'Tis the season for plaid! Just last week, we (over)analyzed the orange and black plaid shirt teen heartthrob Justin Bieber wore to an event in Hollywood, ultimately concluding that he can pull off flannel fabulously. Well, so can the ladies. Last night, top model Coco Rocha, host of MTV.com's VMA 2010 Red Carpet Report, wore a red and black plaid shirt to the WWD 100th anniversary party in New York, even matching her vibrant red lipstick to the top's hue. Both Justin and Coco look awesome in plaid, but of these two, we're voting for Justin wearing the trend better, mainly because he wore his shirt proudly, while Coco covered it up with a black jacket. But what do you think?

We love a good tutu. And we're fully convinced that tutu-wearing is a rising trend that only the bold and beautiful can pull off well. So far, we've seen tutus on Pixie Lott, Rihanna, and Katy Perry — all performers. But last night, actress Christina Ricci joined the trendsetting bunch when she attended the Library Lions Benefit in New York last night looking ballerina-inspired in a lovely Marchesa tutu design from the label's fall 2010 collection. While the tutu looked great on her, we thought the tights were a little too overwhelming for the delicate look. But it was a tutu nonetheless — so success!

30 Seconds To Mars frontman Jared Leto.
All photos: Rene Cervantes/MTV

30 Seconds to Mars stopped by the MTV studios for a photo shoot recently looking H-O-T hotttttt. Our favorite look came from frontman Jared Leto, who showed up rocking his usual distressed style bad boy, I'm-in-a-band look that's hard not to love. That's why we searched all over for the exact red-rimmed aviator shades, torn navy blue tee, and studded leather jacket that he wore. What we found? Not much! So, we decided to put our creative juices to work and figure out how to hand-craft the look (that's probably what Jared Leto did, anyway!). Here's how you can steal this hottie's style...

Florence Welch in August 2010, Shenae Grimes in October 2010, and Lady Gaga in April 2009.

Clothes are sheer, sheer, sheer lately! Just this week, we saw stars prance around in see-through lace clothes with black bras underneath. And now ... peekaboo pants! Florence Welch of Florence + the Machine performed in a Chanel dress with a sheer skirt over the summer, 90210's Shenae Grimes attended a party in Los Angeles last night wearing a lace jumpsuit with a black bodysuit underneath, only covering up with a studded leather jacket, and Lady Gaga wore a pair of sheer pants last year. Is this year ending on a sheer, thigh-filled note? Seems so! At least it's one step up from last year's trend when many famous stars didn't wear pants at all.

Demi Moore at GQ's The Gentlemen's Ball on Oct. 27, and Ciara at the BET Awards on June 27.

Demi Moore and Ciara both showed off some serious edge when they wore similar Balmain dresses to recent red carpet events. Demi attended a GQ party earlier this week in a black Balmain dress that had gold details down the center and a thin studded belt. Meanwhile, Ciara wore a similar black-and-gold Balmain look to the BET Awards in June. Ciara's version had a higher neckline, additional gold embellishments on the sleeves, and a thicker, studded belt. We thought both women looked fierce in their Balmain minis, but Ciara won this one for us. Demi's shoe and hair choices were a bit too plain for the fun dress, whereas Ciara's booties really amped up the whole look. But what do you think?

Kim Kardashian in Paris on Sept. 16 and Ciara at the 'For Colored Girls' premiere in New York on Oct. 25.

It looks like BFFs Kim Kardashian and Ciara went shopping in each others' closets. The two fashion stars both stepped out wearing the same black taffeta dress by Carven ($716, mytheresa.com) and Christian Louboutin Big Lips Leopard Print Booties ($1,635, christianlouboutin.com). Kim accessorized the LBD with a chain-link shoulder purse on Sept. 16 in Paris, and wore her hair in a sleek, tight updo. Ciara, on the other hand, teamed the same ensemble with two gold bracelets and a pretty red pout at the For Colored Girls premiere on Monday. We hate to pit these two gorgeous gal pals against each other in the fashion department, but if we had to choose, Kim's sleek updo sets her apart from Ciara's loose look. But we REALLY want to know what you think.

Jessica Biel on Oct. 25, Kristin Cavallari on Sept. 14, and Jessica Lowndes on Sept. 12.

Listen, we're not going to sit type here and tell you it's easy to pull off the underwear-shown-on-purpose look. Nothing looks weirder than thick white bra straps peek-a-booing out from under a racerback tank top. Been there! But — and there's always a but — if done right, teaming a black bra with a black lacy dress or top can actually look chic, and stars Jessica Biel, Kristin Cavallari, and Jessica Lowndes nailed the look. To get it right — and not risqué — start with a solid black bra and add to it one of these sheer-looking outfit ideas below.

Kristin Cavallari and Kim Kardashian stepped out in the season's hottest color — beige — when they both picked a nude dress by British designer Hannah Marshall (originally $1,275, but now sold out) for recent events. Kim Kardashian wore the fitted, leather top and pleated skirt shift to a magazine party in Hollywood, completing the look with a gold bow buckle belt and metallic sandals. Earlier in the summer, Kristin Cavallari of The Hills wore the frock sans belt, accessorizing only with white sandals and a python clutch by Kara Ross. Both ladies looked beautiful in beige, but we think Kim Kardashian takes this style matchup. Her belt gave the dress a great finishing touch, and we loved how her bold, gold earrings mixed with the nude color. But what do you think?

Sheer gloss had it's time to shine this summer. But, for fall, it's all about a bolder approach. The runways were awash with opaque fuchsias and oranges, and celebs — from Blake Lively to Nicki Minaj — are swiping richer shades onto their pouts to make a statement without saying a word. Experts agree: "This fall's hottest hues range from vibrant reds to soft neutrals," says makeup artist Sonia Kashuk. "We're seeing nudes with depth and dimension to highlight the face rather than mute the lips," adds Jason Garner, national makeup artist for DuWop. "Plus, there's this return of Old Hollywood with dramatic red lips re-emerging as a major trend," he says. Give yourself an instant makeover by puckering up to one of these top fall trends. Capes aren't just for Count Dracula. Some of our favorite celebrities have been spotted crusading around town in the cute coat alternative. Last week, VV Brown wore hers superhero-style at the Black Girls Rock Awards. Lily Allen's Louise Vuitton sweater/poncho looked chic teamed with black tights and a red handbag at London Fashion Week last month. Janelle Monáe's cape-on-stage ritual — here she is at Keep A Child Alive's annual gala on Sept. 30 — is an ode to one of her idols, James Brown, she says. Want a cape yourself? See below for some great cape ideas.

I love these two as a couple. What a festive way to celebrate two important events in their life. Mariah looks like a dream.
