Amanda Bynes, Elle Fanning, and Nicki Minaj at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards in Universal City, California, on June 5, 2011.
Look, we don't usually do this because we're way into sampling all of the delicious sparkly wonders the week has to offer, but this edition of the Shoe Update is all MTV Movie Awards. While we're well aware that this cozies close to the slimy world of shameless self-promotion, we just can't help it if the ladies TURNED IT OUT at our event. Sorry we're not sorry. The pics don't lie! We sifted through dozens of pretty platforms, stilettos, wedges (side note: OMNOMNOM), but three ladies stood heels and ankles above the rest (LOLOLOL SHOE PUNZ FTW!): Amanda Bynes, Elle Fanning, and Nicki Minaj.
You've now washed out the hair spray, wiped off the makeup, and sent the dress to the dry cleaners, but still one relic from the MTV Movie Awards night will keep on keepin' on for at least a few more days: the manicure (YUSSS!). The ladies of Sunday night's Movie Awards had their nail game turned ON for summer and really showed us how it's DONE. Bold, bright, and eye-catching are key to having red carpet-worthy nails, 'specially when the heat has risen.

Whether you're into going full-on, glammed-out rhinestone almond nails like pint-size rap princess Lil Mama or favor a subtler take à la Lily Collins, metallics are a BIG WIN for the summer months. Not only as a practical measure (umm, duh, if you're not reflecting the light, you're absorbing it), but a quick swipe of your metal of choice is a great way to add a healthy dose of flash to your outfit without layering on heavy bulky hardware.
Makeup Products For A Clean, Natural Look
One in three women refuse to leave the house without their war paint...err, makeup on, found a recent study. Shocking! Um, no, not really. We've been there, and totally done that! While we'll probably never give up all of our cosmetics, there is a way to ween yourself off using SO MUCH of it, says L.A.-based makeup artist Napoleon Perdis, who tends to Amanda Bynes and Hilary Duff. Apply products that showcase your natural beauty, instead of cover it up. "Everyone's after that lit-from-within healthy glow, and it's actually really easy to get with minimal products," says Napoleon. Let's hope so.
GET THE LOOK...
STEP 1: Apply a liquid foundation like NARS Sheer Glow Foundation ($42) with a sponge. Try beautyblender ($19.95). Using a sponge will help prevent unnatural-looking streaks.
STEP 2: Smile like you mean it, and then use a large powder brush to apply Napoleon Perdis Blush Patrol ($50) to the apples of your cheeks. It will give your skin that perfect warmth.
STEP 3: To create clean, sharp brows, highlight the brow bone with a white eye pencil, and use a small eye brush to blend softly over the line. "The contrast between the pencil and the brow creates a crisp look," says Napoleon.
STEP 4: Apply a coat of brown or black mascara, then blend together shades of brown eye shadow from a palette like CoverGirl Exact Eyelights Eye-Brightening Eyeshadows in Vibrant Browns ($7.49) to define the eyes a little. Blend a champagne shade as a base, a shimmering coco brown for the lids, and a darker hue in the crease.
STEP 5: Swipe on a a creamy lipstick or a tinted balm like Bobbi Brown Tinted Lip Balm in Bronzed Pink ($18) for the perfectly natural pout.
