Jason Wu

We're still reeling a little bit from the OTT adorableness that was Jason Wu for Target, but good news: you can never have too much Wu in your life (or your closet). We recently reported that the Taiwanese designer will be joining fellow CFDA members in a new holiday collaboration with Neiman Marcus, but that's only the tip of his creative iceberg. This morning WWD confirmed rumors of "Miss Wu," a new range aimed toward a younger audience. According to the designer, “I always see Jason Wu [the collection] as my aesthetic, my design sensibility. Miss Wu is my personality. It was really fun to explore that facet of who I am — slightly more downtown, and with a more relaxed attitude.” This chill, accessible vibe also extends to the retail plan, since you don't have to scour high fashion boutiques or major department stores in order to buy the clothes. Instead, just head to your local Nordstrom.

American Apparel says they could manufacture the US Olympic uniforms in as few as seven days.
Photo: American Apparel

Who knew Olympic uniforms could spark such controversy?! Every since the first images of Ralph Lauren's United States Team uniforms for the 2012 London Olympics were revealed, people all over the Internet have been griping about something or another. Whether it be the beret or the fact that the uniforms were being manufactured in China, this has not been a good few weeks for the sporty red white and blue looks, which we actually think are pretty cute, in a yachting in the Hamptons kind of way. In an interview with The New York Post, American Apparel head honcho Dov Charney jumped into the mix, saying, through a rep, that AA would be happy to turn around American-made uniforms using Ralph Lauren's design in as few as seven days if the designer wanted.

Frank Ocean, Orange

Frank Ocean's new album "Channel Orange" reminds us that orange is BIG for fall.

Okay, so this probably isn't exactly what Frank Ocean was going for when he titled his premier full-length album Channel Orange. In fact, we know it isn't since Ocean told KCRW’s Chris Douridas after the Orange listening party that the title referred to a neurological condition called "synesthesia" wherein the afflicted associates colors with letters and numbers. It's a reference to the color he saw the summer he first fell in love. And knowing Ocean's penchant for the poetic and his storied affinity for all things zen, we think there might also be a (perhaps subconscious) throw there to Buddhist monks' traditional orange robes and the religion's use of the color as a symbol of wisdom, strength and dignity. On the FASHION side of things, we can't help but twiddle our fingers with glee at how nicely this coincides with 2012's Pantone Color of the Year: Tangerine Tango. The citrus hue was EVERYWHERE on the Fall/Winter 2012 New York Fashion Week runways this past February, and Frank's prodigious debut album (along with being RIDICULOUSLY honest and hypnotic) reminds us of the color trend that will help carry over a little needed summertime into the colder months.

DJ Tiësto.

It's official: EDM is EVERYWHERE...including the fashion industry. Yep, we may associate the thumping, high-flying Electric Dance Music with sweaty dance floors and late nights, but now the talents behind the genre are gaining serious style cred as well. First Swedish wunderkind Avicii (real name: Tim Berg) scores his very first modeling campaign with Denim & Supply Ralph Lauren. Now DJ Tiësto- arguably one of the original forerunners of the EDM trend- is taking it one step further by designing a capsule collection for GUESS.

Newsflash: this is Jeremy Scott's candy-colored world, and we're allllll just living in it. The guy behind Nicki Minaj's "Pink Friday" tour outfits, Rihanna's Cleopatra costume, and Blue Ivy's baby wing sneakers (awww!) has just released the lookbook for his Fall 2012 Jeremy Scott for Adidas collection. And yes, it's every bit as crazy, cool, and colorful as we've come to expect from the outrageously awesome designer. After all, there aren't many guys out there who can turn plush teddy bear hoodies into a fashion statement, but guess what- HE JUST DID.

We're 100% in the mouth of the Comic-Con 2012 monster right now (which, in case you were wondering, is equal parts awesomely terrifying and cuddly, glittery anime eyes the size of our fists). We're nose hairs-deep in all things illustrated and fantastic and (chiefly) the resurgence of so many superheros from our childhood! From Nickelodeon's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series to the Power Rangers' 20th birthday right down to Voltron's triumphant return to Comic-Con - it's all VERY exciting. In honor of all our animated nostalgia (and because, guys, retro graphics are reeeeeeally big right now), we're serving up some sweet inspired swag so that you, too, can wear your love for Comic-Con on your sleeve (or snapback). Enjoy!

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES

Wear your love for TMNT.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was a total childhood staple for any '90s kid. From the animated TV series to the live action movie, Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo were the leading men turtles of our staff's lives for more than a few years. Thus, we FUH-LIPPED at first sight of this TMNT crewneck sweater ($39.99). Looking to keep things a bit more subtle? Opt for this Splinter t-shirt ($19.99) which pays homage to the sensei/adoptive father without outright screaming, "COWABUNGA, DUDES! Want some pizza??!" Looking for a Turtle staple that won't yield dirty looks if you wear it every day? Then, this turtle-green snapback ($14.99) is probably up your alley.

Emma Roberts

Here's the thing about band tees: it's impossible to have too many of them, AND they never go out of style. Okay, so maybe these are just our excuses for constantly adding music t-shirts (both vintage and new) to our overflowing stockpile, but hey- we're obviously not the only ones. Rihanna, Willow Smith,Taylor Momsen, and about a zillion other cool kids have been running around in the basics for a while now, and Emma Roberts is the latest celeb to hop on board. We spotted the actress wearing a Velvet Underground t-shirt while filming her new movie Empire State in- where else?- New York.

Cher Horowitz is one girl whose closet we would LOVE to raid.
Photo: Movieweb

Picture yourself on a Saturday night. You're in your bedroom, hair freshly washed, bathrobe on, staring into the dark, dark abyss that is your closet. You start to slowly go through the items and all of a sudden you're sucked straight into a vortex! You come to moments later and your hair is a mess, your towel is askew and your bedroom is COVERED in every item of clothing you've ever so much as looked at. What would save me from this mess, you wonder, and then you remember that scene in Clueless when Cher is trying to get dressed in the morning and she uses a "Dress Me" program to pick out her outfit for her. It could be so easy! The wonderful professional closet-snoopers at The Coveteur feel our pain, and although they don't have a "Dress Me" program for us, they DO have about a zillion way to get some of Cher's most memorable looks.

Supra Women's Skytop

Supra releases new women's collection with Bieber-esque Skytop designs.
Photo: Courtesy of Supra Footwear

We're not saying that Justin Bieber invented the Supra Skytop. Nor are we saying that A-Morir designer Kerin Rose had any baby-faced pop superstars in mind when concocting these sparkly collaboration kicks. We’re merely postulating - nay, hypothesizing - about whether Bieber’s newest album and well-documented love of the Skytop had anything to do with the timing and/or the color scheme of certain styles.

Christmas in July? It's actually happening, at least for Target and Neiman Marcus, who announced this morning that they're teaming up on...drumroll, please- a holiday gift collaboration! (Pause for excited screams). The two giant, albeit very different, retailers have joined forces to produce a collection of 50 various products designed by 24 CFDA designers. This means high fashion heavyweights like Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler, Rodarte, Rag & Bone, and Jason Wu will lend their stylish genius to everything from clothing to pet gear to home decor, all available to buy in stores and online starting December 1st.
