NERVO on the 2013 VMA red carpet.
Last night, three of our fave COVERGIRLS--Mim and Liv Nervo (aka NERVO) and Becky G hit the 2013 VMA Red Carpet, bringing major nail and makeup looks with them—they were totally #covermoment ready. They gave us a sneak peek at their wardrobe choices before they arrived at the Barclays Center on covermoment.com, and now, fortunately for us, are sharing their nail and makeup inspiration, as well as how to achieve the looks.
Ciara strikes a stare in Brooklyn.
Last night, Ciara got super turnt up for a packed house at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg for a special MTV x COVERGIRL #covermoment VMA pre-party performance. Rocking her new darker ‘do and decked out in white-hot leather from head-to-toe (her toes were literally covered by white leather Giuseppe Zanotti sneaker wedges), Ciara sang and got her grind on with a set chock full of hits like "Goodies," "1, 2 Step," "DUI," and "Body Party."
NERVO share their #covermoment selfies.
DJ duo NERVO will be providing the soundtrack to the 2013 VMA Red Carpet on August 25th (that's this Sunday!). While the twins' hair and makeup is always edgy and on point, they were able to get COVERGIRL makeup artist Katie Robinson to help them amp up their looks and make sure they're #covermoment ready for the VMAs.

The 2013 VMAs, as we all know, are on August 25th. If you've ever seen the VMAs - and if you haven't, uh, what rock have you been living under? - you know that the night is bound to have some memorable moments. Between a lax dress code and live performances, the past 29 years have been chock-full of looks that we remember today. Madonna, in a wedding dress, to perform "Like A Virgin," anyone? Oh hey, blue-haired, braces-wearing Gwen Stefani, we still remember the platform flip-flops you wore in 1998; like, how could we not?
In order to see how this year's looks (Miley! Katy! Gaga!) stack up against those from past 29 years, we've taken a look back at all the past VMAs and rounded up the most memorable moments, from red carpet to live performances. Check out the looks we think made the cut and be sure to watch the VMAs to see where 2013 will land in #covermoment history.

NERVO, the gorgeous blonde, twin DJing duo, Liv and Mim, have a lot going: they've traveled the world DJing, penned songs for Ke$ha, Kylie Minogue, and David Guetta, and are now COVERGIRL's Global Trendspotters and will be DJing the VMA Red Carpet. So, yeah, they know what's cool.
Here at MTV Style, we've been fans of Tegan and Sara since the wispy baby bangs "Walking With A Ghost" days, so you can imagine how stoked we were to have a chance to talk to the Quin twins all grown up at Lollapalooza this year. Performing in front of a sea of people in Chi-town's Grant Park is nerve-racking, even for these sisters who've done it before, so we asked them what it takes for them to be comfortable and feel confident on stage.
This is what we think you should pack for Lollapalooza this weekend.

When you love your closet as much as we do, packing is always hard. It's a fact. And packing for a festival, like, say Lollapalooza which is just on the other side of this week? As in, you're going to spend the majority of your day outside in the sun, in a park or field or some other grassy/dirt expanse, with a deluge of rowdy, sweaty people? That makes it even harder to optimize for "cute." Luckily, you have us. If you've never been to Lolla, or even Chicago in late July, there are a few things you're going to need to keep in mind: dress for comfort, go for pieces that can withstand long hours under the sun, and put together a look that's holds up in a field but can work for the city, too.
These are summer beach essentials that don't suck.

What's the most fun way to beat a heat wave? Head for water! IDK about you, but when the temperature starts rising to unseasonable degrees, booking it for the nearest beach is my knee-jerk reaction. (When I'm not, y'know, working, that is.) Sure, you're not going to cut out the sweating by being outside, but a little perspiration doesn't have to put a damper on your steez, especially when you're basking in naturally mane-tousling beach air (guaranteed excellent hair day = HUGE WIN). You likely already have your suit, but there are a few other must-have beach accessories that are essential for keeping your style game 100, even when you're accidentally mixing sand into your sunblock and dodging jellyfish.

Dressing for spring is hard. You want to break out your short shorts and little dresses, but it's sometimes still chilly and often very rainy (April showers, and all that). Have no fear, though, because summer is here! It's finally, REALLY, shorts weather, and we are SO excited. There are a lot of super solid trends happening this season and tons of options for trying them out. From rompers to vests to jelly sandals to floral dresses, this is going to be one good lookin' warm weather season. Like we did back in the spring, we teamed up with maurices to show you some of our favorite summer trends to give you a little bit of inspiration as the mercury steadily rises in the coming days. So whether easy breezy button downs or super short shorts (or both!) are your fancy, we can pretty much promise that we've got something you're gonna be into.
