Emerging from a giant pink space ship, Nicki Minaj descended onto the American Idol stage last night to perform her upcoming single "Starships" in cascading blonde curls, starfish earrings, and a rainbow bright mullet skirt. Conjuring an image of both an undersea confection and the actual Rainbow Brite cartoon character from the '80s. It was a mish-mash of themes that seemed to reference both space travel and a maniacal beach rave. Even though Nicki M's video has yet to make landfall (heh), we do know that it will include neon hair and a pink bikini thanks to numerous paparazzi shots of her writhing around the beaches of Hawaii.

Our fashion prayers have been answered! Andre Leon Talley, aka contributing editor of American Vogue, former judge on America's Next Top Model, front row bon vivant, and general purveyor of all that is fash-witty and awesome, is getting his own Bravo show. Tentatively titled Fashion Stories of NYC, the show will center around Andre as a mentor to four up-and-coming fashion design teams who need that extra push to create, show, and sell their lines. Although it sounds like a familiar formula, we have high hopes that with ALT on board, it will be something else entirely.
AnnaSophia on set for "The Carrie Diaries."
You guys, The Carrie Diaries have started filming! Since the first peep of a Sex and the City prequel, we've been anxiously anticipating any and ALL forthcoming details about the production. Mostly because of the colossal shoes left to fill by the SATC empire. From rainy Saturday marathons of our DVD box sets, to catching up with Candace Bushnell's book, to fantasy casting the would-be mini-versions of the show's fashion icons, we are SO AMPED for the show to hit The CW, and snaps of baby Carrie, AnnaSophia Robb, in full hair and makeup mean we're THAT much closer!
That's it! Season 5 of our beloved fist-pumping, boardwalk dominating Jersey Shore is officially over, and what a season it was. From hair-raising drama with Deena to hard-hitting lessons with Pauly D, this fifth season at Seaside Heights has been equal parts entertaining and educational. Nowhere was this more true than in the style department, and this last episode took the cast out in one gigantic Snookilicious leopard print bang. Thus, we're spotlighting the sign-off ep's top 5 style moments. Here we go!
5. VINNY'S TOO-TIGHT TEE
Vinny wears a too-tight tee on the season finale of "Jersey Shore."
Getting ready for one of the roommates' last nights out, Vinny polls the house for some style advice. Fortunately (or unfortunately depending on how you look at it) for Vin, the Shore House loves fierce like family and doesn't intend to let their dude go out looking like a fool. Bestie Pauly D says, "Bro, that t-shirt's screaming, 'I. Don't. Fit. You.'" While Ronnie stands on the steps chuckling, Deena chimes in, "Where'd you get that? BabyGap?" Ouch. But think about how difficult spitting game at the club would have been if they let him out like that.
The Jersey Shore girls set up their tent.
On this week's episode of Jersey Shore, the roommates all go CAMPING! Well, all but Vinny and Pauly who opts out, claiming to be against the whole "no mirror, no bathroom, can't do my blowout" aspect of camping. Perhaps the rest of the roommates were just less aware of how stripped an experience camping can be, but they braved the wilderness and their extraction from the world of styling irons and GTL nonetheless. So how exactly do the Seaside Heights mainstays ready themselves for a *achem* low maintenance night under the stars?
Vinny's outfit gets clowned.
Amidst a sea of exemplary graphic tees, it seems Vinny really does have a collared shirt stowed away in his Jersey Shore closet for a blue moon. Ever the style envelope-pusher, though, Vinny's is no standard button-up. What our man V is rocking here is a short-sleeved plaid shirt with contrast denim details on the shoulders, placket, collar, and hems. Also, there appear to be copper/brass buttons, very rustic Americana chic. Pairing the shirt with cuffed gray-washed jeans and laceless low-top Chucks, Vin kinda looks more appropriately decked out for a Fourth of July barbecue than a night at Karma.
Last night's episode of Gossip Girl centers around two high-stakes plot lines: CeCe's (Caroline Lagerfelt) untimely passing and the ever-evolving Blair (Leighton Meester) + Dan (Penn Badgley) + Chuck (Ed Westwick) love triangle. Serena (Blake Lively) attempts to reach out to her new found cousin, Lola (Ella Rae Peck), by convincing Nate (Chace Crawford) to work his pretty boy charms and get her to spend more time with her relatives. First family affair? CeCe's wake, of course! Though the revelation of Ivy Dickens's (Kaylee DeFer) true identity is still fresh with the Rhodes family, she braves CeCe's wake (accompanied by Georgina (Michelle Trachtenberg) in tow) by personal request of the woman herself.
A possible loophole in Blair and Prince Louis of Monaco's (Hugo Becker) ironclad prenup leads to a lot of back-and-forth, hasty moves, and a classic net of Georgina scheming. Serena's dad, William Van Der Woodsen (Billy Baldwin), reemerges with CeCe's will in tow because (SURPRISE!) he's Madame Rhodes's executor. The episode is a suuuuper juicy one (and it better be if we have to wait a whole MONTH until the next ep), so if you haven't caught up yet, we won't spoil the rest for you. Snooki (as Lola) hits the club.
It's pretty much expected for the Jersey Shore cast members to be at the forefront of club fashion. I mean, they're professional boardwalk party hoppers at this point (with a little Shore Store during daylight hours), so they're able to spot fresh emerging trends before most anyone else. THIS little *pointer finger circle motion* ensemble, though, might be a little avant-garde for us. At least for right now. Yes, ladies and gents, that is the one and only Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi clad in a full-on fuzzy bunny suit at Karma.
We've seen Katy Perry transform into an ethereal alien, a pink-haired mermaid, and even a brace-faced tween, but we have never seen Katy look like this. The singer tweeted a pic of her and real-life BFF Shannon Woodward on the TV show Raising Hope, in which Katy guest stars as a prison attendant, according to EW. The episode, called "Single White Female," will air March 6, but we NEED to discuss this ensemble right now. Katy ditched her straight, glam blue 'do and sultry cat eyeliner for an orange '80s perm, no makeup, and ill-fitting prison uniform. If you look really close, you can see Katy took her her small-screen debut to the extreme by sporting a little hair above her lip. We barely even recognized Katy in this still shot, so we give her major props for going all out in her character transformation.
We can't think of a better way to top off the long weekend post-Fashion Week than with a brand-new episode of Gossip Girl. Somehow Blair (Leighton Meester) is still in Manhattan despite her binding sham marriage to Prince Louis (Hugo Becker), with B's royal handler a mere footnote this week than an actual presence. The sting from last episode's Georgina (Michelle Trachtenberg) instigated smooch between Dan (Penn Badgley) and Blair is still fresh, and for no two is that more painfully true than Serena (Blake Lively) and Chuck (Ed Westwick). While Serena licks her wounds, Chuck turns to classic scheming to enact his revenge, zeroing in on Lonely Boy and his impending second book deal.
While everyone else on the Upper East Side is nursing their various heartaches, Nate (Chace Crawford) is pursuing a blossoming relationship of his own with the real Charlie Rhodes (Ella Rae Peck) aka Lola. But after her run-in with that otherCharlie (Kaylee DeFer), she's starting to feel a little uneasy about the world she's venturing into. The Charlie vs. Charlie drama continues to mount as the girls become frighteningly more aware of each other, but if you haven't caught up yet, we won't spoil the rest for you. Check back here weekly for our fashion recap!
