Formerly scoffed by many as the slightly less-beloved long-legged cousin of the romper, the elusive JUMPSUIT is working its way to becoming a commonly seen and widely accepted silhouette. That's right. The utilitarian onesie is no longer the exclusive uniform of skydivers and motorcycle racers. Nor is it relegated to the stage as a fanciful performance outfit in the form of a neon spandex catsuit. Nope. The jumpsuit is ready for real life where it can roam free in the wild of city sidewalks and cul-de-sac barbeques.

Riding the wave of the '90s revival alongside Justin Bieber and Willow Smith's classic sitcom t-shirts, Lady Gaga's vintage Versace, and Nickelodeon's '90s Are All That, the jumpsuit is cleaning up its act this time around, abandoning the painted-on plastic/latex/PVC of the nineties for more sophisticated, relaxed cuts and easy, (PRAISE BE) breathable fabrics. Sure, you end up basically naked every time you have to use the bathroom, but the refreshing figuration is WORTH IT.

Carey Mulligan at the Toronto International Film Festival, Ellie Goulding at Best Buy in NYC, Alexa Chung at the 2011 NME Awards.
Photo: WireImage/Getty Images/WireImage

Stars, guys. They are nothing like us, gaseous and burning billions of light years away. (We mean the celestial balls of light...not celebrities, of course.) The galaxy, with its multitude of colors and psychedelics is perfect sartorial inspiration—dark but not black, eye-catching but not garish. After Christopher Kane got galaxial for his 2011 resort collection (which has been worn by everyone from Anne Hathaway to Carey Mulligan, above), seeing stars on the red carpet has gotten easier than seeing stars on the red carpet.

Carey's Christopher Kane gown is elegant but not dowdy; the full-bodied skirt and high neck are complemented by the fun, spaced-out print. (Also, any shoes work because the dress itself literally has EVERY color in the spectrum emblazoned on the fabric.) Then Ellie Goulding showed up to her Best Buy performance in a Topshop high-button capelet/blouse that's borrowed straight from NASA for a supernova that is more beautiful than any paisley or plaid or print we've ever seen. And Britain's it-girl Alexa Chung has been spotted out in Kane's resort collection loads of times, but this leather bustier dress is one of our favorites, simply because it is so space-age mod. The stolen-from-satellites star print is both fun and thoughtful; accordingly, we've picked our favorite starry-eyed looks below.

Summer slipper trend

Kelly Osbourne, Naya Rivera, and Pixie Lott in their finest loafers and slippers.

In our humble opinion, the only good thing about summer coming to an end is looking forward to fall fashion trends, and our favorite trend so far—one that is perfect for transitioning into the new season—is the penny loafer slash smoking slipper. In a sea of sky-high platforms (which can result in embarrassing pratfalls), we're psyched that flat shoes are finally making a comeback as seen on all kinds of fashion mavens and celebrity ravens. Even though some may deem this a more practical footwear option, we see it as an opportunity to make an edgier, more comfortable statement. Also? Flats are versatile!

We love how Kelly Osbourne turns a gigantic fashion NO into a resounding YES by pairing her patent pennies with a (gasp!) long skirt. Fashion police always seem to want to arrest anyone not pairing ladylike heels with a skirt but we say hush the po-lice! This maxi and midriff combo looks positively perfect on petite n' pretty Kelly O, and we love how the studded leather jacket rocks out the overall eighties rebel look. If you want to punch up your jeans n' t-shirt uniform, do as Glee's Naya Rivera does and change it up with some two-tone loafs. Besides looking super cute, these are great for shopping excursions when you're sick of lacing up your sneakers after too many try-on sessions. What about flats for a night out you say? No problem! Pixie Lott's choice of tasseled, black leather slippers with a see-through shirt and blazer plus shorts ensemble is the perfect example of mashing up trends for evening and looking feminine while doing it. In fact, this look is so spot-on it works for both Saturday night and during the week with a skirt. Throw some tights on and you're good to go for fall, too!

Aside from the abundance of lace that's been dominating the red carpet this summer, another see-through trend has recently emerged: the visible bra. We're not talking a peekaboo strap, either, we're talking a full-on, in yo' face, "here's my bra!" statement. Fashion darlings from Kristen Stewart to Gwen Stefani nail it. So what's their secret to taking this look from taboo to trend? It's all in choosing the right undergarments, ladies. First of all, you must be covered. COMPLETELY covered. This look is about snazz not sleaze, so save the lace for over not under.

Evol Heist ‘Death Grip’ Skeleton Bracelet.
Photo: Courtesy of Evol Heist

When the Dsquared "Spine Heels" showed up on girl Ciara, we were oddly entranced and slightly grossed out in a fun way. Yes, the bony heel felt like it was trying too hard, but it also made a bit of sense. But when worn as a meta-statement outlining your actual skeleton (YOUR INSIDE IS BEING WORN ON YOUR OUTSIDE), like this incredible laser cut-out hand armor (?) from Evol Heist, it is impossible not to notice: bones are where the heart is. And with eyes and skulls being a thing, designers of the raddest sort are wondering why not bones? Those sticky, structural-but-not-geometric internal structural beams point out what sickly, organic meatbags we all actually are. And now that we've got bones on the brain, we see them everywhere we go.

Beyoncé performing at the Glastonbury Festival, June 26, 2011, Gwen Stefani at Cannes Film Festival on May 16, 2011, and Rihanna performing during her Loud tour in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on June 16, 2011.

Make no mistake: Sometimes I'm frustrated to be shackled to my arsenal of heated hair wands. I'm a curly girl fiending for the smoothness of a well-ironed strand and have surely spent (or wasted, depending on your point of view) at least a year of my life in front of the mirror perfecting the craft. Really, you should see my biceps. BUT I might be convinced to turn over a new leaf based on the showstopping volumized 'dos that are trending lately à la Beyoncé at Glastonbury earlier this week, Gwen Stefani at Cannes last month, and Rihanna ruling hard on her Loud tour. YUM.

Ashley Bell, Emma Watson, and Katie Cassidy at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards in Universal City, California on June 5, 2011.
Photo: Getty Images

Nothing quite says, "Summer's Here" like a perfectly fitted crisp white dress. Ashley Bell, Emma Watson, and Katie Cassidy all sported summery ensembles that popped on the MTV Movie Awards red carpet without looking like brides-to-be. Each gorgeous lady kept their accessories minimal and let their intricate gowns do ALL the talking.

The Last Exorcism star and Best Scared-As-S**t Performance nominee Ashley Bell opted for a lace overlay Club Monaco dress with an incredibly flattering sweetheart neckline and soft pleats, which oozed youthful gorgeousness. She swept her hair up in a loose side chignon to show off her to-die-for décolletage and accessorized with white and gold drop earrings, gold bangles, and a gold ring. The best part? Her SHOES!! Her beige satin platform peep-toe ankle-strap pumps give us juuuust a hint of sexy in her sweet ensemble, which we LOVE.

Ginnifer Goodwin goes pale with her pixie cut at the Met Gala, Kelly Rowland has purple peepers at the Billboard Awards, Katy Perry stays bright on the Grammy red carpets.

We'd like to think the Movie Awards are thee premiere red carpet event of the summer, and it's especially excellent to see stars getting their laid-back game on right in the L.A. heat. The guys and the gals both get a little more funky on our red carpet, and after perusing the awards show trends of the last few months, we have some Technicolored predictions to make about the beauty vibe at the Gibson Amphitheatre. When competing with idols such as Kristen and James or Selena and Justin, one must come most correctly: So from poppy pastel eyes and lips that can be seen for miles, we've got our beauty trend picks laid out for Sunday night.

Cheryl Cole at 'The X Factor' in L.A. on May 8, Olivia Palermo at a 'Henry's Crime' screening in New York on April 4, and Sarah Jessica Parker at the Robin Hood Foundation gala in New York on May 9.
Photo: Getty Images/PictureGroup

So, this is happening. In a real Fugu-like display, it seems teasing-the-hair-on-the-crown-of-your-head-until-a-monstrously-large-follicle-dome-floats-several-inches-above-like-a-spun-sugar-halo, is the hottest new 'do. Every one from "The X Factor"'s Cheryl Cole to fashion plates, Olivia Palermo and Sarah Jessica Parker, have succumbed to the too-enticing temptations of looking like some Southern televangelist's child bride.

It's so weird, right? All three of these women are beautiful. And incredibly stylish. I literally cannot remember the last time Palermo caught a style L. And while SJP takes hella fashion risks, it pays off more frequently than it doesn't, and usually her hair looks pristine. Inconceivable. They all come from divergent backgrounds and enjoy completely different careers and yet, here they are, sporting Rodeo-lady hair to occasions that feature multiple photographers. Were they all just feeling a little extra-kicky or retro that day? Were they all previously at respective al fresco costume luncheons that featured burnt orange Pyrex, avocado-colored fridges, swirled linoleum, halter aprons with sunflowers on them and Tupperware that nested into each other that at one time held wee, individual icebox cakes?

It's all very, "my kitchen has a chicken theme" in a way that is confusing. Perhaps it is the handiwork of a well-respected, trusted coiffeur on a spree. Or perhaps this is just the hot newnew now. Oooooor, and this is perhaps the most likely culprit, THIS is not in fact a style as it is the hottest new workout wherein teasing your tresses until it creates a giant matted pompadour works your triceps out in an anaerobic manner that creates pilates arms and makes your head look HUGE, which makes your waist look small and your feet even tinier. DONE. SOLVED. This trend may be here for keeps. I am maybe teasing my shiz right now and having an editorial assistant take wordpress dictation. YOU CAN'T KNOW. #swag

Hayden Panettiere at LAX in Los Angeles on April 26, Eve at Girls Night Out at Webster Hall in New York City on April 14, and Alessandra Ambrosio shopping at The Grove in Los Angeles on April 22.

Ultra-dyed denim is hardly new, and we all know there's nothing like a pop of color in those weeks between spring and summer when the nights are a tad nipply and you didn't necessarily intend to stay out for 22 hours after you left your house yesterday morning. But, well, heck if you don't finally deserve a bit of fun and excitement after a hard, bitter winter, so everyone stop passing judgment that you're still wearing the same clothes. At least your clothes are cute.

See, the thing about colored jeans is you can definitely overthink them. Will you get enough mileage out of green jeans? Red seems to be the safer bet, especially these skinny J Brands, but oooooh, is red played out blablablablabalbala? STOP. Look it, if Hayden, Eve and Alessandra are evidence, ANYONE can wear them ANYPLACE. Think of the vastly differing physiques/personal styles/events we've got going on in these pictures. These three ladies run the gamut, and all look very, very fetch. The thing that you have to realize is that a) It's spring, and the entire world is way too egocentric about their own wardrobes to give a pshaw about what you're wearing and b) It's spring, and you should ONLY concentrate on having as much sunshiny fun as humanly possible. You can wear ANY color, and you can wear them on multiple days a week. Get 'em a little dirty. Wear them with heels. Or flats. Or clashing colors. Or NEON color blocks. Nighttime. Daytime. Early morning after a little "nighttime." Do whatever. Yes, this IS a PSA. Now go play outside. Responsibly. With sunblock. Maybe a big hat. OH! And last, of course you have free reign on complementary articles of clothing, but we would definitely advise AGAINST wearing the same colored denim jacket. Unless you can pull it off on a suiting tip because you have an impossible body with buttloads of charisma. In that case, carry on and send us a photo.
