Well, there's no denying it. Overalls are BACK! And these denim dungarees haven't only returned in full force, they've become a major fashion trend, popping up on the runways at 3.1 Phillip Lim, Agnes B, and Jason Wu, as well as on celebs like the current overall MVP, Alexa Chung. Before you roll your eyes at us, like, "Duh, Alexa Chung can wear ANYTHING and look good," hold up— we were skeptical at first, too. But after doing some seriously in-depth research (otherwise known as cruising our favorite online stores and stalking their selection), we've realized that overalls are actually way easier to pull off than they appear. You don't necessarily HAVE to go full-on farmer status, channel *NSync, or even rock flashy leather to get in on the look...there are tons of ways to reach a happy medium with style secrets like classic black, '70s silhouettes, or even prints. See the long and short of it here!

GO LONG

Denim dungarees get a cool new update.

Overalls were originally designed for blue collar workers way back in 19th century, thanks to their durable fabric and functional cut. Needless to say, these onesies have come a long, long way since their humble beginnings on the farms and in factories. This gorgeous image of Kate Moss sporting hers should be reason enough to give this trend a spin; but if that's not enough to convince you of their long-staying '90s popularity, these basic blues also made pit stops throughout the decade on stars like TLC, Destiny's Child, and even the Olsens. Despite the fact that Man Repeller has given them her seal of approval, ironically enough, the 21st century iteration of the look has a decidedly flattering appeal. Think Jane Birkin-inspired trousers, sleek colorways, and a slimmer leg. OR you could always go the Rihanna for River Island route with two-toned separates...

Rihanna Cat Bomber Jacket

Rihanna backstage during her Diamonds World Tour show in Baltimore.
Photo: MadeMe's Instagram/Urban Outfitters

Whew, it's Friday, y'all. We made it. *weeps silently in cubicle* To celebrate these last few (glorious) hours before the weekend officially starts, we wanted to share some of the best fashion news we found this week. Basically, Rihanna is on her Diamonds World Tour (LOL, like you didn't already know), and during one of her stops in Baltimore, she hung out backstage in THE dopest bomber we have seen to date—mainly, because it had a giant cat face on the back of it. So amazing, right?! I mean, we are mega serious about cat fashion here at MTV Style, so we immediately scoured the web to swipe up this exact jacket for ourselves our dear readers. Luckily, it's available to purchase at Urban Outfitters this very second, but it'll cost you 298 buckaroos. Pretty steep, but guys, it's a CAT. BOMBER. JACKET.

Photo: Society6/Etsy/Wholesale Halloween/Livenation/MAC/Sephora

From her high-flying party anthems to her totally distinctive personal style, there's NO denying that our girl Ke$ha is an uncompromising original spirit...and that's exactly why we love her! But just in case you had any doubts about that fact, look no further than the singer's very own MTV show Ke$ha: My Crazy Beautiful Life, which gives us a peek inside her ridiculous everyday antics courtesy of her filmmaker brother (pssst, if you haven't seen it yet, drop whatever you're doing and watch it now!). Yep, the pop star has come about a zillion lightyears away from back when she was just a little kid making cameos The Simple Life, right?! So it's time, then, that we give Ke$h a well-deserved shoutout in our own way, by rounding up the absolute very best stuff for all the Animals out there. Whether it's repping her lyrics on your outfit OR just paying tribute with glitter or a gold tooth, crank up the music and check out these six ways to show Ke$ha some love.

Rihann Rottweiler Tee Leather Skirt

Rihanna in NYC on April 23.
Photo: Splash News/Karmaloop/River Island/Apparel Supply/Debenhams/ASOS

We don't usually pat ourselves on the back for our awesome internet sleuthing skills, but this time (and this time only!) we're gonna need to gloat a little. Here's the deal—yesterday we spotted Rihanna out and about in NYC sporting THE most badass spring ensemble (no pastels here!), and we needed to cop it immediately. But, of course, it's Rihanna, meaning the entire look is a wee bit out of our price range, so we decided to scour every corner of the internet to find you an almost EXACT replica of her outfit for under $100. You read that right—under $100. *brushes shoulders off* First up, her Givenchy rottweiler tee. She's worn another version of this bad boy before, and, unfortunately, the real thing could cost you nearly $300. Ouch. We found a cheaper (and less terrifying) version for only $16.00, which we think is pretty doggone cool.

urban outfitters della

Urban Outfitters will stock Della's signature colorful accessories.

Thanks to the past success of its Around The World offshoots featuring international brands like Wood Wood and MiniMarket, Urban Outfitters is definitely NO stranger to expanding its vision (sans passport). But now the mass retailer is going even more global with a sustainable spin to its already well-stocked selection of worldly goods. UO has teamed up with Della, a Los Angeles-based brand that sells wildly cool clothing and accessories handcrafted in Ghana. According to Refinery 29, the label's roomy jackets, track shorts, and accessories like iPad cases are produced by local women, all of whom receive background training and education from the company. Besides being actually, you know, cute, these colorful printed pieces are 100% vegan and totally sustainable. Oh, and we mention everything's priced under $69?!

Just face it—procrastination got the best of you. Whether you've been too busy planning the school dance, studying up for your exams, or playing in a punk rock band, you've waited too long to pick out a new dress for prom and—gasp—it's mere hours away! Don't freak out just yet—if you have an LBD (little black dress, obvi) and a couple hours before the mall closes, you're good to go. We found ways to dress up even the most standard black frock for the big dance while still staying true to your personal style. We used a classic box-pleated frock from Forever 21 ($25) as a guide, so check out how we transformed it from traditional to prom-ready below!

THE POINDEXTER PROCRASTINATOR

Prom Procrastinator Fashion

For the girl that's more focused on getting As than A-lines, we found the PERFECT accessories to show off your intelligent and fashion-savvy side. First off, we needed something to snazz up this ensemble in a snap, so we opted for a super cute gold scalloped collar necklace ($7) that's glam but not too over-the-top. Then, to show off your affinity for literature, we thought this green and gold novel clutch with a beautiful satin interior ($25) was pretty on-point paired with Swarovski crystal-embellished frames ($300). PERF.

Uniqlo shows off its print game on the runway and in its new Uniqlo collab.
Photo: Style.com/Courtesy of Uniqlo

Matching is SO overrated. At least that's the case with Max Osterweis and Erin Beatty, the founders of New York label Suno. Since its inception back in 2008, the brand has won a well-deserved cult following for its mishmash of fabrics, colors, and exotic patterns, all of which are sourced everywhere from Kenya to Peru to its home base in Manhattan. It's easy to swoon over the eye-popping goods at Fashion Week and on stars like Solange, but it's decidedly tougher to work up the spare change to snag a Suno original for our own personal wardrobes. Until now, that is, because Max and Erin are the latest additions to Uniqlo's Designer Invitation Project and are officially joining forces with the mega-retailer on a capsule of pattern-perfect designs. Filled with floral motifs and stripes that take cues from "Japanese Americana" (as well as their own runway pieces, as evidenced above), the collection is a total prints PARTY, and everyone's closet is invited. So who's in!?

Beyonce

Beyonce Stan Swag that'll have the b****** bowing down.
Photo: Etsy/Society 6/Hype Means Nothing/Urban Outfitters

All the ladies, if you feel me, help me sing it ouuuuuut. Everyone is a Beyonce fan, right? If Kate McKinnon as Ann Romney on SNL's Weekend Update says it, that means it's true, right? Well, as you probably already know, King Bey has just kicked off her several month-long The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour. We're girding our loins for when the show finally touches down in NYC via Barclays Center (a.k.a. her hubby Hov's house), but that's not until August. *WAHHHHHH* In the meantime, we're stocking up on all the coolest Stan Swag (that can be read as a permutation of "super-fan" or *achem* this Stan) the Beyhive has to offer while we count down to showtime.

There are certainly some girls who know exactly what prom dress they're going to wear from the day they start high school. They know exactly what they want, and they seek it out. In the prom issue of ASOS magazine, Sarah Hyland talks about how she knew precisely which dress she wanted, and she ended up finding it, exactly, in the sale rack of a discount shop, the only one, in her size. For some girls, prom can be magic. On the flip side, though, there are some girls who aren't totally sure what look they're going for, let alone where to go looking for that specific dress. If you're feeling particularly stumped, a good place to start is to think back on some of your favorite red carpet looks. While it's probably a challenge to acquire the EXACT dress your favorite starlet wore on the carpet, those fancy frocks are often a VERY good jumping point. To get you going, we looked at signature looks from three of our red carpet faves for inspiration, and found three dresses that any girl could totally rock at prom for that red carpet vibe.

EMMA WATSON

If you're not into the traditional prom dress, it's OK. Emma Watson isn't into traditional red carpet looks either, but she's figured out a consistently fabulous workaround. The trailblazing actress has been a Best Dressed staple for us for years, in particular for her love of short, form-fitting silhouettes in graphic prints. You just don't see much of that on the red carpet, and just like it stands out at an awards show, we're confident that it would also stand out on the dance floor at your prom. Luckily, there are a number of different ways you can wear Emma's signature style.

If you're looking to be a little spendy, we LOVE Nasty Gal's Lumeria dress ($300.00). The blue TIE-DYE frock features a body-hugging silhouette, asymmetrical (but not TOO asymmetrical) hemline, and a completely unique print that we adore. If you're comfortable going even more casual, Topshop's Floral Stripe Cut Out Dress ($84.00) is a practical option, since you can dress it up or down, and therefore, wear it night after night, not just at prom. Finally, for something in between, the Techno Sound Dress ($70.00), also from Nasty Gal, features a bold, versatile print, with splashes of metallic to really keep things interesting.

We've been dishing out tips ALL week on how to have the perfect prom. From the shoes to the dress to the hair, we've done it all, but... have you thought what you're going to wear after the dance is over? *cricket chirping* Don't worry, we rounded up some amazing ensembles for wherever you decide to go post-prom. The guidelines: comfort and affordability are key while still looking hella cute (obvi). Let's get to it!

FANCY AFTER PARTY

After Prom Dresses

After-prom dresses!

If you're heading somewhere else fancy after the big dance, make sure to pick a frock that doesn't compete with your prom dress (and has that extra party-girl edge). We love this bright peach lace-insert shift dress ($92) because it's bold and can be dressed up or down as much as you'd like. (Think of all the killer accessories you could sport with this bad boy!) If you seriously want to channel the spirit of spring, we suggest this chic-yet-girly floral print bandeau dress ($92), which you can rock with your updo from the dance. For the gals that want to go ALL OUT, we recommend this neon and gold sequin panel skater dress ($160) that is totally show-stopping. Just throw on some coral lipstick, and you're good to go!
