Denim is one of the most versatile fabrics in our closet. It can be worn so many ways! Pants. Tops. Jackets. Purses. We've even seen denim shoes. That's why we headed up to Columbia University in New York to see what kind of denim you're wearing right now. There, we met Charlotte and Megan, who both like skinny jeans, and Saschia, a French student who wore a light, loose denim top. Also an economics student named Kendi said she owns over 50 pairs (!!!) because they can be worn so many different ways. Watch the video below to see all of their styles, and many more.

Sunglasses are a wardrobe must-have. Our favorites are oversize circle ones big enough to hide tired bags under our eyes, Olsen-style. But there are so many different ways to shade your eyes from UV rays! That's why we took to the streets of New York's fashionable Soho neighborhood to find out your favorite shady styles for our latest Show Us Your Style video. There, we caught up with Emma in a Marc by Marc Jacobs pair (which she bought to match her outfit), and Denise in an adorable look by RetroSuperFuture. We also met Tabia, who showed off her cool blue spaceman-looking glasses. "When I buy sunglasses, I look for something others don't have," she told us. Watch the video below for their shades and more amazing styles.

+ How many sunglasses do you own? We'll confess our number — 7!

This week, MTV named its first-ever "TJ" (official MTV Twitter correspondent) and it's Gabi Gregg! The 23-year-old Detroit native and Chicago resident won the contest, which grants her a $100,000 salary and a one-year contract at MTV. But we're into her for more than her creative texting skills. She's got major fashion street cred, too, as founder of the blog Young, Fat, and Fabulous, which focuses on plus-size fashion (she was even featured in Italian Vogue!). So, we caught up with the social-networking lover today, and she told us how Twitter inspires her style, her love for Kim Kardashian, and she can't wait to hit the sample sales after she lands in New York next week. She also wants to spend 20 percent of her paycheck on clothes, which puts her at a $20,000 shopping budget. WOW. We are officially jealous! Check out more of her fashion secrets below.

+ Welcome to the MTV fashion family, Gabi! May you make the MTV headquarters more fabulous every day. Follow her official Twitter @mtvtj!

When the touring summer festival Hardfest made its way to New York recently, we were psyched for the lineup. Die Antwoord, Sleigh Bells, Ninjasonik, Theophilus London, and Rye Rye were all slated to perform, and M.I.A. was the headliner for the whole thing. This hipster-rave bonanza was bound to have amazing concertgoer fashion, so we stopped by to check it out, and we were mighty impressed with all of the M.I.A.-inspired outfits. One of our favorites was Rebecca from Queens, who bought her her zipper mini-dress just to go to the concert. She also wore strands of bright silver necklaces, which she says are "totally M.I.A. because she goes for shine and pizazz and all of that." And that's not all! Watch the video for more Hard NYC fashion and M.I.A.-inspired style, including some amazing D-I-Y looks, crazy tops, and press-on tattoos straight from India.

With trends being so fluid — one year espadrilles are in, and the next they're collecting dust in your closet — we wanted to find out how you shop for trendy items. So, we hit up the eclectic crowd huddled in Times Square for our latest installment of Show Us Your Style to find out. There we met Isabella from Great Britain, who told us: "I like affordable fashion because everybody deserves to look good." WE SECOND THAT, as does Julianna from Florida, who said that when she shops she "looks for affordability and style" at places like Forever 21 and Charlotte Russe. And Ariel of Queens, New York told us that she shops for things that make her feel comfortable, which she usually finds at Express and H&M. As for spending money, she said: "I don't have a price range, as long as I have enough money for it, hey, why not?" Yes, WHY NOT. Shop away, people!

Button-downs aren’t just for the boys. This week, we scoured the fashion blogs to find ladies who demonstrated how to make menswear-inspired tops totally chick-friendly. Here are our top three favorite looks:

1. Karla Deras of Karla's Closet; karlascloset.blogspot.com, @karla_deras.
Pixie-cut sporting Karla Deras played with shapes and colors, mixing a bold blue square patterned silk shirt with a super short mini. Everything is coordinated to match, including the shades, the shoes, and the scarf attached to her black tote. Thoughtfulness at its best!

2. Megan Stewart of Another Day To Dress Up; anotherdaytodressup.blogspot.com.
California-based Megan Stewart paired her black leaf printed button-down with a long vintage Valentino skirt, chunky brown sandals, and a black knit hat. The shirt’s hint of bright orange and outdoorsy print make this a great transition piece to wear from summer to fall.

3. Sarah Boram of The Stylish Heart; thestylishheart.blogspot.com.
This British blogger tucked a Topshop dress into ripped jean shorts to create a menswear button-down shirt effect. We love the details on this top, like the polka dots and dainty round black buttons.

+ Which is your favorite look? Do you wear button-downs like these ladies?
