shoes up there? She hand painted them. And each pair—all 450 she’s created over time—is completely unique. Jill works closely with each customer to create a design that’s completely tailor-made. Once she even made a pair for Hayley Williams, who wore the crap out of them.
Jill’s currently working on her Masters in Berlin, but she took some time to answer a few questions for us. Ausgezeichnet!
Since she first burst on the scene, Rita Ora's love of sneakers has been an integral part of her personal steez. Her love's a pretty unconditional one, wearing them with literally everything and not discriminating between classics and platforms. Jordans, however, are her absolute fave. Still in the Nike fam, Rita posted a super cute picture of herself to Instagram repping a pair of crisp white Air Force 1s with a matching all-white outfit and referencing lyrics from British rapper Dizzee Rascal.
Taylor Swift and her fall Keds collection.

It feels like just yesterday we were drooling over Taylor Swift's super adorbs summer Keds sneaker collection, but this week she released her fall-ready line, and suddenly we're really excited for the colder days ahead. She brought back some of the same polka dot and floral motifs from before, but added an extra fresh spin on each shoe design. First up, T Swift added a layer of vintage white lace to her signature red sneaks for a girly spin on the classic show. Word on the street (OK, fine, product description) is that the Champion Vintage Lace sneaker ($50) was modeled after one of her favorite frocks. Even cooler--these shoes also come in a black on black version.
The Adidas Archive transports you to a world of legend and wonder.

You know those times when you’re cleaning out your s***, and a boost of determination miraculously overwhelms you? Suddenly, you’re deep-diving to the trenches of your closet, re-discovering that shirt you only wore one time and solving the mystery of your missing shoe. And there’s the hoodie from 5 summers ago that you can’t part with, so you put it on and find $5 in the pocket. But, lo! A box! Let’s go through the box. Two hours later, you’re drowning in nostalgia, but your closet isn’t any cleaner.
The digital Adidas Archive is a lot like that. First of all, just like cleaning out our closet, it took us forever to discover (the Archive launched in February). But whatever, because this jam is the coolest, and it deserves to be shared.

Kristin Cavallari and the wedding shoes she designed for Chinese Laundry.

We don't know about you guys, but we're still basking in the oh-so-beautiful glory that was Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler's wedding. In case you missed it, the ex-Hillsie tied the knot in a GORGE strapless Monique Lhuillier gown complete with beachy waves and a barely-there makeup look. Since her floor-sweeping dress covered her feet, we weren't able to peep her wedding shoe game at the time, but as it turns out, K Cav actually designed her own shoes for the big day, and—even better—us mere mortals can purchase them too! *high fives entire world* Kristin added these shoes to her ever-growing Chinese Laundry shoe collection, and they seem to fit her simply-chic style aesthetic perfectly.
It's not called Tebowing, it's called Travi$ Scott-ing.
For 30 years, the Reebok Classic Leather has been a trusty pal you can depend on; a beacon of strength, the default designated driver, the friend who gives you gives you sound relationship advice that you never listen to but know is totally on point. This is the kind of chum that when the time comes to celebrate a milestone, you drop everything to show up and rage. So when Reebok threw a party to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Classic Leather silhouette, you bet we were there.
The guest list was pretty rowdy—Ace Hood was there to perform, setting the place ablaze with the highlight “Bugatti” (which, if you stick your head outside at this moment, you’ll probably hear playing from a car window). One of Yeezus’ recent collaborators Travi$ Scott was in the building to perform too, as well as Kirko Bangz and Doug E. Fresh.
