Whew, prom is almost HERE. We're sure you've got your checklist in order and have dutifully crossed dress, hairstyle, and tricked-out DIY nail art off your exhaustive list. What's left? ACCESSORIES. This is arguably the hardest part of the prom equation. (Clutch or crossbody purse? Headband or bow clip? Statement necklace or simple pendant? And what about rings, bracelets, and the corsage????) *deep breaths* Whether you're going for an edgy, glammed-up, or total fairy tale look, we've got your accessory game covered.
PUNK PROM PRINCESS

Not only is pink-punk edgy and feminine, it has no rules. It's all about throwing together a motley crew of spikes, skull, grommets, studs, and whatever your rock and roll heart desires. Just make sure to turn the music UP when you're getting ready and don't be afraid to share these accessories with a frothy retro dress and beat up Converse. We'd start with an ASOS Skull & Dipped Spike Collar Necklace which goes with just about anything bare-necked or strapless. Pair it with some Tarina Tarantino Ivorette Lucite Skull Drop Earrings which are just sparkly enough without going overboard. To lighten the mood, we'd add a Suede Effect Spike Headband and throw jars of eye glitter, dark crimson lipstick, liquid eyeliner, and our best punk tunes (for hijacking the DJ booth) in this Topshop Metallic Asymmetric Clutch which can also be worn cross-body style. Instead of a corsage, pay tribute to The Misfits with this mini Misfits Ghost Lapel Pin affixed to the bodice of your dress. Stack some bracelets such as this ASOS Rubber Spike Bracelet (which won't hurt people when you hurl yourself around the dance floor), and don't forget to tip your sparkly black mani out in an ASOS Triple Spike Ring. #RAWK! Need more ideas? Right this way!
Ke$ha for "V" Magazine.
Photo: Inez & Vinoodh for V Magazine
V Magazine's latest issue (hitting shelves May 10) aims to celebrate all things Americana. Rather than poster up a girl-next-door for their cover (say a smiley-eyed Blake Lively type), V shows the world exactly where they're going with this theme with a different American cover girl: Ke$ha. Her glitter-meets-garbage personal steez is reinterpreted as a full-face of star-spangled banner, stars and stripes waving from ear to ear, and the flag + nose ring + blonde curls + shaved Skrillex patch is enough to start "Sweet Home Alabama" playing on repeat in your brain for the next three hours. It's an atypical choice but a totally warranted one.
Since prom is basically the ONLY occasion in our lives that calls for super dressed-up gowns (well, minus our wedding day *crosses fingers*), it means we can FINALLY cop all those drool-worthy red carpet looks that we've been fawning over all year long. Just think—their stylists get paid the big bucks to dish out the top celebs' most killer looks, so why not take a cue from the best in the biz? We gathered some of our favorite awards show ensembles and found an affordable option for all our fashion-forward girls. I know, I know, we're sooooo nice. You can thank us later.
SELENA GOMEZ'S SPARKLY MERMAID DRESS

We loveloveLOVED Selena Gomez's super glam Oscar party look because it's body-conscious but classy. We tried to match the intricate metallic bead work on her Dolce & Gabbana mermaid dress with an allover silver sequin dress from Bloomingdale's. The Lauren by Ralph Lauren gown ($270) silhouette is SO dead that you could even sport the same vintage-y faux bob and call it a night! To finish the look, grab a studded clutch and call it a night. We particularly like this embellished linen wristlet ($70) from Bebe!
Lea Michele, Shay Mitchell, and Chelsea Kane wear little white dresses.

Forget whatever you think you know about little black dresses. As temperatures climb and hems rise, spring is all about the LWD (little white dress), and in just one evening, Lea Michele, Shay Mitchell, and Chelsea Kane sported three different iterations of the crisp warm-weather trend at last night's Academy screening of Glee and the ABC Family West Coast upfront.
As far as we know, Michelle Williams and Busy Philipps have never attended a prom together, but this is what it might have looked like if they did.

It's prom week, and there are so many things to think about, from the perfect dress to the perfect date and sparkly accessories, and so we enlisted the help of our besties at HelloGiggles to share their infinite wisdom with us. Site co-founder Sophia Rossi is an expert BFF, so we asked her to write about the most important accessory you might have forgotten--your BFF.
Prom is just around the corner and I'm sure you're all wondering what this thirty-something year old inner tween thinks about prom, right? Prom is one the most important nights in a teenager's life and Hellogiggles wants you to know that you have our support. Your biggest support system, always, should come from your BFF (we are willing to act as your BFF now). I will tell you my three basic tips because I tend to be bossy yet informative at all times. Also, I went to prom with my best guy friend and it was truly the best experience ever, but enough about me..
Queen of beauty extremes Katy Perry will never say die when it comes to a radical new look, so it's no surprise that she's taken 3-D nails to the extreme(-ly awesome) with her latest mani. In a photo posted on her Twitter, Perry shows off her botanical talons, which pump up a beige, neon, and pastel nail with pop-up red and pink roses. Not to be outdone, the look also wraps around Perry's fingers, making her photo-accompanying caption, "my fingers are in FULL bloom today," nowhere near an understatement. Get a closer look after the jump!
Justin Bieber has been promoting the living daylights out of his "Boyfriend" music video, but just because the premiere of the toe-curlingly handsy short is swiftly approaching (this Thursday a.k.a. TOMORROW!!!!!!), doesn't mean his work is almost done. Nope, The Biebs still has an entire album to release and promote. Reminding the public that there's an entire record of new Justin hits in store for the world come June 19, Justin is crowdsourcing which of these three t-shirt designs should be part of the "Believe" pre-order package. A bold move to which we say, "OooOoOoOhhh, POWER."
Shailene Woodley for ASOS Magazine.

Chilling out in a denim shirt, lace hot pants, and a pair of retro roller-skates, Shailene Woodley looks super SoCal cool on the June cover of ASOS magazine. The TV-turned-film actress, who can still be seen regularly on The Secret Life of the American Teenager, has been having quite the year. Remember that elegant white Valentino gown she wore to the Oscars or those mega controversial Vibram Five Finger shoes she wore with a glam black gown? Yeah, Shai-Wood has made some SERIOUS fashion news this year, which is refreshing in the seen-it-all-before world of awards season. Miss Woodley continues to stand out on the red carpet as she does for ASOS mag, where she opens up about her low-key beauty regime, passion for film, and dreams of playing rock legend and enduring style slayer Patti Smith.
So, you've sorted out your nail designs, got your hair game figured out, and even found some apps to help you get ready for THE prom night, but now comes the hard part—the dress! Whether you're looking for something long and glamorous or short and spunky, we've got something perfect no matter what budget you're working with. Check out our under $100, under $250, and above $250 options below!
Don't fret if you're allowance is a little tight—it won't stop you from finding your dream dress! If you want ALL eyes on you, go for the Way-In '80s-inspired teal sequin one-shoulder mini ($68). We love the giant bow on the shoulder, and, I mean, how can you NOT have fun at prom in this? For a more vintage-y vibe, opt for the black and beige Trixxi Retro sequin gown ($88). Above the sweetheart bodice is a shimmering nude neck for added drama. Take a cue from the model and go for retro curls too! If you're feeling super girly, go for the flared Little Mistress floral jacquard silver and white prom dress with a sequin belt ($90). Add a bright red platforms, and BAM! You'll put all the other girls (and guys) on the dance floor to shame.
Could Agyness Deyn get any cuter? It's really ridiculous. If you have any doubts about the white haired model's complete and utter adorability, look no further than Rebecca Minkoff's new spring/summer2012 viral video. Featuring Agyness full of smiles, dancing around in the hazy summer sun, the clip is a perfect compliment to the collection, which mixes neon accessories, sheer maxi dresses, bright prints and crop tops. We're putting that blazer on our wish list immediately, and would kill for those lace-up high-top leather espadrilles (my birthday is in August, if you're taking notes). Agyness twirls and hops and wiggles along to a new track from Blaqstarr's upcoming album Here We Are, which is coming out in the fall. The song, called "She is Love," has warm weather hit written all over it, with a hand-clap beat, shimmery keyboards and a chorus that get’s stuck in your head on the very first listen.
