OMGZ. Our favorite Hillsie Lauren Conrad tie-dyed her blonde tips! Last week, she posted an image of multicolored strands on a blondie much like herself, claiming she was "obsessed" with this look—and we kind of don't blame her. Fortunately, she then polled her readers on her beauty site TheBeautyDepartment.com on whether she should take the purple-haired plunge and, lucky for us, the answer was a resounding "DO IT!" (Um, we may have voted. A lot. WHAT? LC SHOULD TAKE SOME FASHION RISKS, OK?!) And guess what? LC did not disappoint! Shortly after the poll, her hair became public property. She tweeted, "So this is happening..." and linked to a pic of blue and purple hair dye followed by a shot of her GORGE rainbow locks on her site. We're glad Lauren DIDN'T play it safe and that we got to weigh in on her next big beauty move. The perfect thing about just kissing the tips with color is that LC can play it safe in the front, but then have some fun and color (perf for summer, right?) in back.
We love this look sosososo much, and we can't WAIT to see these punky strands on Ms. Conrad from the front. Luckily, she posted a step-by-step tutorial on how to cop her look here!!

Super Bowl weekend is upon us, and while we're not exactly looking forward to those endless instant replays, there's one thing we're excited to see — The Black Eyed Peas headlining the halftime show! What will the stylish foursome wear at one of the biggest events of the year? Rapper apl.de.ap gave us a tiny peek into their fashion dedication with a Super Bowl-themed shaved head (topped with a mohawk!). When you're done "ooh-ing" and "ahh-ing" over the impeccable edge-up skills, check out apl.de.ap's black leather jacket, skinny gray scarf, black skinny jeans, studded belt, aviator sunglasses, and gray high-top sneakers. Sharp! If The Black Eyed Peas performance is as wild as apl.de.ap's hair and outfit, we're in for a real treat!

Inspired by 2010's big choppers Emma Watson, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, and Keira Knightley (OK, maybe not!), My Chemical Romance band member Gerard Way recently took a pair of scissors to his Kool-Aid-colored coif, shearing the sides and trimming a couple of inches off the top. Is the new 'do a sneak peek at the singer's stage style for MCR's upcoming tour? Maybe. But Gerard didn't stop with just a cut. He also refreshed his pinkish-red dye job, covering up his grown-out brown roots, for a lush look that we sort of have the urge to run our fingers through.
+ Which Gerard Way 'do is your fave — short and sleek or long and wayward?
Whitney Port at the 'Bowl for a Better L.A.' benefit on Oct. 22.

The City may be canceled (sniff-sniff), but that doesn't mean we're going to stop checking for hair inspiration via Whitney Port. Here's one breezy 'do we spotted on Whitney a few days ago. We asked Marc Mena, Garnier celebrity stylist who has also worked on Whitney's amiga from The Hills, Audrina Patridge, to give us tips on getting the look.
John Frieda and Garnier Fructis products.
GET THE LOOK...
STEP 1: Blow-dry your hair, using a large paddle brush and serum like John Frieda Frizz-Ease Hair Serum ($8.99, drugstore.com) to smooth. Section your hair into three parts (two in the front with a center part, and one large section.)
STEP 2: French braid the front two sections of your head securing the ends with a small clear hair band. "Keep the hair pulled tightly to get the sleek look," says Mena. Use a wax like Garnier Fructis Style Fiber Gum Putty ($4.29, drugstore.com) to prevent flyways.
STEP 3: Bring together the two front braided sections with a third clear hair band. (The third hair band should rest on the part that divides the back section from the front two.) Let the back section hang for a look that's chic as well as functional — no annoying strands flying in your face!

Willow Smith in her new 'Whip My Hair' music video.

Willow Smith, the 9-year-old daughter of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith (she turns 10 on Halloween), just released the video for her first single, "Whip My Hair." The high-octane video is just as addictive as the song itself, which features a chorus of: "I whip my hair back on forth" on repeat (we've been singing it all day, much to the chagrin of everyone in the MTV Style office). But what stood out for us was, well, Willow's style, of course. She went through five different 'dos — not to mention six pairs of fierce boots/sneaks and some amazing nail art. The five hairstyles included:
1. A braid that looked like a large heart.
2. Long braids in which she used to "whip."
3. A multicolor wavy mohawk/pouf with green and pink highlights.
4. A party pouf with pink and purple side puffs of hair.
5. And, finally, three mini braided buns.
Below, check out close-ups of our two favorite hairstyles from the video — the multicolored mohawk, and the colorful pouf style. We're afraid this girl is cooler at 9 years old than we are now.

We are so on top of Kristen Stewart's hair changes. Yesterday, she stuck it to the brunettes by stepping out with a new fiery red hair color. And then, she ups her hair game even more by banging out this sick braided updo at The Twilight Saga: Eclipse New York screening last night. It's too much hair goodness at once from one tiny person!
And we want need the look. So, we talked to the stylist who created the look for the starlet last night, Fekkai Celebrity Stylist Adir Abergel, to find out how you can create this updo at home in three easy steps. And it's pretty inclusive, even if your hair is moderately short. "When Kristen’s hair is down, it is just beneath her shoulder, but this is great for any length of hair," Adir assured us.

Katy Perry's hair team must be working overtime! This week, the pop star totally ditched her colorful wigs (blue at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards and purple in the California Gurls video) in favor of elaborate new 'dos for her brunette locks. She looked absolutely divine when she pulled it back in a sleek, straight ponytail for an appearance on a Canadian talk show a few days ago. But at the MuchMusic Awards two days later, she rocked curly tresses. (Oooh, wavy ... how beach-y and California-ish!) And when she performed for a MuchMusic special this week, she had pin-up-style bangs. By our calculations, that means it's quite possible she spent more time with her personal hairstylist than on stage this week. But, hey, if we could afford to get our hair done every day then we would, too.
+ So which do you like the best? Straight, curly, or bangs? Tell us in the comments!
