Style has moved! come with us to mtv news »

I guess this is it. The final season of Gossip Girl is officially underway, and this first episode marks the beginning of the end. *single tear* With a whole summer between now and last season's finale, there was a lot of catching up to be done. Dan (Penn Badgley) spent his summer at a writing fellowship in Italy where he enlisted Georgina Sparks (Michelle Trachtenberg) to help him pen his next scathing exposé of the Upper East Side. We found Blair (Leighton Meester) and Chuck (Ed Westwick) going from wild nights together in Monte Carlo to serving out the rest of their summers sorting out business in different parts of the globe (Paris and Dubai, respectively), but promising they would end up together, you know, eventually.

Chuck's father Bart (Robert John Burke) and Lily (Kelly Rutherford) spent their vacation rekindling their old flame and returned home happy and relaxed with Rufus (Matthew Settle) barely an afterthought. That is, until they discovered Serena (Blake Lively) hadn't been home all summer and disappeared without a word. Lily called Nate (Chace Crawford) who had spent the last three months devising a plan to revive his newspaper The Spectator. Shocked by the news, he rounded up the rest of the friends and initiated a mission to find S and bring her home. After a major negotiation with Gossip Girl herself, Nate was able to lead everyone to Serena (or should we say Sabrina?) in Poughkeepsie where she had created a new life with a new beau (all in a few months???). If you haven't caught up yet, we won't spoil the rest for you, but check back here weekly for our fashion recap!

Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, and Kaylee Defer help "Gossip Girl" celebrate 100 episodes.

Can you believe that Gossip Girl is already celebrating 100 episodes? It seems like just yesterday we were tuning in to the relatively newly renamed CW network to give this cast of unknowns (*achem* extremely good-looking and well-dressed unknowns) a chance. It wasn't long before Blake Lively's Serena van der Woodsen and Leighton Meester's Blair Waldorf and the rest of the Upper East Side's young elite had captured our hearts, attention, and Wednesday nights. Since then, the series has experienced cameos, character appearances and banishments, and more formal parties than you can shake a stick at. The series has become a hot bed for contemporary fashion and as the years have gone on, stylistas have tuned in at growing numbers, like moths to a flame. Naturally, a celebration of the storied fash-forward show would, of course, yield a gang of exquisitely wardrobed attendees.

Hi there, folks, it's Gossip Girl time here, your one and only source into the fashionable TV lives of Manhattan aesthetes. We left off last week in a frenzy of new plotlines and character developments. Lonely Boy Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley) wrote an anonymous book that's no longer anonymous; in fact, it has his name on it and he's set to make his literary debut! Problem is, he must tell his friends and family they were the subjects of his tell-all memoir (we mean novel). Even though everyone's worried what his former flame, the "leggy blonde Sabrina"—er‚ Serena Van Der Woodsen (Blake Lively) is going to think, it's actually his longtime arch nemesis and sometime kissing buddy Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) he's more worried about. Blair, who is still preggers but mumsies about who the real father is, even though she insists it's her straight-laced fiancé, Prince Louis, has a run-in with Chuck (Ed Westwick) that causes his dog to tangle her up in an embrace just in time for somebody to shoot a camera phone pic. Meanwhile, in Cougarville, Nate (Chace Crawford) is still making his boss, Diana Payne (Elizabeth Hurley), purr for gossip while Diana figures out the identity of Ivy, aka "Charlie" (Kaylee DeFer) and starts to blackmail her. As predicted, Lonely Boy's book makes everyone really mad, and he is left alone at his own party. In case you haven't caught up yet, we won't spoil the rest, but check back here weekly for our fashion recap!

Last night's season premiere of Gossip Girl was nothing short of thirst-quenching. After a summerlong hiatus, the small screen reunion of our favorite Upper East Side youths did not disappoint—both in twisty turning plotlines and a drool-worthy wardrobe. This episode caught us up with Serena Van Der Woodsen's (Blake Lively) L.A. film apprenticeship. She was visited by the globe-trotting Chuck (Ed Westwick) and Nate (Chace Crawford), which led to the introduction of much-anticipated cast addition Diana Payne (Elizabeth Hurley). Back on the East Coast, Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) was busy planning for her impending wedding to Prince Louis Grimaldi, and Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley) was just beginning to discover what exactly Vanessa (Jessica Szohr) had done with his secret manuscript. In case you haven't caught up yet, we won't spoil the rest, but check back here weekly for our fashion recap!

• This week we celebrated our first birthday! The selfless beings that we are here at MTV Style (to be read with intense sarcasm), we find it better to give than to receive. Thus, we presented our GIF to you as a sincere and heartfelt THANK YOU to each and every one of you who loves fashion at full volume and has put up with all 119 instances of the word "glitter" on this blog.

• What week is Justin Bieber NOT king? Regardless, this was a big one for the Biebs as he finally released his much-anticipated women's perfume, Someday. Our friends at Buzzworthy tested it out on a few strangers in Time Square in a video you just can't miss! Justin also sported a T-shirt of '90s teen queen Tiffani Thiessen, who then RETURNED THE FAVOR (oh yes, we are still excited about it) by wearing a Bieber tee of her own! No word on when Justin Bieber will one-up Tiffani with the (totally meta) move of wearing a T-shirt of her wearing a T-shirt of him, but we'll be there if/when it happens.

• We caught up personally with a few style stars this week. NBD. *awkwardly brushes shoulders off in an attempt to be nonchalant* Robyn, despite all of our girlish swooning, took some time to speak with us about her cray-mazing personal style from fancy underpants to custom Timbs. And we all developed even bigger girl-crushes on Kreayshawn after she may or may not have TOTALLY SCHOOLED US at liquid eyeliner application. We're unsettlingly competitive so the loss REALLY stings, but for her, we put it aside.

• We analyzed the video fashions of two women idolized by girls everywhere: Britney Spears and Miss Piggy. We broke down Brit's new punk rock look for her "I Wanna Go" music video down to each and every last safety pin. And Miss Piggy brought her fashion game as a 'Vogue Paris' editor in the new Muppets trailer.

• Finally, we (yet again) ogled a wholeeee LOTTA boys, high-fashion boys at that. The D&G models at this week's Milan show charged down the runway like a shirtless army that we definitely wouldn't mind pretending to fend off. The Versace show drew in a seriously studly front row (umm HAI Chace Crawford and Darren Criss). Aaannndd Nicola Formichetti's new campaign video for Mugler is basically porn, and we're not mad about it.

That's it for this week! Thanks for the birthday wishes and for a truly amazing year! Have a great weekend and we'll see you back here on Monday! xoxo

Rumors flew in anticipation of today's Versace men's show that hotties Chace Crawford and Darren Criss would be WALKING and maybe, just maybe, modeling UNDERWEAR!!! Ajakfhdlkagjfhdjffffffff *over-heating and minor stress-induced stroke* Alas, our girlish dreams were squashed when we learned the boys would just be sitting by the runway, observing from the front row. But hope was not lost because the ever-generous eye candy gods bestowed upon us even more boys to ogle alongside Chace and Darren: Ryan Kwanten, Zachary Quinto, Dwyane Wade, and Carmelo Anthony.

Attractive men who care enough about fashion to travel across the pond for it?! *mega swoon* Our weak little hearts almost couldn't contain all of the joy mounting within them. How prettily they sat all in a row. Smiling, laughing in each other's company. Wearing suits of the finest weaves and cuts, and their every hair expertly groomed. It's the kind of stuff every girl dreams of (and a lot of publicists, too). Blue, black, grey, and white seemed to be the unwritten color palette code for the man-crew, though Darren may have broken it a little wearing those neon pink socks. *sigh* When we were finally able to tear our eyes away from the celeb smorgasbord, Donatella's collection was breathtaking: a smattering of throwback prints, tropical hues, easy tailoring and buttery leather details. But wait. Pump the brakes here for a sec... We looked at the front row. Then back at the runway. Then back at the front row. Did we really believe these guys would ACTUALLY wear this stuff?

Chace Crawford and Ed Westwick at the 7th Annual CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards on Nov. 16.
Photo: Getty Images

We're used to seeing hotties Chace Crawford and Ed Westwick suit up for their Upper East Side roles on Gossip Girl. But at last night's CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards in New York, both boys showed off their real-life style. Chace Crawford wore a black linen suit paired with a slightly unbuttoned shirt and brown lace-up shoes, while Ed Westwick picked a quirky striped blazer with a velvet lapel, black trousers, gray suede boots, and his signature chest-baring shirt. While we liked how both boys ditched the traditional tie for this event, we think Ed Westwick's fearless ensemble, model-y pose, and chiseled jawline wins this fashion face-off. But what do you think?

Gossip Girl's eighth episode of season 4, "Juliet Doesn't Live Here Anymore," premiered last night, and a familiar love triangle reappeared as we saw Nate (Chace Crawford) and Dan (Penn Badgley) still pining for the gorgeous Serena (Blake Lively). Speaking of Serena, she looked gorgeous while getting so much attention in a stunning steel gray Zuhair Murad dress with a lace overlay. Elsewhere, Leighton Meester and Jessica Szohr opted for floral and patterned floor-length frocks by Ralph Lauren and Christian Cota, respectively. The ladies looked elegant in the gowns, but the sleeveless styles and pastel hues reminded us too much of summer, whereas Blake's gray dress was the perfect fit for fall. She definitely wore our favorite look of the episode, but what do you think? See the looks below and tell us who you thought was best dressed.

Gossip Girl's seventh episode of season 4, "War At The Roses," premiered last night, and the episode was all about the birthday of one very stylish young lady — Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester). She killed it style-wise in the episode, wearing amazing looks by Giambattista Valli, Chris Benz, and a gorgeous gown by J. Mendel. Surely, guest stars designer Cynthia Rowley, super stylist Rachel Zoe, and Elle creative director Joe Zee were proud of her fashion choices, too! She was in the prime spot to be our favorite style star this week until Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick) swooped in to steal the spotlight in a three-piece navy suit. With his printed purple tie and vibrant violet pocket square, we found him hard to resist, which is why he's our favorite for Best Dressed last night. But what do you think — who dressed best? See every look below and decide.
