SAG Awards Lace

Ariel Winter, Michelle Williams, Emma Stone, and Amber Riley at the 2012 SAG Awards in L.A. on Jan. 29.
Photo: Getty Images

It seems everyone's gone girly for the 2012 SAG Awards. Ariel Winter, Michelle Williams, Emma Stone, and Amber Riley all gussied up their red carpet dresses with a little (or a lot) of lace. Ariel opted for a rhinestone and bejeweled gray, sweetheart neckline Collette Dinnigan dress. The fitted bodice was paired with a full, layered, tea-length lace skirt and she wore her hair down in shiny loose waves to complement the textural appeal. She finished her look with some glittery (and age appropriate) Miu Miu pumps, which, um, haiii, we want now. Plus, how cute would it be to cop this look from prom? Think about it. Michelle Williams stunned in a fiery red, curve-hugging Valentino gown and matching shoes. The bias-cut, single strapped dress features only a touch of lace around her shoulders for an elegant-yet-sultry cap-sleeve effect. Note that she is wearing almost NO accessories and minimal makeup. A power move for letting her crimson dress do all the talking.

Snooki, Leslie Mann, and Kim Kardashian Halloween 2011

Snooki, Leslie Mann, and Kim Kardashian in their Halloween costumes.

It's Halloween! On a Monday!!! What's so awesome about this and triple exclamation-worthy is that all of the CELEBratory parties happened this weekend (to allow for sleeping-in while still in your superhero makeup or sexy leopard Snuggie, a'la Snooki in Vegas), and now our toiling, tricked-out fingers can TREAT you with the finest of Halloween costume roundups. From the Mexican food-catered environs of Kate Hudson's Palisades party attended by everyone from Leslie Mann dressed as Kreayshawn (SHE AIN'T BASIC) and Nicole Richie as JLO to Glee parties featuring Lea Michele as a white swan and Amber Riley as Nicki Minaj. Among the more colorful costumes, Kim Kardashian was a flame-haired Poison Ivy and Mandy Moore was utterly unrecognizable as a hair metal rocker. But what about Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, and all the rest of the celebrity gang? Right this way my pretties, MWAAAA HAAAA HAAAAA!

The new season of Glee premieres on Tuesday, Sept. 20, and yet it still seems light-years away. Alas, while we wait Gleek-fully in anticipation, here are some new official photos to tide us over! In terms of the returning cast members, nothing looks too out of the ordinary in these new Fox promo shots other than there's some colorful fashion going on up in ol' William McKinley High; in fact, we'd say the members of New Directions (as well as the Dalton Academy Warblers, thanks to new full-time cast member Darren Criss) are feeling the stripe and polka dot trends pretty hard-core. With the cast set to co-host Fashion's Night Out during New York Fashion Week with—c'mon—VOGUE, we're assuming we might be seeing even more fashion on the hit show.

Even though the SAGs are sort of like a scaled-down version of the Golden Globes, the red carpet at last night's awards show was nonetheless impressive. In fact, it was near impossible to find any WTF looks (a rarity when it comes to red carpet ensembles). So which stars sizzled? These are our picks...

MILA KUNIS: Black Swan's Mila Kunis looked sexy-cool with her beachy hair and belted orange-and-red Alexander McQueen dress.

JANUARY JONES: The constant fashionista, Mad Men star January Jones gave her gold lace Carolina Herrera gown some dramatic flair by sweeping her hair up into a super-smooth chignon.

HEATHER MORRIS: If it seems like Heather Morris is always on our best-dressed lists, it's probably because she is! For the SAGs, the Glee girl teamed a stunning Romona Keveza peach gown with sleek strands.

JULIA STILES: And you thought ombre was just for hair! Julia Stiles wore a navy-to-white strapless Monique Lhuillier gown with big, vintage-y earrings and perfectly wavy hair.

AMBER RILEY: Actress/singer Amber Riley of Glee looked AMAZING in a fitted black Anne Barge gown with a ruched bodice and mermaid skirt. We love the dress, but her pink pout is our fave!

From belted beauties to long-sleeve frocks and over-the-top dresses, here are five trends that smacked us in the face at Sunday night's Golden Globes Awards.

LONG SLEEVE GOWNS: It was sunny in California, but that didn’t stop these actresses from rocking arm-covering sheaths on the red carpet. Both Anne Hathaway’s Giorgio Armani dress and Angelina Jolie’s Atelier Versace were studded with Swarovski crystals, while Leighton Meester's Burberry Prorsum printed gown featured ruched shoulders for a Victorian flair.

ONE SHOULDER DRESSES: Christina Hendricks (in Romona Keveza), Mila Kunis (in Vera Wang), and Julia Stiles (in a black ruffled gown), all nailed the one-shoulder look, thanks (in part) to their toned biceps and triceps.

BELTED BEAUTIES: Looking glamorous was a cinch for Sofia Vergara (in Vera Wang), and Glee girls Jenna Ushkowitz (in Rebecca Taylor) and Amber Riley (in Oliver Tolentino), who all belted their floor-length frocks.

SEQUINED SHEATHS: Carrie Underwood, Scarlett Johansson, and Olivia Wilde wore their star power on their backs in the form of super-sparkly, easy-to-spot dresses. Scarlett wore a bat-wing Elie Saab dress, Olivia wore a Marchesa ball gown, and Carrie wore a strapless Badgley Mischka number.

OMG! ENSEMBLES: On one hand, we want to applaud Helena Bonham Carter, Tilda Swinton, Jennifer Lopez, and January Jones for taking fashion risks. But on the other hand, we just don't get it. Helena wore two different color shoes with her Vivienne Westwood dress, Tilda's crisp white shirt and yellow skirt stiffen her demeanor, J. Lo should lose the sheer cloak (her Zuhair Murad dress would've looked just fine without it), and January's red hot Versace dress may have been a bit TOO hot.

The People's Choice Awards wasn't the only Tinseltown event that celebrities flocked to last night. CoverGirl celebrated its 50th anniversary at BOA Steakhouse in West Hollywood, drawing a smorgasbord of stylish stars (some of whom party hopped from the People's Choice Awards). Here are our favorite "easy, breezy, beautiful" looks.

Glee's Amber Riley looked AMAZING in a long-sleeve black minidress by Donna Morgan, which she customized with a pop of color on her feet. Meanwhile, it was the second celebration of the night for newest CoverGirl Taylor Swift. After winning the award for Favorite Country Artist at the People's Choice Awards, she popped by the anniversary party in a strapless, sequined black dress and strappy sandals.

Former Hills costars Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port both wore loose, slinky dresses and nearly identical strappy booties. L.C. rocked a tan minidress with three-quarter-length sleeves, while Whitney teamed her baby-blue, sleeveless, ankle-length dress with an orange clutch and a smoky crystal stretch bracelet from BaubleBar.

You may not know their names yet, but odds are by the end of 2011 these gorgeous/talented/stylish young women will be household fixtures. Meet singers like Glee star Amber Riley and actresses including Chloe Moretz, star of Let Me In--just two ladies in a crop of beauties poised to take the world by storm (and look ultra glam while they're doing it!).

AMBER RILEY: For a girl who tried out (and got cut) from American Idol, Amber isn't doing too bad for herself. This Glee girl's love for fashion isn't just an act either. Check out the red carpet-matching pumps she wore to the Glee season premiere!

CHLOE MORETZ: At 13-years-old Chloe Moretz has already starred in more movies, including Kick-Ass and Let Me In, than some have in a lifetime. But, making movies isn't her only passion. This fresh-faced actress also has a thing for cute clothes...can't you tell?!

ELLE FANNING: The little sister of actress Dakota Fanning is a rising star on both the acting and fashion fronts. This year alone, Elle was snapped wearing big-name designers such as Marchesa, Valentino, and Rodarte!

EMMA STONE: This funny and feisty redhead isn't your average actress. When Emma isn't making us laugh out loud in films like Superbad and Zombieland, she's stunning us with her elegant taste in fashion, which includes festive frocks and leather minis.

EMMA WATSON: She may have finished filming the final installment of the Harry Potter series this year, but we have a feeling Emma Watson's career has just begun. She's currently pursuing a degree in history at Brown University and she recently nabbed a Burberry campaign, too.

HEATHER MORRIS: Initially a background character, Heather Morris became a Glee regular during the show's latest season. She stepped out front and center on the fashion stage, too—we especially loved the sparkly gold column dress that she rocked at last year's Emmy Awards.

Heather Morris at the Maxim Hot 100 Party in Los Angeles on May 19, at the "Glee" Season 2 Premiere in Hollywood on Sept. 7, at the Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles on Aug. 29, at the "Glee" Spring Premiere in Los Angeles on April 12.

KAT GRAHAM: Singer and Vampire Diaries star Kat Graham might be a newcomer on the scene, but she dresses like a longtime professional! We can't get over the way she effortlessly mixes and matches colors, patterns, and styles—check out how she paired a strapless leotard with sneakers! Brilliant!!

VICTORIA JUSTICE: This Nickelodeon star (she's known best for Victorious but has also appeared on Zoey 101) has an acting and singing career under her belt, and this year Victoria even nabbed a Teen Vogue cover! When it comes to fashion, it's all about elegance for this brunette beauty—feminine frocks in romantic colors and pretty pleating details.

WILLOW SMITH: This stylish starlet, who is the daughter of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, comes from a family of talented folks. But Willow made solo headlines this year with her first single, "Whip My Hair," in which the ten-year-old showed off fierce boots, amazing nail art, and five different colorful hairstyles!

ZOE KRAVITZ: After she starred as the face of Vera Wang's Princess fragrance last year, Zoe Kravitz continued her modeling career with a campaign for Alexander Wang's affordable T-shirt line in 2010. And the actress (and spawn of Lisa Bonet and Lenny Kravitz) is certainly no stranger to high fashion—she showed off a number of ultra glam looks on the red carpet this year.

Do you remember that "No White After Labor Day" rule? Yeah, well, it didn't really apply in 2010. This year (from summer to winter) it was all about the Little White Dress. Celebs such as Kim Kardashian and Jessica Alba chose the clean, crisp shade in everything from belted cocktail dresses to curve-hugging strapless shifts. Little Black Dress, you might want to watch your back!

ONE SHOULDER: The one-shoulder look was clearly having a moment on red carpets. Celebs like Selena Gomez and January Jones showed just how flattering the neckline/collarbone-revealing style could be by wearing it with little (if any) jewelry.

BELTED: Jessica Alba's white dress collection runs deep (it was her favorite color to wear out and about). But the fashionista also has a TON of belts, which she used to brighten her look and cinch her waist.

A-LINE: It's no wonder Elle Fanning, Ashley Greene, and Carrie Underwood all chose this ladylike silhouette—it's flattering on ANY body type. If you're thin, it creates curves; if you have curves, it makes them look hotter.

Elle Fanning at AMPAS 2nd Annual Governors Awards in Hollywood on Nov. 13, Ashley Greene at the 13th Annual Super Saturday Event in Water Mill, N.Y., on July 31, Carrie Underwood at the 45th Annual Academy Of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas on April 18.

STRUCTURED HIPS: Whitney Port and Anne Hathaway created the illusion of an hourglass shape in white dresses with hip-slung ruffles. So sneaky!

POUFY: In addition to great hair and acting ability, we bet Dakota Fanning and her younger sister, Elle, share fashion tips, too. They were both spotted in voluminous/vintage-y toile dresses, which they both paired with black heels.
