Travi$ Scott

It's not called Tebowing, it's called Travi$ Scott-ing.

For 30 years, the Reebok Classic Leather has been a trusty pal you can depend on; a beacon of strength, the default designated driver, the friend who gives you gives you sound relationship advice that you never listen to but know is totally on point. This is the kind of chum that when the time comes to celebrate a milestone, you drop everything to show up and rage. So when Reebok threw a party to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Classic Leather silhouette, you bet we were there.

The guest list was pretty rowdy—Ace Hood was there to perform, setting the place ablaze with the highlight “Bugatti” (which, if you stick your head outside at this moment, you’ll probably hear playing from a car window). One of Yeezus’ recent collaborators Travi$ Scott was in the building to perform too, as well as Kirko Bangz and Doug E. Fresh.

Adidas Hidden Heel

New! Adidas Amber Light Up Hidden Heel
Photo: Adidas

Numerous wedge sneakers line the shelves, looking nice, looking fresh. Nike’s there. Reebok is too. Vans. Even Puma! Higher-end brands congregate in a separate display area, eating foie gras. But in this United Nations of sneakers, something’s missing. The lack of one nation does not go unrecognized—but today, things are about to change.

CUSTOMER: Yeah, hi. Do you have the new Adidas wedge sneaker?

REEBOK WEDGE (to other sneakers): Shh. Listen. Did you hear that?

VANS WEDGE: Nah, bro. What’d she say?

REEBOK WEDGE: She asked for an Adidas wedge.

hannah simone modern vice

Modern Vice co-founder Jordan Adoni and Hannah Simone.

Hannah Simone likes shoes. Who doesn’t, right? But work with us, here. So as we were saying, Hannah Simone likes shoes. Flat shoes, spiky shoes, flippy floppy shoes and running shoes. Since she plays a model on New Girl, she gets to wear all kinds of different shoes. One day, she stumbled into a pair of black wedge sneakers that quickly became part of her regular rotation. They were comfy as hell, versatile as heck and looked awesome as f*ck. Hannah Simone danced in them, strutted in them and maybe even rescued a family of baby ducks in them once. (Not confirmed.) They were made by a company called Modern Vice.

Brothers Jordan and Jensen Adoni had a dream to follow in their father’s footsteps and start a shoe business - but not some hackneyed shoe business. They wanted to establish a factory in New York City and craft wares with their bare hands, like men. Only a couple years later, their company Modern Vice holds fort in a 7,000 square foot midtown factory, and they're one of few manufacturers making shoes in New York.

When Hannah heard their story, she wanted to see what happens behind the scenes at Modern Vice. How did her new favorite pair of sneakers come to life? She found the company’s traditional values and ambitious nature inspiring, and the idea of bringing manufacturing back to America resonated with her. But also, how many times have you seen a shoe being lovingly forged by expert craftsmen? Exactly. Never times. Simone had to see it. Lucky for us, she invited us along for the field trip.

Styles from Vans Fall 2013 collection.
Photo: Courtesy of Vans

Vans is no stranger to rad collaborations, adorable lookbooks, and even some pretty awesome DIY action (hi, Macklemore!). However, despite debuting platform skate sneakers last season and having its toes consistently dipped into the fashion world, there's ONE trend the brand has held out on...until now, that is. Behold, the Vans sneaker wedge! Proving that the hidden heel really IS the trend that just might go on forever, the athletic giant is rolling out two new styles for Fall 2013. So whether or not you're a fan of the hidden heel yourself, there's no denying the staying power of the wedge sneaker. After all, they're comfy, they're versatile, and, in the case of the solid color Vans Sk8-Hi Wedge and the Leopard Print Sk8-Hi Wedge, they're still injected with that signature Vans sporty swagger.

Rick Owens: he's the mastermind behind hauntingly beautiful runway collections, has made cameos in more hip-hop lyrics than we can possibly keep track of, and even supports rising music talents like Zebra Katz. Yep, we're talking about a true Renaissance man here, y'all. But while we're used to seeing the designer (who's known for his distressed leather, his drapey cuts, and his mostly-black color palette) exploring his style game OFF the catwalk, now he's stepping out of these glamorous shadows and into the...gym? Yesterday WWD reported that Owens is joining forces with Adidas on sneaker collections for both men and women, giving the athletic brand's shoes an unexpected dose of gothy edge.

Golf Wang Vans

The Golf Wang x Vans sneaker collaboration.

The Odd Future merchandising endeavor has snowballed colossally over the past few years. What started as a month-long pop-up shop peddling tees and tanks quickly evolved into a traveling shop with an expanded stock of hoodies, button-downs, hats, and jeans. Now, the hip hop collective has staked out a permanent brick-and-mortar store on L.A.'s Fairfax Avenue, AND *drumrolllll* this past weekend marked the official launch of the collaborative Golf Wang x Vans sneaker collection!

Kanye West Yeezy 2

Could these sneakers be yours someday?
Photo: Getty/@Jsusneaks Instagram

Remember how we mentioned that Kanye West's electrifying performance on Saturday Night Live might also be a subtle debut for a new colorway of his Nike Air Yeezy 2 sneaker? Just in case you were too distracted by the incredible performances, let us refresh your memory: after his debut of "New Slaves" and "Black Skinhead" on the famous late night show, Kanye enthusiasts began to, as we do, unpack his performance look. All-black everything gave way to a pair of bright red kicks that... wait a second, those are Yeezy 2s! But we've never seen the all-red colorway before! And thus, yet another Yeezus-related mystery was born. Today, sneaker heads around the world are abuzz with speculation that the great and powerful Ye may be planning to play rap game Willy Wonka in 1000 copies of his new album, Yeezus, by giving those lucky fans a chance to purchase the shoes. Intrepid British sneaker collector/blogger Jsus Sneaks got his hands on a pair of the all-red kicks, which are pictured complete with the signature Yeezy falcon head and an embossed box (we think), stamped with "June 18, 2013" and an individual number. We think we see where this is going.

Taylor Swift Keds

Taylor Swift talks all-things fashion.
Photo: Via Keds' YouTube

When we first heard the news about Taylor Swift collaborating with Keds back in October, we pretty much flipped out. I mean, Taylor designing her own line of shoes for the classic sneaker brand?! Yassss. Today, her full collection is already available for purchase online, and to celebrate this joyous occasion, Keds launched a multi-part video series in which fashion editor Zanna Roberts Rassi asks T. Swift all our BURNING fashion questions. To put it lightly, we're stoked. Tay dished on the evolution of her personal "style epiphanies," and said, "When I was 15, I realized that I loved the idea of a sundress and cowboy boots, and that's all I wore for two years. And then, I started loving the bohemian, fairy-type looks—like a flowery headband—so I dressed like a fairy would dress for two years. Now, I see pictures from the '50s and '60s where women have red lips and a pearl earring—those very classic looks. I kind of dress a little more vintage-y, so it's always got a direction to it."

Ah, the old cap and gown. If you're anything like we were back in those days, you spent all of high school, and who are we kidding, all of college too, counting down the days until you could put on that polyester robe and goofy mortarboard and strut your stuff straight to a diploma (and with it, freedom). Graduation is a huge deal, one of the most important things you'll ever achieve, and as such, it's an occasion that warrants a fly outfit. There are also SO. MANY. PHOTOS. taken on graduation day, that you want to make sure you won't have to hide your head in shame over something you wore. Here's the thing, though: you can't really see much underneath your gown, so aside from the lunch or dinner you have with your parents after it's all over, your dress doesn't actually make much of an impact. Your shoes, on the other hand, are everything. Whether you're into sneakers, heels, or flats, we found 15 pairs of kicks that will add just the right amount of pop to that gown.

Who doesn't love a classic wedge for a classic day.
Photo: Madewell/Marais USA/Dolce Vita/J. Crew/Urban Outfitters

There's a solid chance that your graduation, or at least some part of it, is taking place outside. The last thing you want are your shoes making you anxious by sinking into the grass on the football field, or, oof, tripping you up on your way to your diploma. Wedges are a solid, safe bet if a classic look and some height is what you're after. If you just want a tiny little boost, the ankle strap mini wedge from Madewell ($94.50) comes in a grip of super springy colors. If more height is what you're after, Marais USA's Firefly Wedge in Clambake ($160.00) is a super summery answer (that will perfectly match the classic Essie color of the same name). If you want something a little tougher, Dolce Vita's Mosey Platform Booties ($179.00) still give you the height, but add a little edge. If classic summer is more your look, J.Crew's Sardinia wedge espadrilles ($118.00) have that french seaside je ne sais quoi written all over them. Finally, if simple and bright is exactly what the doctor ordered, look no further than Seychelles Thyme Wedge Sandal ($95.00).

NikeiD's Customizable Liberty shoes.
Photo: Courtesy of Nike

Shhh, you hear that? It's your shoe closet BEGGING you to add more printed sneaks to your collection. OK, maybe that's not what's really happening here, but you don't need to tell anyone that! Consider it all the excuse neccessary to join us in obsesssing over NIKEiD's new Liberty London goods. The sneaker giant has teamed up with the U.K. heritage label yet again on a line of flower power shoes—and while we've already called them out for kicking it up (heh) on the technology front with their sneaker wedges, this collab marks a very personal twist. NIKEiD, the special section of the brand that allows you to customize the shoes, has added Liberty's pretty florals to its arsenal of patterns and colors.
