Much like the government (according to the Gettysburg Address), the People's Choice Awards are of the people, by the people [and] for the people. They also officially kick off awards show season, aka that time of year when gawking at pretty dresses gets us through the cruel winter. From television and movie stars to daytime talk- and game-show hosts, all of Hollywood did one thing really well with their outfits at this year's PCAs: They reminded us that below-freezing temperatures didn't affect California. Oh, and also, that neutrals are trending. Wanna know who did it best? Check out our favorite looks from the 2014 People's Choice Awards below!

BRITNEY SPEARS IN MIKAEL D

Las Vegas looks good on Britney, y'all! The Princess of Pop took a break from her two-year residency at Planet Hollywood to make an appearance (and accept her first PCA!) in a Mikael D pre-Fall 2013 dress covered with silver rose appliqué detailing. Ms. Spears accessorized with Giuseppe Zanotti shoes, a Kotur bag, and Broken English jewelry. Very fun, but also mature.

In the past year alone, Jennifer Lawrence won an Oscar, starred in the second installment of the blockbuster Hunger Games series, and became everyone's favorite imaginary BFF. She's refreshingly candid, totally poised, and, thanks to a little help from her stylist, Rachel Zoe, one of the most style-savvy ladies in the game. "I really would not call myself a fashion icon," she told E!. "I would call myself somebody who gets dressed by professionals. [It's like], 'Dance, monkey, dance' right on the red carpet.' I would call me more of a monkey." LOL, girl, you so humble.

Even though she hasn't quite nailed down a signature look yet (unless, of course, you count her racks and racks of Dior as a face of the brand), J. Law continues to kill it with risk-taking gowns, two-pieces, and a variety of silhouettes. In honor of her MAY-JAH year in both film and fashion, we've rounded up our top 10 favorite J. Law style moments of 2013.

She doesn't often do graphic prints, but when she does, she does them with really cool matching shoes. In January, back when most of us were reluctantly pulling on parkas and sweater tights, Jennifer showed up at the 2013 AFI Awards in BARE LEGS and a colorful, figure-flattering sheath dress with metallic tweed stripes by Prabal Gurung. Her coordinating cap-toe pumps, which boasted a mirrored heel, mesh straps, and neon-pink piping, came from Gurung's line with Casadei. Sidebar: Remember when her hair was SO LONG?

Teen Wolf Young Hollywood Awards

But seriously, how cute is the 'Teen Wolf' cast?
Photo: Getty Images

Every week here on MTV Style, we dish on our favorite Teen Wolf episode ensembles, but sometimes we like to see what the cast wears in real life. As it turns out, the entire crew (seriously, EVERYONE) is the cutest dresser to boot. Need proof? Last night at the Young Hollywood Awards, the cast arrived in the freshest summer-inspired duds, and, you guys, they even coordinated! Awwww. We don't know if it was planned, but the ladies opted for super cute floral ensembles while the boys went for solid staples that complemented them perfectly. Obvi we need to take a closer look!

Lauren Conrad Marie Claire

We can't stop talking about Lauren Conrad! Between her debut bedding collection with Kohl's, summer LC Lauren Conrad clothing line, and new Infamous book, the ex-Hillsie has certainly been keeping us atwitter. Today, we were hit with even more LC amazingness thanks to Marie Claire. She graces their July issue in a edgy new look, which features bold beachside ensembles, sultry smoky eyes and, most notably, BANGS. She showed off her fresh Brigitte Bardot-inspired fringe only a couple weeks ago, so we are mega shocked (and psyched!) to see her sporting them on the cover. And, not to be totally weird, but LC looks hot in this issue. On the cover, she sported a sizzling yellow Emanuel Ungaro bandage dress with black and white polka dots, stacked Pomellato bracelets and her signature blonde strands.

Selena Gomez Rihanna Rita Ora Gladiator Shoes

Hi, world! Remember gladiator sandals? Heh, well, they're back. In case you forgot, between 2005 and 2008 these strappy shoes we ALL the rage. Whether they were low-top, high-top, studded, tasseled, bedazzled or anything in between, everyone wanted their hands (er, feet?) on a pair. Eventually, they made their way out of the fashion world, and we haven't looked back—until now. We can't stop spotting celebrities wearing the strappy, Roman-inspired shoes as of late (see: Selena Gomez, Rihanna, and Rita Ora), and we need to discuss. I mean, we have to admit we're not too surprised at their comeback considering they were all over the Spring/Summer 2013 runways—everyone from Alexander Wang to Proenza Schouler decked out their models in knee-high gladiator shoes. The only difference is that this time around we're supposed to refer to them as "cutaway boots." Got it? Got it.

Katy Perry Brazil

Katy Perry promotes her 'Part of Me' 3D movie in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

We feel like we haven't seen Katy Perry in FOREVS, so when pics of her in Brazil surfaced this morning, it was basically like Christmas in July. Eeee! We couldn't WAIT to talk about all the outfits she's been wearing while promoting her Katy Perry: Part of Me movie south of the equator. She started off the day in Rio de Janeiro sporting a revealing lime green Versus frock paired with burgundy Brian Atwood "Power Studs" heels and a freshly-shorn 'do. (We'll admit we kinda miss her purple tips. *sniff sniff*) Katy kept her accessories simple as to not, erm, distract from the diamond cut-outs around the chest. I mean, we know no one would be looking at her jewelry anyway. Moving on!

Selena Gomez

Helloooooo, NURSE! Excuse us while we shove our eyeballs back into their sockets, but this Selena Gomez Elle Magazine spread is tongue-waggingly amazeballs. Our little Selenita is all grown up and flaunting some seriously sexy fashion. I mean, this is some opulent, glamourous Donatella Versace muse-type steez. For the newstand cover, Sel wears a heavily embellished mesh corset from Dolce & Gabbana with a bold scarlet lip and a grip of gold baubles. She's backdropped against a far-reaching horizon line of rolling ocean waves, onyx hair perfectly windswept, shimmering eyes framed by extra-strong brows.

Cosmopolitan Fun And Fearless Awards

Dakota Fanning, Rose Byrne, and Lucy Hale at "Cosmopolitan"magazine's Fun Fearless Men and Women of 2012 Awards in New York on March 5.

Despite the freezing weather outside, it looks like spring has arrived in NYC! Dakota Fanning, Rose Byrne, and Lucy Hale all opted for soft pastel dresses at the Cosmopolitan Fun Fearless Awards last night, and now we officially can't wait for the warmer weather to roll in. Dakota looked '60s chic in a structured cutout lavender Miu Miu spring 2012 RTW frock. She paired her simple shift with nude patent leather pointy heels, a silver sequin clutch, a couple of statement rings, and a black ribbon headband. We LOVE her super thick cat eyes with her center-parted blonde hair and nude lips. It's sooo age-appropriate sex kitten.

Whitney Port, Willow Smith, and Jessica Alba wear the week's most dazzling shoes.
Photo: WireImage/Getty Images

Forget trimming the tree. This week was all about decking out your FEET. With a mix of textures and heavy-handed doses of sparkle and shine, Whitney Port, Willow Smith, and Jessica Alba turned it out with some of the most dazzling displays of footwear of this past week. Due to the unseasonably warm weather we've been lucky enough to experience lately (haaayyy, bare-legged December!), these ladies' tootsies are clad in the gamut of shoe silhouettes from peep toes to combat boots but all unified in their unabashed ornamentation.

Last night's Gossip Girl was somewhat of a transitionary episode, but nonetheless brimming with juicy dramz. Kicking things off with Serena's (Blake Lively) new gig working at the Spectator for Diana (Elizabeth Hurley) who wants Serena to start a blog to rival GG herself (sidenote: is it just me or is there a weird "gotta catch 'em all" feel to Diana's Spectator staffing?). Diana nabbed Serena after her former job with Jane (Michael Michele) fell through when she halted production on the film version of Dan's (Penn Badgley) book. Dan's supposed to be out on a book tour but has apparently been missing meet and greets. Maybe dropping off the bestseller list hurt his pride?

Charlie (aka Ivy) (Kaylee DeFer) has gotten herself wrapped up in a cougar love triangle with Diana and Nate (Chace Crawford) which, with the sudden reappearance of Ivy's ex-boyfriend Max, can only lead to major trouble for her secret double life. Prince Louis (Hugo Becker) is away on business, and with his recent slip to the dark and scheming, and Chuck's (Ed Westwick) public turning of a new leaf, Blair (Leighton Meester) is *cough* once again *cough* conflicted about her choice (though she'd never admit that). Blair plans to reveal that the real Chuck Bass still exists deep down. Just about everything comes to a head at Chuck's masked masquerade party slash play, but if you haven't caught up, we won't spoil the rest for you. Check back here weekly for our fashion recap!
