Formerly scoffed by many as the slightly less-beloved long-legged cousin of the romper, the elusive JUMPSUIT is working its way to becoming a commonly seen and widely accepted silhouette. That's right. The utilitarian onesie is no longer the exclusive uniform of skydivers and motorcycle racers. Nor is it relegated to the stage as a fanciful performance outfit in the form of a neon spandex catsuit. Nope. The jumpsuit is ready for real life where it can roam free in the wild of city sidewalks and cul-de-sac barbeques.

Riding the wave of the '90s revival alongside Justin Bieber and Willow Smith's classic sitcom t-shirts, Lady Gaga's vintage Versace, and Nickelodeon's '90s Are All That, the jumpsuit is cleaning up its act this time around, abandoning the painted-on plastic/latex/PVC of the nineties for more sophisticated, relaxed cuts and easy, (PRAISE BE) breathable fabrics. Sure, you end up basically naked every time you have to use the bathroom, but the refreshing figuration is WORTH IT.

Kristin Davis as Charlotte York in "Sex and the City 2," and Selena Gomez in Santa Monica, California, on June 13, 2011.
Photo: Courtesy of New Line Cinema/Getty Images

Just when you thought Sex and the City was getting a little too middle-aged for the Jimmy Choo-clad crowd, author Candace Bushnell has come out with “Summer And The City,” a young adult novel based on the titular characters’ first interactions with the city, following a young, senior-year Carrie in the Big Apple. Not only do we love YA novels (especially YA novels about the city in which we live), we love seeing the girls who practically defined ‘90s NYC as unsure, post-teen city dwellers who teeter around town on un-sensible shoes much like the young authors at MTV Style. (There are four of us, TOO…no one calls Miranda, though in reality it would most likely be me. Womp-womp.)

In speaking about her novel, Bushnell says she’d like to see it on the screen. Which means, of course, today's Bright Young Things not only need to embody ICONS, but also the history of being some of the most stylish women (fictional and not) of all time. But can the gals today cut it? The chic lit turned YA novel(ista) thinks so, since she told The Daily Caller about her secret casting visions—not for heroine Carrie, but the young (and presumably pristine) Charlotte. “I’m going to get into trouble for this, but I was looking at some pictures of Selena Gomez today and thinking ’she’d make a really good young Charlotte.” Whoa. Candy, you are so right on; Selena's clean-cut charm practically oozes a slightly less WASP-y Charlotte. (Demure, well-heeled, but exceptionally assembled. Charlotte would applaud young Selena.) To make Hollywood’s job easier as they scrape together a script, we’ve picked the gals who've got the look down pat.

AnnaLynne McCord debuts new hair at the Artists for Peace and Justice launch in Beverly Hills on June 15, and at the CW Upfront on May 19.
Photo: Getty Images

Hair color change alert! (We actually have those around the office.) AnnaLynne McCord is a brunette! This 90210 star ditched her light locks for a darker 'do, and we're liking her dramatic turn. She looks so mature and SERIOUS, as if she was finally turning up the heat on her *air quotes* artistry. Imagine her cast in a dark, psychotic thriller as the witchy "other woman." Or even the twee love interest of a geeky dude in an indie flick. Or as a protagonist in a coming-of-age drama about a woman on the pursuit of "finding herself." She's a serious actress now, you guys. In fact, AnnyLynne has been a brunette for almost a whole day, and you know what? Something magical has happened. There isn't a SINGLE PHOTO of her doing her signature kissyface pose. What? YOU'VE NEVER SEEN IT? Oh, right this way please.

Jay Cutler and Kristin Cavallari in L.A. on March 28.
Photo: Getty Images

• Our fave Hillzie Kristin Cavallari is engaged to Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, so we take a stab at what she might wear on the big day. (Psst! K Cav! Invite Whitney Port so we can dissect her outfit too.)

• 30 Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto got a WEE bit scissor happy while onstage, and we liked it. What were those other hot dudes up to this week? Pharrell tied his own bow tie (*slow clap*), Akon got nakie in front of the entire world, Joe Jonas wore a jean jacket under a suit (whoooaa), and Orlando Bloom is hot, even when wet.

• So. Many. Amazing. Videos. On. The. Interwebz. This week Lady Gaga showed off some to-die-for jackets in her new Gagavision video (please paint my face on the back of my coat, thanks), and the Beastie Boys released a 20-minute music video with a bajillion celebs in it.

• Fashion is nothing without those uh-mazing magazine covers! Check out Michelle Williams on the cover of Interview and the Olsens dominating Newsweek.

• Want to cop your favorite celebs' latest look? Get a panther necklace like that of Willow Smith, a cutout shoulder dress like Kat Graham's, platform shoes like on Fergie, or a party frock like on Ashley Tisdale.

• The fashion world is ALWAYS surprising us, so here's some of the cray-cray stuff that came our way: Beyoncé fiercely sported a Goofy hat, AnnaLynne McCord went makeup free while Ke$ha really piled it on, Katy Perry put Prince William on her nails, and Christian Louboutin made hoof shoes.

Have an amazing weekend, fashion friends!!

AnnaLynne McCord at Wet Republic pool in Las Vegas on April 23.
Photo: Getty Images

AnnaLynne McCord partnered an army green bikini, jean jacket and maxi skirt with what looked like just a hint of makeup at the Wet Republic Pool party held at MGM Grand in Las Vegas over the weekend. The 23-year-old 90210 actress looked so bare-faced and beautiful. So naturally radiant. So minimalist. But, who do YOU know can roll out of bed looking this fresh-faced and GORGE. Yeah, we hate to burst your bubble, but the no-makeup makeup look actually requires a bit of prep work. The good news—it's a waaaayyyyy faster (and fool-proof) makeup routine to snag than the whole red lip + cat eye ensemble.

Step 1 Moisturize and even out your skin tone with a tinted lotion, like Tarte Smooth Operator Natural Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 ($36, ulta.com), which is infused with sunscreen to protect your complexion from skin-damaging UV rays.

Step 2 Disguise flaws (breakouts, undereye circles, etc.) with a concealer like Maybelline Mineral Power Concealer ($6.99, drugstore.com). One with a small applicator tip will help reign in a heavy hand and prevent caking.

Step 3 If your skin gets shiny, sweep on a light dusting of oil-absorbing powder. Shiseido Translucent Pressed Powder ($32, sephora.com) will leave an unnoticeable veil of shine-blocker.

Step 4 Apply a warm peach or pink cream blush to the apples of your cheeks. NARS Cream Blush in Penny Lane ($27, sephora.com) gives skin a natural flush.

Step 5 Brighten eyes by blending a champagne-colored shadow like Urban Decay Delux Eyeshadow in Ruthless ($18, urbandecay.com) onto the center of your eyelids, the brow bones, and the inner corners of your eyes.

Step 6 Lightly dot a gray or brown eyeliner pencil like CoverGirl Perfect Blend Eye Pencil in Smoky Taupe ($5.29, drugstore.com) between your top lashes and blend gently with your pinky.

Step 7 Use your fingertip to dab on a pretty lip tint like Korres Guava Lipstick in Rose ($22, korresusa.com) that matches the natural shade of your lips.

AnnaLynne McCord, Leighton Meester, and Halle Berry are just some of the actresses who’ve recently brought the power suit trend from the 1980s back in a very modern and sexy way. By choosing well-tailored cuts, festive fabrics, and girly footwear, these ladies prove that sporting a menswear look can be just as flirty and feminine as a cocktail dress.

ANNALYNNE MCCORD: We love how structured AnnaLynne McCord’s look was for the People’s Choice Awards press conference on Nov. 9 in West Hollywood. Her gray tailored trousers pair perfectly with her poufy-sleeved shirt. The blue tie, crimson belt buckle, and red pumps add fun flashes of color to her otherwise neutral ensemble.

LEIGHTON MEESTER: For the Gotham Independent Film Awards, Leighton Meester opted for a traditional menswear look, choosing a black Thom Browne suit, which she wore with a classic white shirt and a loosely knotted tie. But the Gossip Girl actress kept it girly with Salvatore Ferragamo heels.

HALLE BERRY: Halle Berry opted for a Balmain suit from the label’s Fall 2010 collection when she attended the Frankie and Alice premiere in Los Angeles. The actress let her jacquard suit shine by choosing a simple black blouse and pumps.

JESSICA ALBA: Jessica Alba skipped the shirt underneath when she wore a black Dolce & Gabbana suit, which she teamed with studded Christian Louboutin pumps to the Footwear News Achievement Awards in New York City last month.

WINONA RYDER: Winona Ryder also went for head-to-toe black in a Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci suit, which she paired with a stain clutch and a dramatic silver necklace.

HALLE BERRY (PART 2): Halle Berry attended The Hollywood Reporter’s Annual Power 100 event celebrating women in entertainment in a pinstripe Dolce & Gabbana suit. She finished the look with a Gucci halter in neutral tones and a leopard print Jimmy Choo "Mandah" bag.

ANNALYNNE MCCORD (PART 2): AnnaLynne McCord looked white hot at the Spike TV awards in Los Angeles, where she showed up in a loose boyfriend blazer and flared pants. The actress spiced up her all-white look with a leopard print clutch, plus the same red pumps from her earlier menswear look.

JESSICA STROUP:The menswear-inspired jumpsuit that Jessica Stroup wore to Charity Ball in New York earlier this month looked elegant with pleating and a plunging neckline. She kept it clean with black satin pumps. So pretty!

Soon the ball will drop on 2010 and we'll ring in a brand spankin' new year full of menswear-inspired trousers and honeysuckle-colored blouses (so say the trend forecasters). But before "old acquaintance be forgot" we'd like to take you back—back to the fashion and beauty moments of 2010 that made us smile (Rihanna's red hot hair), laugh (Katy Perry's snowman performance ensemble), and say to ourselves "WTF?!" (Lady Gaga's meat dress).

First up? Top trends. From the mono-shoulder to tutu ensembles, these were the looks that we spotted over, and over...AND OVER again. But, you know what? We never got tired of seeing them reincarnated to fit different celebrities' unique personalities.

CUT OUT DRESSES: Walking around in torn clothes used to be uncouth. In 2010, however, wearing a slashed, Zoro-treated dress, like those ofRoxy Olin, Leighton Meester, AnnaLynne McCord and Audrina Patridge, looked sexy and fresh.

LACE: The dainty, vintage-y fabric showed up in all kinds of hues, from the more traditional whites and creams that Lauren Conrad and Taylor Swift wore, to the red carpet-matching crimson Michelle Williams wore.

LEOPARD: From Keri Hilson's casual-cool blouse and Rachel Bilson's shoulder-showing gown, to Rihanna's fitted top and pencil skirt combo, animal prints turned basic pieces fierce.

ONE-SHOULDER: It's no wonder TONS of celebs, including Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, Kristen Stewart and Miley Cyrus, bared arms in single-strap dresses and jumpers—the one-shoulder silhouette is easier to wear than strapless frocks and just as gorgeous.

Rihanna at an after-party in Hollywood on July 21, Kim Kardashian at the Teen Choice Awards in Universal City on Aug. 8, Kristen Stewart at a 'Welcome To The Rileys' screening in New York on Oct. 18, and Miley Cyrus at 'The Last Song' premiere in Los Angeles on March 25.

SHEER: Stealing the spotlight was a cinch for Kristen Stewart, Florence Welch and Stephanie Pratt, who were just a handful of stars who strategically showed some skin in partially see-through sheaths.

TUTUS: These full-bodied mini-skirts weren't just for ballerina's and three-year-olds. While Rihanna and Christina Ricci attended parties and benefits in the girly getup, Katy Perry performed in tutus...more than once!

PRINTS AND PATTERNS: Many stars, like Lea Michele, Whitney Port, and Keira Knightley, shelved their monochromatic looks for fun florals, mixed graphics and poppy mosaics.

SEQUINS: It didn't matter if they were gold, silver, or bronze, stars (including Amanda Michalka and Audrina Patridge) who wore glam sequins cocktail dresses were all winners.

BEIGE: Beige used to be boring. Not anymore! Mila Kunis and Olivia Wilde wore glamorous gowns in the hue, while Blake Lively and Frieda Pinto made the shade fun and flirty.

UNDERSTATED SEXY: Finding the perfect balance between bum and rico-suave became the goal of guys in Hollywood. With just the right amount of wrinkle in their suits and looseness in their ties, Alexander Skarsgard, Andrew Garfield, and Jake Gyllenhaal were just a few of the MANY stars to pull it off perfectly.

Still looking for the perfect party frock for the holidays? The Alice + Olivia by Stacey Bendet Holiday Party (held last night in Hollywood) was full of them. Dozens of celebs, including AnnaLynne McCord, Katharine McPhee, and Ashlee Simpson-Wentz dressed in festive ruffles, sparkle and fur, popped by the shopping soiree, which benefited Baby Buggy, a nonprofit that helps New York City families with small children in need. Here are the looks we're obsessing over.

P.S.: In case you're curious about the Tide bottles sitting on the floor behind the posing celebs (WE WERE!), Tide Free & Gentle (detergent that caters to kids) sponsored the entire event.

Fergie in Casadei on Nov. 8, Michelle Trachtenberg in Giuseppe Zanotti on Nov. 4, AnnaLynne McCord on Nov. 9.
Photo: WireImage

Celebrities must have been inspired by the red carpets they walked on this week because they wore lots of red on their feet. Fergie rocked red-hot heels with cutout details by Casadei with a matching Zac Posen dress to the Glamour Women of the Year awards, Michelle Trachtenberg stood out with sky-high fiery platform ankle-strap wedges by Guiseppe Zanotti, and AnnaLynne McCord went for a lighter look in coral patent leather pumps. All three ladies looked great in red, but which burst of bright color was your favorite?

Heavy metal may not be your favorite type of music, but it's becoming a popular shoe style. Both Blake Lively and Nina Dobrev attended Spike's Scream Awards last weekend wearing shoes with metal on them — Blake in a pair of Lanvin heels with brass connecting to the shoe, and Nina in a pair of Rock & Republic pumps with chains around the ankles. Now that's the sort of heavy metal we love.
