Ryan Lochte, Jay Leno

Move over Gosling, there's a new Ryan in town: Olympic medalist Ryan Lochte. Okay, maybe that was a little premature, since we're not actually ready to replace the Gos (pretty sure we'll never be), but the induction of Lochte into a league of same-named heartthrob-juggernauts is undeniable. (Check out all the memes he spawned!) Suffice it to say we were preeetty excited to see Lochte's appearance on last night's episode of "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno". How many times would he say "JEAH!"? Would he make a comment about those infamous grills? What would the burgeoning style star WEAR and would it involve a bare chest? *sops up drool from keyboard* We now have the answers to these questions.

We never thought we'd say this, but OMG, WE ARE SO SAD THE OLYMPICS ARE OVER. *sniff sniff* It feels like just yesterday we were prepping our Opening Ceremony party ensemble, and now the Closing Ceremony is over, and we're left with nothing but bags of chips and a Spice Girl song stuck in our head. :( The cool part, though, is that this year's Olympics were not only filled with tons of hard-earned U.S. victories, but also some of THE most unforgettable style moments! From the sparkly leotards to killer nail art to amazing waterproof makeup, there were endless amounts of memorable fashion and beauty looks that will forever be ingrained in our memories. Let's check out our top 10 picks, shall we?

Olympics Style

First and foremost—Mr. Ryan Lochte. Before a couple weeks ago, we knew next to nothing about this Olympic medal-winning swimmer, but as it turns out he has a SERIOUS penchant for fashion-y kicks, grills, and memorable catchphrases (JEAH!). His decked-out American flag grill almost cost him a gold medal, but we think it was TOTALLY worth it, right? Sooo shinnnyyy.

Russia's Svetlana Romashina and Natalia Ishchenko.

Between all the gymnastics and swimming action currently filling up our DVR, let's just say our Olympics watching schedule is pretty packed (tough life, we know...). BUT there's one more sport that you should add to your queue, and it's not exactly what you'd expect: synchronized swimming. Sure, it may not have quite the same cult fanbase of other Olympic sports (cough Ryan Lochte cough), but the music, the precision, and the fact that it's basically perfectly coordinated water ballet make it our newest obsession. Oh, and let's talk about the unexpectedly AMAZING fashion-slash-pop music mashup that happened at the technical duets on Sunday, shall we? Russian teammates Natalia Ishchenko and Svetlana Romashina literally rocked the competition, swimming to a mix of Michael Jackson hits and decked out in- get this- glittery MJ swimsuits.

Team USA's Jordyn Wieber, Gabrielle Douglas, McKayla Maroney, Kyla Ross, and Aly Raisman.

WHOA. Can we please just talk about how absolutely AMAZING Team USA was during women's gymnastics for a minute? Jordyn Wieber, Gabrielle Douglas, McKayla Maroney, Kyla Ross, and Aly Raisman, totally dominated last night, absolutely killing it in the floor and vault routines and bringing home the second gold medal EVER for the U.S. women's gymnastics team (making history, people!). Twelve hours later, now that we've watched the clips for like, the thousandth time and our winning high has subsided a little bit, we can finally focus on...dun dun dun...the fashion. The girls may have ruled the competition in shimmery leotards, but we're equally obsessed with the team's off-duty style in the adorable photo above.

Ryan Lochte

Let's talk about Ryan Lochte. He's the 27-year-old American swimmer who made his Olympic debut at the 2004 Athens Olympics when he was just 19. He swam alongside Olympic phenom Michael Phelps (ever heard of him?) in the men's 400m individual medley this weekend and won GOLD for the good ol' U-S-of-A. BUT he was reportedly in danger of not receiving his medal because of a controversial accessory move en route to the podium: the dude popped in a set of American flag grills. It's not like we've never seen grills before (we ARE the network that brought you From G's to Gents sweetheart Riff Raff after all), it's just that, when you're part of a team that has posh Opening Ceremony uniforms crafted by Ralph Lauren complete with smart little berets, throwing on a pair of diamond grills is definitely a curveball. For a dude to pull a style stunt this ballsy, we KNEW there had to be more to this budding fashion icon, so we did a little research. To follow are our findings, and in the spirit of the international games, we're doling out (and subtracting) points as they contribute to Ryan's overall style score.

Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade

The wide and wonderful world of sports is one into which we seldom venture in these here digital pages of MTV Style (save, perhaps, our 24-hour David Beckham watch). Between Lady Gaga's black liquid perfume announcement and finding out where to score Katy Perry's movie poster outfit, we're rarely left with much time to cover the ins and outs of athletic fashion. HOWEVER, we write to you eyeballs deep in the exciting Oklahoma City Thunder v. Miami Heat 2012 NBA Finals, and the faux glasses fashion battle that is concurrently happening up and down these post-game interviews is more than enough to change our tune.

On the off-chance that you haven't been keeping up with the NBA Playoffs, let us fill you in. Last night, we just completed Game 3 of the NBA Finals, and the Heat are now leading the Thunder 2-1, which sounds as much like a meteorological report as it does a sports recap. On top of boasting the winningest records in the league, these two teams are also home to some of the NBA's most sartorially savvy players - Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant, LeBron James, and Dwyane Wade. The four powerhouses have caught a lot of flack this season for wearing bold, lensless glasses during their post-game interviews, embodying a look that's been likened to Steve Urkel and Carlton Banks, and Westbrook was recently quoted claiming that he originated the "nerd glasses" trend, a statement both James and Wade vocally refute. In light of all the bespectacled buzz, we decided to take a closer look!

Julia Stiles and Anna Wintour attend a Chicago Bulls vs. New York Knicks Game at Madison Square Garden.

Fully aware that we're a quote-unquote fashion site, we need to discuss something sports related. You guys, Anna Wintour went to a Knicks game last night. And she sat front row (obvs). Also, she sat as if she was front row at a runway show complete with bold separates (this is the season of vivid color remember?), black heeled boots, her trademark bob and sunglasses combo, as well as a sassy-fresh, arms-crossed, "this is GARISH" pose as if she was scrutinizing the disheveled, sweat-infused uniforms these hard-working athletes were undoubtedly sporting in the second half of the game. But it's kind of awesome, right? I mean, she's the Editor in Chief of Vogue for goodness sake—at a sports event. We're getting shaky just thinking about it. Thus, let's discuss.
