If you hear a sharp buzzing in your ear, don't be alarmed! Actually, DO be alarmed because that's US, sending out our style signal to alert you that your last chance to enter our "MTV Style 7 Looks Fall Challenge" contest is rapidly approaching! (You have until September 30th!) Instead of watching that one extra episode of Law and Order: SVU before you go to bed tonight, you should prahhhbably prep your entry instead. It's easy, we swear! (We even made a board of our own to show you how easy it is, but sadly, we can't win our own contests. WOMP!)
Things we DON’T like about going back to school: alarm clocks, Algebra, pencils, books and teacher’s dirty looks. Things we DO like about going back to school: fall fashion. (OK and learning. OK and also the cute boy in English class.) Like it or not, school is back in session, y’all! And it actually looks like you guys out there just MIGHT be enjoying yourselves! How do we know this, you ask? Because we’ve attached tiny cameras to all of your backpacks. JK that would be weird and creepy and mad expensive. We know you’re having fun because we’ve been scoping out your #covermoments and we've seen TONS of on-campus smiley shots!

We tried the Fallon New York Fashion Week Spring 2014 runway makeup ourselves.

You asked for it! At the close of this past Spring 2014 season of New York Fashion Week, we showed you a few beauty looks ripped straight from the runway that we couldn't wait to try. With so much fun stuff to test out, we needed a little help prioritizing and turned to you to tell us which one we should try our hands at first, and in reward, we'd show you how to do it. Your top pick? This rust smoky eye from the Fallon show. SO cool. Welp, I holed away at my desk with our stockpile of COVERGIRL makeup and figured it out just for you. Here we go!
It officially feels like fall in New York today, you guys. Yup, sweater weather is here in full effect, which means that sitting at your desk just got a WHOLE lot more comfortable. (This also means that we’re allowed to hibernate until spring and eat lots of pizza until we reach bathing suit temps again, but SHH! That’s our little secret.) Seriously though, fall is pretty much the best. It’s the only time of year when you get to pull an outfit mullet (long sleeves up top, bare legs on the bottom) without looking like you forgot to check the weather—because even if you DO forget to check the weather, you’re automatically appropriately dressed. Like I said, fall’s the best.
Now that Fashion Week is over, we've been looking at photos from the runway, trying to see what new makeup looks we can incorporate into our beauty encyclopedia, somewhere between "bold lip" and "smoky eye." SO, we've picked five looks straight from the runway that we're eager to try. Let's go!

We picked this look from Jill Stuart because we like that it's grungey, pretty and, besides the eyes, fairly minimal. The silver in the corner of the eye gives an unexpected (and updated) twist to the heavily-lined eye look we've come to love, and we're all about modernizing.
Is this your dream outfit?

Even though we're not quite finished rehashing all the spring-centric looks that debuted on the New York Fashion Week runways, we’re well-aware that fall is RIGHT around the corner! Cozy sweaters, structured jackets, tights galore! Can’t you just smell the pumpkin-flavored lattes from here? We can’t wait to get our layer on and have been pinning our ideal fall wardrobe for months now—and we bet you have too! So why not get rewarded for all that hard work?
In case you’ve been snoozing (or are experiencing a Fashion Week-induced blackout), Janelle Monae performed live at Rebecca Minkoff’s Spring 2014 runway show last week and, true to form, it was electric. (Side note: Monae’s second studio album, The Electric Lady, is out today! *raises roof*) Minkoff’s brightly-colored collection, which drew inspiration from Frida Kahlo and Bianca Jagger, was edgy and modern and OMG can we please talk about those IN-SANE knee-high gladiator sandals? My heart was a-flutter. “I love the clothes, the shoes, everything!” Janelle told us.
Now that summer is ~officially~ over (boooo), back to school shopping is in full swing, and it's totally overwhelming. Sure, you have your first day outfit planned, but what about the next day? The day after that? You can't make a big debut and then lay low the rest of the week, so we've collected some back to school essentials that will make your entrance back into the world of papers, tests, and two-hour chemistry labs a little less painful, and lot more stylish.
Becky G's winning nail art for the 2013 VMAs.
Long before the actual VMAs show got underway, we scoured the red carpet to find the stars who'd gone the extra style-mile with finer details on their digits. After narrowing it down to Rita Ora, the sisters NERVO, Becky G and Nessa from "Girl Code," we left it up to you to decide who had the ~most ballinest~ nail art at this year's awards. Drumroll, please…
With her Brooklyn-inspired, splattered and sparkling, crazy-colorful design, you chose Becky G, the lovely and talented 16-year-old rapper who just so happens to be one of COVERGIRL's own! The first-time attendee rocked "urban swag" in full effect thanks to COVERGIRL nail artist, Ayana Clark, who helped us recreate Becky's winning look for you to try at home!
On Labor Day it's essential you dress in all white.

Ummm, how is it almost Labor Day? Wasn't it just Memorial Day? Why doesn't the winter go this fast? We're not ready to break out our hats and scarves! While we don't particularly subscribe to any fashion adages, there is one that comes to mind whenever Labor Day is mentioned, which is, of course, that you can't wear white after Labor Day. Obviously, you can do whatever you want before, during, and after Labor Day, or any other day for that matter, but in honor of the old saying, we're turning up the white for Labor Day. White on white on white: it's the end of the summer, you've got to live it up.
