Harry Styles

Harry Styles tries a new look with Line Camera.

Of all the boys of One Direction, Harry Styles is the most known for wielding a signature preppy style. Whether he's clad in button-ups and blazers or fuzzy cashmere, Harry's steez is, more often than not, crisp, clean, and collegiate. BUT we know that people change, and with chest tattoos and new girlfriends perhaps also comes a change in style. With 1D's meteoric rise to international fame, Harry probably can't roll up to a store and leisurely try stuff on (that is, unless he shuts it down), so what better way to experiment with style than via model Pixie Geldof's Line Camera stamps?

Rihanna on her 777 Tour plane, Cat Wanged.

Yesterday we crowned the MTV Style 2012 king and queen, and brought you "The Big & Best Of 2012: A Year End Celebration Brought To You by T-Mobile," and over the past weeks we've broken down everything from the best nail art to the best magazine covers, the best band style and best facial hair. Today we're getting a little more specific, and breaking down our five favorite sticker apps of 2012. We have a lot more Best of 2012 coming, too, so stay tuned right here.

One thing that took up a lot (too much) of our time this year: Instagram. Both at work and at play, we at MTV Style are all about the photo app, and make sure to document everything from the crazy products that come through our office to the amazing events we get to attend. From the runway, to the Rihanna Plane, to the set of House Of Style, we're always on the lookout for a good photo opp. Sometimes, though, we're feeling a little more playful than just straight documentarians, which is where our fave photo apps come in. Whether you're putting little bears all over your brunch photos with Line Camera or adding a little rainbow to your selfies with the Lisa Frank app, there are tons of ways to jazz up your pics, and make them stand out from the crowd of ho-hum, well, brunch photos and selfies.

Ok, Catpaint was a fave of ours even before Instagram, but after a couple of years it got a little old, we have to admit. We LOVED the cat motif the Odd Future crew plastered all over their Golf Wang tees and hats, and so naturally their Cat Wang app made us purr like creepy little upside-down cross painted kittens. With a huge variety of cat faces, as well as explosions, laser beams, beanies and paid add-ons, this app upps the ante of Cat Paint so your photos still have that shot of feline-induced "awww" but with a little bit of an "ew" thrown in for good measure. We applied some cat faces and laser beams to one of our photos from Rihanna's 777 tour above. The app is free and you can download it here.

The editor function on the Polyvore iPhone app.
Photo: Polyvore

It's totally unhealthy and pretty embarrassing, but sometimes I sleep with (one of my two, never both, I'm not an animal) iPhones next to my pillow. It's probably a sign that I work too much, or am addicted to the internet or something, but I'm betting I'm not the only one who occasionally cozies up with a little black or white rectangle between the sheets. Being able to carry your whole life in your pocket is basically a given these days, and having all of your apps at the ready is a key part of that. Up until now, one of fashion's favorite social media platforms, Polyvore, was still trapped in the land of the browser, but all that is changing: the style collage leader has just announced an iPhone app. Oh right, now you get why you heard the cheers of a thousand fashion bloggers yesterday. It wasn't because just they all got free two day shipping from Cyber Monday. The app has everything the in-browser interface does, with an extremely user-friendly mobile interface and access to thousands of products. It's "street style on the go," because you can make collages the moment you see something you love, allowing you to create living mood boards that represent your inspiration from moment to moment, day to day. You can also follow your favorite Polyvore users, of course, and keep up with their boards when you're on the go. Did we mention it's free from the app store, and you can download it now?

Tyra Smize

Smizing, ladies and gentlemen.
Photo: Getty Image

As Tyra Banks continues her quest for world domination, she can officially cross "Make the entire world smile with their eyes" off her to-do list. The model/talk show host/reality judge released a Smize Yourself! app this week that, well, does exactly what you think it would do: forces you to smize. Basically, it works like this: You pay $1.99, Tyra gives you a quick pep talk on how to smize (key points include: Use good lighting, have a dead mouth [seriously, she said that. DEAD. MOUTH. #zombie], and to think of something "you REALLY desire," which, in my case, is Doritos), and then you jump right into it. You line your face up with the outline, snap a pic, adjust the markers, and voila! You're supposed to look like a model. Unfortunately, that didn't happen for me. I tried it and thought, "Whoa, am I normally this asymmetrical and deformed or did the smizing app do that?" and forced my co-workers to try it. Then, I posted their pics on the internet for everyone to see. BAHAHA. (JK, love you dudes!)

Sarah Hyland

Confession: even though we're, uh, past the middle school gaming days, we're still suckers for Super Mario Brothers (and Tetris, and Minesweeper, and Pac Man...). Turns out we're not the only ones— Sarah Hyland's got a soft spot for old-school Nintendo, too. The Modern Family actress has signed on to rep TWO brand-new projects from the gaming company. The first, called "Style Savvy: Trendsetters," is a shopping-based game where users create and manage their own stores, from designing the interior of the shop, to stocking the boutique, to making sure their customers are happy. Think of it as living vicariously- er, virtually- through your favorite editors, buyers, and industry insiders. Plus, you can check out what the other players are into, with over 12,000 clothes, shoes, and accessories to choose from. Shopping without spending any money? We'll take it!

Is it just us, or does Opening Ceremony keeping getting cooler and COOLER? Fresh off of throwing a killer 10 Year Anniversary party featuring a performance by Queen Bee Lil Kim, and showcasing Le1f's custom playlist for the Patrik Ervell Spring 2013 show on their website (including tracks from OMD, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony and Pussy Riot) the cool kids shop spoiled us even more, launching an iPad app in conjunction with their limited-edition magazine, Annual.

I love these two as a couple. What a festive way to celebrate two important events in their life. Mariah looks like a dream.
