Sky Ferreira

Sky Ferreira for 'The New York Times.'
Photo: The New York Times

Sky Ferreira is as relatable as pop stars get. Case in point: Her latest single, “I Blame Myself” is all about owning up to your personal failures. The video premiered yesterday and is fully shoppable—you can check out every single thing Sky wears in the video. Sky recently sat down with the New York Times and pretty much confirmed that she’s someone who you want to be best friends with. The Bangerz Tour opener talked about everything from working with Miley to her many modeling stints and her debut album, Night Time, My Time. There are too many fascinating quotes to choose from, so we rounded up some of her best moments. Enjoy!

1.) Even pop stars have trouble affording Saint Laurent: “I have a 50 percent discount [on Saint Laurent] worldwide. It’s pretty expensive, though. On tour I have to use my business card for everything, like gas, but I also buy my clothes on it. I go there and it gets rejected, and I’m like, ‘Oh, my God, this is embarrassing.’ I didn’t tell them my name until she was like, ‘You’re Sky, you’re in the ads.’ And I said, ‘This isn’t working right now, I’ll come back in an hour. I swear there’s money in there.’”

Angel Haze

Angel Haze has already put the finishing touches on her debut album, Dirty Gold, so what better way to bide her time until its release date than chilling with Donatella Versace? Uh...there is no better way. The rapper performed at Lollapalooza last weekend in a Raf Simons menswear tank, paired with a leather J.W. Anderson menswear baseball cap, and topped off the look with a gold, Donatella-gifted pendant. Fashonista sat down with the rapper, and her affinity for designer fashion, is obvious. No wonder she and Donatella hit it off so well. And after reading these five points we gleaned from her interview, you'll def wanna be Angel's BFF, too.

Hayley Williams talked music and fashion with Topshop.
Photo: via Topshop

Given the fact that many of us have grown up alongside Paramore (and still can recite the lyrics to "Misery Business" by heart, NBD), there's a LOT we already know about frontwoman Hayley Williams. She has a killer tights game, for example. And despite the fact that she's one of few people in the world who can pull off tangerine makeup, she still released an all-orange MAC collection for the masses (and we think that if we wear it, we'll somehow look like Hayley Williams... sigh). Not to mention, this girl loves affordable, easy fashion. She even sports it on the red carpet and looks totally awesome amidst the sea of sequins and mini-dresses. Whether it's a Zara jumpsuit or that Topshop "Dweeb" shirt, leave it to the singer to make shopping at the mall cool. But despite all these tidbits of information we've collected about Hayley and the guys over the years, turns out there's some stuff we STILL need to be schooled on, and our friends at Topshop are here to help. The U.K. brand quizzed the star on her tour essentials, style icons, and more...and no matter how much you THINK you know Hayley, the answers might surprise you. Get the scoop below!

Riccardo Tisci and a look from Givenchy's FW 2010 collection, which, according to 'The Telegraph,' 'owes something to the spirit of punk.'
Photo: Getty Images

Whether we're talking about bands like The Clash or just kids hanging out on King's Road in London, nobody can deny the commonalities running through punk's storied fashion history: safety pins, studs, zippers, mix-matched materials, and that's just the beginning. But as we learn from Riccardo Tisci's recent interview with U.K.'s The Telegraph, punk is so much more than an outfit. The creative director of Givenchy is also the co-chair of tonight's (!!!) Met Gala, and he's been assisting Met curator Andrew Bolton for almost a year in research for the exhibit "Punk: Chaos to Couture," which officially opens May 9. Talking with The Telegraph in the months leading up to tonight's big event, Tisci shares his thoughts on punk's fashion influence, injecting a rebellious attitude into his clothing collections, AND why true punk style is lacking in society today. Find out what we learned below, and keep your eyeballs glued right here on MTV Style. We'll be covering the event all night long!

Beyonce getting ready to hit the stage for her The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour.
Photo: Courtesy of Beyonce's Tumblr

Beyonce and her mom, Tina Knowles, have a relationship (specifically in regards to style) that I have never and likely will never enjoy. Don't get me wrong, my mom and I are like besties. Practically Gilmore Girls status. But when I was much, much younger, my mom would try to push clothes on me at the mall, and every time I would, regrettably, shut her down. "Wanna try these flares?" I'm actually more into tapered denim, but thanks. "What about this Calvin Klein blouse?" Nah, mom. You know I love ill-fitting ribbed t-shirts with embroidered appliques. (ADAKDFJLAGK WHY??) Bey and Miss Tina, on the other hand, are the fortunate players in a symbiotic mother-daughter style relationship. To the point where Mrs. Carter will let (honestly, she probably REQUESTS) Mama Knowles consult heavily on her custom designer tour wardrobe. UK publication Grazia Daily recently got a chance to chat with Tina about her daughter's world tour togs, and the ensuing interview was every bit as informative as we'd hope. Check out the 5 things we learned from their chat below!

A$AP Rocky

A$AP Rocky for The Coveteur.
Photo: The Coveteur

As soon as you've broken the trance of A$AP Rocky's half-smile, we have serious FASHUN business to discuss. Evidence abounds that this Harlem-native is a bonafide fashion killa, and yet, with every new interview or, you know, transcribed phone call with Alexander Wang, we feel like we're learning SO MUCH about Pretty Flacko's sartorial philosophy. Honestly, a lot of the time he's dropping historical knowledge and sage style advice. It's fascinating. The Coveteur recently caught up with Rocky while on Rihanna's Diamonds World Tour in Toronto.

Earlier this week, a beauty-focused interview excerpt circulated wherein Dat PMF divulges priceless information about daily exfoliating, cleansing his face with Witch Hazel, his hair care regime, and his opinions on ladies wearing makeup. As if that wasn't illuminating enough, Coveteur has just dropped ROCKY'S FULL CLOSET FEATURE. There are Kenzo flat brims on cutting boards. There are Goyard bags on wardrobes. Best of all, though, there's another highly informative interview. Highlights include Rocky's casual mention of Alessandro Dell'Acqua amidst Dolce & Gabbana and Christian Dior without dropping a beat, and these are the five things we learned.

Russell Westbrook

Photo: ESPN

If you haven't read Sam Alipour's interview with Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook for ESPN magazine yet, I'm squarely marking it as required reading for every human I care about (consider yourself in that league—yea, YOU!). First of all, the Q&A is incredibly long but only because Russ SO warrants it. For someone catching as much attention (and magazine features, holy moly!) as he has been for the past year, it's a little unheard of for the general public to know almost nothing about him. Welp, thanks to ESPN and Alipour that's all about to change as their conversation is published alongside a candy-colored fashion spread in the mag's 2013 Photo Issue.

The franchise we typically use to celebrate interviews we love that we didn't conduct ourselves is called "5 Things We Learned," but in this case, there was absolutely NO way we would be able to narrow this down to just 5 things. The banter between Westbrook and Alipour is DRIPPING with innumerable nuggets of precious Westbrook history and trivia: how he almost went to Stanford University for academics alone, how sometimes he bowls by himself, how and why he loves math, and the reveal that he has over 100 pairs of glasses (though, that shouldn't come as that huge a surprise all things considered). But trust me, it gets SO. MUCH. BETTER.

A still from Selena Gomez's "The Look" video interview.
Photo: Courtesy of HelloStyleChannel's YouTube Channel

Somehow, by some celebrity magic, Selena Gomez has the uncanny ability to be simultaneously SMOKIN' hot and cute as a button. Perhaps it has something to do with her having the rich, dulcet voice of a grown woman while also having the babyface of a 15-year-old, but we'd venture to guess there's a lot of both bubbling under that sweet turned-up nose and ZOMG ALL THAT HAIR. This "The Look" video interview is kind of the perfect example of all of the above. Shot immediately following the very glamorously mature Harper's Bazaar cover shoot we saw drop yesterday, Selena and Bazaar's Laura Brown have a fireside chat about everything from Miss Gomez's own secrets to "luxuriant hair," putting outfits together, and what kinds of things she likes to see on boys. It's silly and adorable and we all want to be best friends with Selena, so we can raid each others' closets and practice over-the-shoulder smolder gazes in our new looks. While we daydream (dare I say, dream out loud?) about our girl crush lady date, peep these five fun facts we learned from the interview below!

Rita Ora

Photo: Getty Images

Listen, everyone here at MTV Style is already WELL acquainted with the sartorial magic of Rita Ora (um hi, this girl is literally the epitome of "IT," whatever "it" is...) But now it seems the singer has captured The New York Times under her sparkly spell, too, and it's about time. She's the subject of a new feature aptly entitled "From England, Fashion’s Latest Darling," in which the paper proclaims her as a "flamboyant breed of English rose" with a star shining SO bright, she would "probably be able to find a spotlight in Antarctica." Congrats, guys! Glad to see you've decided to join us on the Rita Ora fan bandwagon. While the interview does cover some well-tread territory- like the fact that she wears sneakers, a lot- it's also chock full of unexpected gems, like how she hangs her collection of red handbags on her wall at home and how she worships at the style temple of Daphne Guinness. So how much do you to REALLY know about Rita Ora? Check out our 5 interview takeaways below and find out...
