Happy July, y'all! Whether you've already gotten a head-start on your Independence Day festivities or you're about to embark on your star-spangled holiday soon, let Selena Gomez and her summer-ready snapshots be a style inspiration to us all. The screen starlette turned pop star turned celebrity designer modeled a nautical striped swimsuit and a pair of heart-shaped tortoiseshell sunnies from her summer Dream Out Loud collection for KMart. The sun-kissed look was perfectly complemented by her newly auburn ombre hair and minimal makeup. But her sartorial side project isn't the only thing Selena shared this weekend! *rubs hands together menacingly*

Miley Cyrus is making it easier than ever to cop to her street savvy style! The recently-engaged singer stepped out in a super cool summery ensemble that we wanted to get our hands on IMMEDIATELY. Lucky for us, we found out where to buy her effortlessly-cool look for under $100. (Don't worry, you can thank us later.) Her sheer, over-sized yellow sweater from Forever 21 is currently on sale for $8.99. We repeat: MILEY'S SWEATER COSTS LESS THAN 10 BUCKS. She tucked her comfy top into a pair of shredded black jean studded shorts, which we LOVE. She purchased these bad boys from Urban Outfitters for $79, and we think it's totally worth dropping the extra dollars on this wardrobe staple. I mean, what won't these shorts go with? *crickets* Exaccctttly.
Lady Gaga arrives in Melbourne, Australia, and Steven Tyler performs in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Far be it from us to suggest that Lady Gaga is swagger-jacking Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler. We're just saying, postulating rather, that perhaps Mother Monster has been catching up on episodes of American Idol while resting up after her Born This Way Ball concussion, and all those guest performances had a sartorial influence on the pop star. We can't shake how visibly inspired her Melbourne arrival togs appear to be. Crazier things have happened, right?
It was hard to get a good look at Tavi Gevinson and Iris Apfel through the hoard of admirers that swarmed them after their talk at The Met.

"Personal style is curiosity about yourself," was the motto at Sunday's "Good Taste/Bad Taste: The Evolution of Contemporary Chic" discussion at the Costume Institute at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Fashion icon Iris Apfel was the first to use the quote, but once it had been said it was like the other participants, Rookie Mag's Tavi Gevinson and The New Yorker's Judith Thurman, couldn't help but keep coming back to it. It was fascinating to watch these two women- the 16 year old website editor and the 90 year old style star- going back and forth about what it means to be stylish, what it means to put together an outfit, and what the roll of clothing can and should play in a woman's life. While Tavi likens good fashion to good performance art, Iris insists that clothing should fit well, be practical, and not create too many barriers between a person and the world. Apfel was insistent that "clothing shouldn't be the most important part of your life," and both women admitted that when they're at home working, they change into more comfy garb. "The second I get home from school at 3 PM I put on Pajamas," Tavi said, and laughed, maybe a little bashful. Apfel agreed, saying that she can only work when she's in blue jeans.

If there's one wardrobe staple you're going to need this summer, it's sunglasses. But with all the stylish sunnies out there, how do you CHOOSE? Well, we know one thing's for sure—round glasses are going to be bigger than ever this year (we mean that literally AND figuratively), so we think that's the perfect place to start. Whether you go '60s mod or '80s glam, there's a set of circular sunglasses sure to fit your style. We perused the internet for three bloggers who showed us how to wear round sunnies in totally different (but equally awesome) ways, so check out the deets of their too-cool-for-school ensembles below!
Alice Glass in June/July's BULLETT.

HOLD UP. Is that Alice Glass splashed across the glossy pages of BULLETT? A.K.A. the ultimate cool girl- so cool that she even shunned the title when NME bestowed it upon her back in 2008? Yep, the 23-year-old singer has unexpectedly gone high fashion, and you’ve gotta see it to believe it. We might’ve needed a double take, but it’s definitely the Crystal Castles frontwoman showing off a seriously chic side in the new 'Sin Issue' of the style magazine. The jaw-dropping spread, styled by Jessica Bobince, is appropriately dubbed “Grrrl Interrupted” and features Glass decked out in chiffon dresses, major makeup (helloo purple lips!) and even a wedding veil.
Best Coast and Wavves cuddle up on the cover of Spin.

Is there anything better than a summer romance? Weekend beach trips, laying in the sand giggling over popsicles, holding hands in the waves, riding bikes around the city at night...oh wait, what was I saying? But seriously, summer love is awesome, and judging from the amount of picnic blanket canoodling we saw in the park this weekend, the season is ON. Of course who better to represent warm weather happiness than our favorite California power couple, Best Coast's Bethany Cosentino and Wavves' Nathan Williams? The two lovebirds are gracing the cover of Spin's July/August "Go Outside" Issue, and not only are they totally adorable, but they have killer style to match. The spread, which captures the real-life couple hiking one of their hometown of Los Angeles' many canyons, was photographed by Dan Martensen. When we say hiking, though, we don't really mean hiking. No short shorts and clunky boots for these two- Beth and Nate take to the hills in far more fabulous and flirty garb, and not only can you drool over it, but we have some pieces that you can actually buy to have it for yourself. An outfit to wear on your next outdoorsy date, sure to make the mercury rise even higher? Yes, please.
Photo: Tavi Gevinson and Iris Apfel will host "Good Taste/Bad Taste" this weekend.
Good style doesn't have an age requirement- or an age limit, for that matter- and here's proof: two of the coolest minds in the biz, Rookie Mag's Tavi Gevinson and fashion icon Iris Apfel, will hold a discussion this weekend at New York's Metropolitan Museum titled “Good
Taste/Bad Taste: The Evolution of Contemporary Chic." Could there BE a more perfect topic for these two to hash out? We definitely don't think so. Even though she's only 15, Tavi's been in the fashion industry for what seems like forever, ever since starting her blog The Style Rookie at age 11. And although she's focusing more of her attention on her new online magazine (and high school, NBD), the Illinois teenager has still been busy making her voice heard online and in person, whether it's appearing in fashion films, starring in Uniqlo ads, or popping up at Fashion Week. Despite her 70-plus year age difference with Iris, this odd couple has more in common than you'd think.
Rita Ora wears skullcap by The Hundreds; jacket by Moschino, vintage; silk crop top by Pavonine; shorts by Joy Rich; custom shoes by Bess NYC; necklaces and watch are Rita's own; bangle by Laruicci; double ring by Materia Prima.

In the 10-plus years that I’ve been working with musicians, nothing beats that crackle of atmospheric electricity when an artist is about to blow up. You can feel it. Rita Ora is poised for something major. She’s already a sure thing in the U.K. where she’s had two #1 hits in “R.I.P.” and "Hot Right Now," a track she's featured on with DJ Fresh, but what with being our Push Artist of the Week and Jay-Z spouting glowing things about her energy and talent it looks like this vivacious Londoner (by way of Kosovo) will be unstoppable here, too.
You can imagine how psyched we were when she accepted our invitation to play dress up for a fashion editorial and video because she’s totally normal to hang out with and gives great face. Plus, maybe has the BEST hair. Never mind that she commemorated her visit stateside with $100 bill nails courtesy of Rebecca Black in London.

Last week we asked everyone to show us the coolest ways you wear your hats, and boy, did you deliver! From fedoras to floppy felt ones to even a furry number, you guys showed us the best ways to literally top off your outfits. These insta-accessories serve as sun protectors, a potential disguise (hey, you never know who you're going to run into...) and are undoubtedly the easiest way to spice up an otherwise boring wardrobe. They've been all over the catwalks the past few seasons, but you definitely don't have to go all-out with oversized toppers a la Louis Vuitton FW12 or commit to the crazy floral hoods that stomped down the runway at Dolce and Gabbana in order to get in on the trend. Whether you decide to pair yours with a sundress, a miniskirt, or just blue jeans, these girls will teach you how put a lid on it.
