Alicia Keys at her 2012 VMA rehearsal in LA.

OK, you know how you suspect that Alicia Keys’s IRL voice would be bonkers because, um, hi, it’s Alicia Keys? Well, I got to witness her rehearsal and I can confirm with solemn conviction and super-bugged eyes that GIRL ON FIRE. Seriously. I’d seen Ms. Keys perform at various events but there’s something about the absence of an entire cheering audience that makes her voice fill a room. Mind you, the room in question is the monstrous Staples Center, so this is no small task. Wearing speckled sunglasses, a rope chain flooded with small gems, with slicked back hair and a black tank, Alicia pounded on the keyboard with stunning aplomb that showcased a spectacular gun show. As in, HAVE YOU SEEN HER ARMS LATELY? They are seriously sculpted.

Full disclosure: we're total commitment-phobes. And no, we're not talking about relationships. Instead, we're feeling some serious indecision toward our closets- and more specifically, our skirts. Short, long, mini, maxi...we just CAN'T make up our minds. But luckily we don't have to! Designers are reaching some easy middle ground with the new shipment of midi skirts hitting stores and the runway, just in time for the cooler weather. With a cut that skims the calf, these breezy bottoms are just as flattering as they are versatile. So if you're not fully ready to go long or short (or just want to switch it up a bit), these midis are the perfect medium. Get proof of all the zillions of ways to rock them from our top bloggers below!
A still from Psy's "Gangnam Style" music video.
Photo: Courtesy of YG Entertainment
If you've never heard of "Gangnam Style," the K-Pop video by the artist PSY (pronounced like the first syllable of 'psycho' not spelled out like, 'pee ess why') that's DOMINATED Youtube with 74 million views and is currently sitting pretty atop the iTunes charts, you should seriously reconsider your priorities (helpful hint: stop reading so many books! JKJKJK). Anyway, it's a great, noisy, catchy song that features a fun, giddyup dance sequence that's as easily mimicked as the Dougie or the Chicken Noodle Soup. Just go watch it and then read this thing in the Atlantic about its "subversive" themes that soooooorta treats the prospect of a pop song containing a meaningful social message as if Maru the box-jumping cat solved cold fusion. But I digress...
Long story short, there's a lot going on in this video that everyone from CNN to Gawker has covered regarding this "underground rapper" < -- (LOL meanwhile, this is PSY's 6th studio album) so all I want to talk about is the FASHION. Especially since "Gangnam Style" refers to a tiny neighborhood in Korea that prides itself on its bougie boutiques and pretty people. Obviously dude is label mates with 2NE1 and Big Bang on YG because he is DECKED OUT. It's also no surprise that Justin Bieber's team is interested in this middle-aged, South Korean superstar because MAN would those two look cute together. I smell a duet! (...And it smells like kimchi etc etc...)
Ke$ha in West Hollywood on Aug. 28.
Photo: Splash News
Ke$ha, girl, is that you? It feels like we haven't spotted the pop singer out and about in ages, and we barely even recognized her in West Hollywood yesterday! She debuted a freshly-dyed platinum blonde 'do and shorter waves paired with bright red lipstick and aviator sunglasses. We're used to seeing her sun-kissed streaks mixed in with shades of brown and gold, but she went all-out Marilyn Monroe with her new white-blonde color. Also, it looks like her Skrillex-inspired haircut is beginning to grow out into a girlier, tousled 'do. We ain't mad at that!
Sleigh Bells' "End Of The Line" video.
Photo: Mom and Pop Records
For about four minutes this morning we forgot it was Monday. That's because Sleigh Bells decided to drop the video for their new single "End Of The Line" upon the world, and we got to briefly stop what we were doing in favor of a mellowed-out dance party (highly recommended!). Now that that's over with, though, it's back to business- otherwise known as breaking down each and every one of Alexis Krauss and Derek Miller's ridiculously awesome outfits in the clip. After watching the video an embarassing number of times already, we've spotted a couple of cases of sartorial deja-vu (Sleigh Bells signatures like Ray Ban wayfayer sunglasses, studded jackets, and sick nail art). But leave it to Derek and Alexis to shake things up this time with gorgeous scenery, cinematic wide shots, and surprisingly moody vibe.
Is this Chanel neckpiece a necklace or a collar? Either way, Emma Stone looks awesome.
Photo: Interview Magazine
Is there any magazine Emma Stone hasn't been in this summer? From sharing shoots with her on and off-screen love Andrew Garfield to covers shot solo (on Vogue, no less), the actress, who is without a doubt one of our all time faves on screen, is also one of our favorites on the page. In her latest spread, for Interview, Emma takes a break from rocking spotless couture and cute fall basics to get a little futuristic on us. Sporting a stunning Chanel necklace (when does a necklace become a collar, we wonder), and lit in moody magentas, Stone looks every bit a warrior, and there's hardly a hint of her usual style. Not that we didn't already think Emma was a badass, but we never imagined her glaring at us with a smokey eye and a look for which 'smoldering' is an understatement. Paired with a slick blonde pompadour and a gaggle of hot dudes in sunglasses, this is a future we'd be more than happy to live in.
DJ Lindsay Luv.

LA-based DJ-to-the-stars Lindsay Luv is a CA-UTIE, and I’m not just talking about her adorbs DJ name. I’m talking about drooling over her penchant for a good smokey eye, blood-red lips, and major '90s towering platforms. And not just any platforms, you guys—she OWNS a pair of Scary Spice’s signed platforms (above). (When I found out she’s BFFs with Mel B, I ugly cried a little and seriously stanned out a.k.a. collapsed, got on my knees begging whilst throwing wads of cash at Luv before revealing my deep dark secret [see: my 11-year-old “job” as the founder of the Spice Gazette circa ‘97 AOL A/S/L chatroom days, which folded after experiencing post-Ginger Spice depression and discovering Britney Spears.] *sigh*) Well, Luv unfortunately wouldn’t budge on those leopard-patterned beauties, so I settled for interviewing her for Favorite Things. Spoiler alert: You’re gonna luv it (heh), particularly those Chanel gold mesh fingerless gloves and her Lady Gaga signed album LP. #killmenow Time to spice up your closets, y’all.
Nanette Lepore's debut style of sunglasses.
Photo: Nanette Lepore's Twitter
We love Emma Roberts. We love Nanette Lepore. So what happens when two of our favorite people combine? Just take a look at the sketch of these amazing sunglasses above, and you'll see that it's a total match made in creative heaven (seriously, Cupid would be jealous he didn't think of it first!). Yep, Nanette Lepore- known and beloved for flirty, girly dresses- has just crafted her first style of sunglasses inspired by none other than Emma herself. The pair of cat-eye frames is the latest addition to the VOGUE Eyewear Designer Series, and is inspired by retro Twenties glamour with a modern twist. As Nanette tells WWD of her 21-year-old actress muse, “She’s chic, youthful and confident in her style." Considering Emma's ability to switch from rocker to Old Hollywood to uber-trendy at the drop of a hat, who's going to argue with that?
Preston Chaunsumlit of Model Files.

I have a fashion-y feeling that Preston Chaunsumlit is one of a handful of human beings who could make Anna Wintour crack a genuine smile. FYI: Preston is the hottie host of V Files' faint-inducing hiiiigh-larious series, Model Files. Highlights include Preston's high fashion version of Toddlers in Tiaras via baby street-casting ("Do you think she could lose maybe like a few ounces by Friday?") and, my new favorite sport, model yoga ("it's like, model fight club"), in which the instructor's advice includes "lift like your tallest high-heel you've ever worn", "find your couture!" and, duh, smizeing. I really just CANNOT with Preston's uber dry sense of humor (AKA subtle sass). And I kind of really wanna get my fingers lost in his sea of raven-black/sometimes-lavender silky locks. *Swoon* As expected, Preston's fave fashion-y things are chic, unique and very funny. (see: an affinity for Biore strips/Chinese immigrants and vintage Scott Baio as style icons). Warning: somes responses might be not so safe for tweens. (#NSFT) Someone get this guy a Fashion’s Night Out stand-up gig, ASAP. (Can you even imagine?) Anyway, big fashion ups for lightening up our pre-Fashion Week caffeinated jitters, Preston. Now back to my Monday morning Model Files marathon K-hole…*J’DEAD*
Rihanna in Tokyo.

Maybe it's the lingering shopping high from stalking Beyonce's amazing road trip outfits earlier this week, but not lying- we've got travel on the brain. So blame it on this newfound wanderlust, but once we spotted Rihanna looking absolutely killer walking through the Tokyo airport yesterday, we HAD to find out where to cop her streetwear-heavy travel look. Luckily, thanks to our internet sleuthing skills and speedy fingers, we've tracked down Riri's amazing t-shirt, jacket, sneakers and even sunglasses faster than you can say "boarding pass." Now the hard part? Deciding where to go on our next vacation. In the meantime, find out how to get Rihanna's outfit below!
