By now we've already figured out how to master the maxi skirt and the midi skirt, but how about the mullet skirt? It's what we lovingly call the high-in-front-low-in-back maxi that we've been obsessing over. It's perfect for summer and winter simultaneously (just throw a pair of black tights on underneath!) and never fails to transform any outfit into an elegant ensemble. We scoured the internets and found three fashion bloggers who rocked mullet maxis in the most cop-worthy of ways. And don't worry, no actual mullets will make an appearance in this post. Carry on!

Lana Del Rey's An All-Beige Beauty For 'Complex'

There's something incredibly hypnotizing (and perhaps even debilitating) about Lana Del Rey's flawless beauty game. I mean, with big doe eyes like those and pillowy lips like that, it seems like an easy feat to play up her already-gorgeous features. But in the February/March 2012 issue of Complex, Lana stayed true to her retro roots by wearing simple '60s makeup staples—cat eye liquid liner, full fake lashes, thick dark brows, and a nude lip. In her 1950s movie poster-inspired cover shoot by Glynis Selina Arban, she looked absolutely GORGE amidst a rainstorm in a sheer Betsey Johnson Peter Pan collar trench over a vintage corset. Her thick, barrel-curled locks stayed in tact (um, if her hair doesn't frizz in 100% humidity we're officially giving up on life), and her barely-visible stiletto nails peek out from behind her hand to reveal red and gold painted tips. And, since she's the self-proclaimed "gangster Nancy Sinatra," her outfit wouldn't be complete without a two-finger ring AND some giant hoop earrings.

Dakota Fanning Debuts Pink Ombre Hair!

Just when we were baaarely getting over the excitement of Selena Gomez's freshly dyed blue ombre 'do, we spotted Dakota Fanning with brand-new pink tips in Beverly Hills yesterday! *GASP* We are so excited. Let the parental freak out commence—unnatural ombre hues are OFFICIALLY becoming a trend. Dakota dip-dyed her blonde locks a shade of watermelon pink, and dang! We love it. We like that she picked more of a pastel hue instead of a bright magenta—it's soft and girly just like Dakota. She paired her new hair with a crisp white button-up shirt, a pumpkin, beige, and brown pleated skirt, and black buckle booties. This is the first time Dakota has done anything super drastic with her hair. She has been rocking long, center-parted golden strands for as long as we can remember. (No, seriously, look at her in 2005 when she was just 11 years old. SAME. EXACT. HAIR.)

The Best Dressed Of The 2012 Golden Globes

The Hollywood Foreign Press' Golden Globe Awards is one of our favorite red carpet events of the year. Sure, there's the Oscars, the Grammys, and of course, our own Movie Awards and VMAs, but there's a spirited mix of glamour and richesse when it's not only the hottest names in film but in television as well. Plus, there's the heightened pressure of being the award ceremony RIGHT before the Academy Awards. We're sure that picking the 2012 Golden Globe Winners wasn't an easy task, but cutting down a list of the night's best dressed to our top 10 was a VERY SERIOUS challenge, too. After some HEATED debate and 11 pounds of sugar EACH (thank you, Momofuku cake truffles and Sour Patch children) in the Official MTV Style Situation Room, *wipes beads of sweat from sodden brow* we did it. Here we GO.

Dianna Agron in head-to-toe scarlet Giles Deacon may very well be our favorite look of the night. While wearing red on the red carpet is a risky move, this gown is genuinely a work of art and styled so expertly that Dianna more than pulls it off. She keeps her hair in a simple updo with bold red lips and minimizes jewelry to highlight the majestic laser-cut tiers and swans.

Katharine McPhee, Sarah Hyland, And Heidi Klum Go Nude For The 2012 Golden Globe Awards

If there was one overwhelming trend the 2012 Golden Globes had going on, it was a serious case of the pales. Did all the stylists get together and party-phone this trend into existence or was this merely a coincidence? You could call it a parade of champagne, a pallid paradise, or a nakie-nudie FANTASIA OF FLESH TONES, but most of the dresses we spied this year were decidedly wan in the color department. Still, the ladies looked lovely!

If you squint your eyes while looking at Katharine McPhee, she totally transforms into Birthday Suit Barbie. Wearing a strapless midi, tea-length Donna Karan dress embellished with leaf-shaped sparkles and matching sky-high stiletto plats, we think she looks DAZZLING and ready for her Smash TV show. Sarah Hyland's vintage, beige lace Dolce & Gabbana gown with a black lace trim at the waist may have suffered a zipper malfunction (which had her handlers pinning her back into it on the red carpet), but she carried herself like a lady through it all. Poise! Heidi Klum was all sorts of GORGE in a wispy nude Calvin Klein dress accentuated with turquoise panache courtesy of one MAYJAH necklace by Lorraine Schwartz. But we're just getting started...there was a whole carnival of cream up in there, too.

Top Style Bloggers Of The Week: Colorful Peacoats

OH MY GOD, IT'S FREEZING OUTSIDE. *shivers* We need a warm wool coat STAT. And you know what's affordable and cute when it comes to outwear? The peacoat! This no-nonsense look is in style every year (seriously, it is) and can be dressed up for going out but is still totally acceptable to wear to work. It's basically the coat that can do anything. BUT! We have a disclaimer: You can't buy a black peacoat. SORRIES. Unless you want to look like a Normy McNormison, don't. Buy. Black. You'll blend in with the sea of dark winter coats that take over the city streets, and you don't want that! Either go for a solid pop of color, contrasting piping, or color-blocked panels. Don't worry, you can thank us later when everyone compliments you on your look.

Douglas Booth Sports Turtleneck, Still Remains Hot

Gulp. Um, hi, Douglas Booth. *shyly waves* We're SO sorry to interrupt your diligent theater studies, but we really need to talk. The last time we spoke was more than a year ago, and boy, how things have changed since then. We spotted you in this week's issue of Mr. Porter, and we have to say that you're growing up into a fine, stylish young actor right before our very eyes. And, we know you're only 19, but DANG, you can really sport winterwear like no one we've ever seen. (We're not creepy, we swear!) In his first studious look, he sports a chunky knit beige Givenchy wool sweater over a J. Crew cotton tee paired with swept-back hair, perfectly trimmed stubble, and a pondering stare. (He's PROBABLY wondering, "Where have my MTV Style girls been all of 2011? Oh, how I miss them so!" NBD.)

Antsy for the holidays? Celebrations already in full swing (heyyyy Hanukkah!)? Yea. Us, too. And it looks like a few celebs can't hold it in any longer either. Whitney Port, X Factor UK's Misha B, and Chloe Sevigny were all spotted sporting festive kicks from glitter to bows to the bright holly red. So you may not have the no-ceiling budget of a celeb (let alone after the gift-giving season), but you can totally take these shoe trends and apply as they fit your wallet for all your merry-making needs.

Iris Apfel Talks About Her New MAC Makeup Collection, Makes Us Want Pink Pigeons And Party Parrots

Iris Apfel is one of fashion's most beloved icons. You could call her the grand dame of accessories, a rare bird of fashion (a term commonly used to describe her), an iconoclast, or simply the most stylish 90 year-old woman on the planet. We here at MTV Style call her our style hero, because even in her elder years, she continues to reinvent herself and embrace the new. She isn't afraid of color, bucks trends in favor of what she thinks is stylish, and is always up for layering multiple accessories no matter the shape or size.

Mrs. Apfel's everyday ensembles have been captured on blogs such as Ari Seth Cohen's site, Advanced Style (which, if haven't checked it out yet, is a MUST), and she recently collaborated on an accessories collection for HSN full of googly eye scarves and giant alligator bracelets. Did we mention that she also has a camera crew led by renowned cinematographer Albert Maysles following her around for a new documentary? She doesn't slow down! And now, thanks to MAC cosmetics, her sensational sense of color and style will be coming to beauty, too. We just peeped the new collection (which is full of vibrant colors with names like Pink Pigeon and Party Parrot), and asked Iris herself how it all flew into being.
