The end of the year provides perfect party opportunities to try beauty trends you've seen all year but haven't given a go yet. In 2013, our fave looks were updated classics, like a bright liner for your cat eye, or a coppery smoky eye. Katy Perry, Ariana Grande, Solange, and Demi Lovato all gave great face this year, and we've found some products that will help you cop their looks, just in time for New Year's Eve.

COVERGIRL Katy Perry served up a twist on the smoky eye at the 2013 Unicef Ball, subbing in light brown and gold for typical black and silver. The lighter shadow complemented her gray-blue eyes and drew attention to her full, dark lashes. If you love a smoky eye but are looking for a change, you can try Katy's coppery look for yourself, using COVERGIRL Flamed Out Shadow Pots in Melted Caramel and in Melted Gold. The combo provides a light, shimmery alternative to dark grays and black. With a swipe of Bombshell Volume Mascara, your lashes will rival Katy's.
Around these parts, we do "The 12 Days Of Christmas" a liiittle differently. Because, let's be honest: what are you really going to do with a boatload of livestock, leaping lords, and milking maids, anyway? Wouldn't you rather have something like, IDK, a super-sweet beauty bundle filled with COVERGIRL cosmetics? (Of course you would! Makeup > turtle doves.)
You better watch out. You better not cry. You better not pout, I'm telling you why: If you do, your awesome holiday manicure is going to seem WAY less jolly. Seriously, nobody likes a Grinch. Regardless of whether you've been naughty or nice, we're going to let you have a present anyway. (We wouldn't even know where to get coal if we had to, TBH.) This year, we've teamed up with COVERGIRL to give you the gift of adorable nail art in the form of tiny Santa hats! Ho ho ho!
Giants fans, this #fanicure is for you.
There's a lot going on the day of Thanksgiving: there's cooking, the parade, making small talk with your uncle, and, of course, football. Giving yourself a manicure that reps your fave team will be perfect convo fodder for the dinner table and will allow you a few minutes to escape the chaos that is preparing a turkey. With the help of COVERGIRL, and one of their nail artists, Ayana Clark, we've created a "fanicure" that is perfect for NY Giants fans, who won't actually get to see their team play on Thanksgiving, but are always rooting for them.

We've been asking you to share your best #covermoment and picking a handful of standouts to highlight every month. This month, in honor of the HUGE release of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, we're pulling out one lucky
tribute #covermoment and *pause for dramatic effect* recreating YOUR look. That's right, @julzz311, you've inspired US.
Granted, we—ok, I—didn't do NEARLY as elegant a job at this Mockingjay-inspired beauty look as you (I have a fistful of thumbs and almost no patience), but we tried! And for the rest of you, we're breaking down the steps we took to get it, so that you can get properly decked out to head to the theater and watch one of these early showings of Catching Fire. LEGGO!
Sophie Schillaci's "Catching Fire" #covermoment.
I'm not Effie Trinket, but I'll still get down with a good old fashioned Capitol-style makeover. Before Elizabeth Banks, Jennifer Lawrence and the rest of the cast hit the red carpet on Monday night for the U.S. premiere of Catching Fire, I got to experience my very own #covermoment outside Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre thanks to COVERGIRL.
It all started Monday afternoon at The Standard Hotel in downtown L.A., where I was greeted by CG's rockstar team of makeup, hair and nail artists. The colorful products were laid out like candy, and I just couldn't resist snapping a photo!
Remember those Catching Fire-inspired makeup looks that COVERGIRL rolled out last month? Remember how amazing but sort of over-the-top they were as far as real life wearability? (IDK about you, but mirrored eyebrows don't exactly scream, "everyday staple" to us.) We were pretty sure you felt the same, so we asked which of the Captial Collection looks you'd most want to see translated into something that could still have some legs after Halloween.
DIY District 12 nail art!
SQUEE! It's almost time, People of Panem. Catching Fire is only a few short weeks away! (Or 18 days, to be exact.) Soon, we'll be announcing which district-inspired makeup look from COVERGIRL's Capitol Collection you chose to have us recreate IRL. But in the meantime, we're here to help you get your nail game right and start reppin' your favorite district on your fingers.
With the help of COVERGIRL, we've created our own version of their Capitol Collection nail art designs by combining similar color schemes with the line’s decorative stickers. This first tutorial is for District 12 (Mining), but we'll also be rolling out our interpretations of a few other districts' designs over the next few days, exclusively on covermoment.com/beauty.

OK, it's getting down to the wire. If you don't have your Halloween costume figured out by now, you're going to need something that's a.) requires little to no assembly, and b.) you can pick up at three or fewer places. What's a good way to get that done without thumbing through whatever's leftover in your local Halloween shop? A Day of the Dead costume! It's an All Hallows' Eve staple, but the best thing about it is the fact that your makeup does all the work. As far as garments go, a lot of black and lace will suffice plus a few flowers here and there and in your hair. It's the intricate, colorful sugar skull look that'll seal the deal. Even better? You can get all the products you need at your nearest drug store in the COVERGIRL aisle.

No other makeup look is so versatile for Halloween as the zombie. Celebrity and political costumes are instantly a bajillion times more interesting with the addition of sunken eyes, hollowed cheeks, and an unshakable appetite (for brains). The good news is: you don't need any fancy movie makeup or years of practice to achieve the look. We hacked a convincing (and kinda pretty?) version that you can do easily yourself, all with COVERGIRL products from your nearest drug store.
