The decision is in. LeBron James is headed BACK to the Cleveland Cavaliers. I'll be honest, I personally am not a LeBron fan (*winces, ducks for cover*), but for the days between announcing he would opt out of his contract with the Miami Heat and play the field as a free agent, I couldn't help feeling I was being held emotionally hostage by the impending move. Was it all a power move to renegotiate with the Heat? Would he hop to yet another team? Was there actually a chance that he could sign with—*GASP*—my Lakers??? Every scenario seemed up for grabs. But the only one that felt "right"—in what felt like everyone's eyes, not just James'—was a grand homecoming to Ohio.
Better start saving your links.
It should come as no surprise that we do a lot of online shopping here at MTV Style. (And I do mean a LOT.) When you cover as much e-commerce ground as we do, keeping track of your links in an effective way is a major priority, and nothing has saved us from endless tab life in the shopping department like Svpply. Our love for the product-collecting platform runs so deep, we've given thanks to it over our plates of turkey, mashed potatoes, and stuffing.
Alas, Svpply was acquired by online retail juggernaut eBay in 2012, and now, we're starting to feel the effects of that business deal (aside from the advent of Svpply-like feeds and collections on eBay): svpply.com and its associated apps—including the oft-overlooked but super-addictive Want app—will ride off into the digital sunset on August 31 (aka IN JUST TWO SHORT MONTHS). If, like us, you're a Svpply fan, we invite you to join us in a moment of silence and an open forum to pay your respects to the beloved custom shopping aggregate.
Ke$ha in her 'C'Mon' video and the shirt she's auctioning off.
Photos: Epic Records/eBay
On last night's My Crazy Beautiful Life, Ke$ha decided to hold an eBay auction, the proceeds of which will benefit The Humane Society of the United States. The items, as Ke$ha describes them, range from things she wore on red carpets to items from her childhood. During the episode, K$ tweeted the link to her eBay store (#technology) which we, of course, immediately clicked on.
While the Hawaiian shirt from her ex-BF and the "hot and dangerous" Herve Leger dress that we got a preview of in the episode aren't on the site (are they sold out already or did she get cold feet?), the plaid shirt from her "C'Mon" video is. The shirt is her "Awful House" uniform, which she wears before she quits to party in a van with people in animal costumes. Considering her love for full-body furries and the name bestowed upon her fans, her decision to donate money to help dogs is, like, such a no-brainer.
Pharrell and Solange at the eBay Today launch
Photo: Getty Images
Solange and Pharrell both have inimitable style, and each artist is almost known as much for their fierce fashion sense as they are for their music. (Almost.) So, it's no wonder that eBay tapped the two (along with a slew of other influential creatives) to curate personal collections for the site's new social element, eBay Today.
Today allows users to create profiles and collections (not unlike Pinterest), filled with inspirational/want-worthy items found around eBay. But the best part is, you can ~actually~ buy the things people post—including items directly plucked up by Knowles and Williams. SO. COOL. To help you get started down the rabbit hole of inspirational shopping, we picked out five of the coolest items from both artists' collections. Check them out after the jump, and visit eBay Today to peep the site's newest feature in full.
Rihanna in Chanel and the collection of swag I keep at my desk.
Photo: Getty/MTV Style
I have a very special relationship with Rihanna merch. First of all, it only seems fair that I tell you that as I write this post I'm wearing a pair of white Skullcandy headphones branded with Rihanna's Unapologetic artwork, and when I write our publishing lineup in the morning, it's in a notebook emblazoned with the same 'R,' all courtesy of the swag bag I got when Mary H.K. Choi and I were
imprisoned on a plane with a bunch of lunatics flown around the world by the nice people at Island Def Jam. I also own a pair of socks with Rihanna's face on them. Basically, if you looked at me right now, you would think I was a major Rihanna stan, and even, maybe, a bit of a creep. But I think I've earned my stripes as a bona-fide member of the Rihanna Navy on the 777 Tour, so whatever haters, dress me up in overall crop tops and RiRi Woo, because I'm about it. As the release of the 777 Tour documentary—also known as the moment you get to see certain MTV Style contributors sleeping with their mouths open on national television—inches ever closer (it airs on Fox, Monday May 6th, lord help us all), and Mary and I prepare to attend Rihanna's Diamonds tour at Barclay's Center, I feel like I need to share some of my Rihanna swag knowledge with you, Internet. Because you're going to want to show your RiRi pride while you're hip-thrusting along to "Phresh Out The Runway" and sobbing to "Stay," trust.
First, can we just say we wish every online shopping experience included GIFs. Not only are they super fun, but they also show the clothes in action, which is super important and basically the thing that's missing when shopping online. Well, Liz Lee knows our pain, which is why she has given MTV Style exclusive gifs from her shoot for her eBay store (launched today!) The.Grays. She's selling everything from limited edition Black Milk bathing suits and leggings, vintage starter jackets (GET AT US), Jeffrey Campbells, vintage boots and denim, and TONS more. She will be adding items throughout the day, so keep checking back as more and more awesomeness goes up. Need even more incentive? A percentage of the proceeds from the sale will be donated to the American Cancer Society in honor of Lee's grandfather Ron Trego. Sick new duds and good deeds? Co-Sign. See more exclusive gifs and hear more about the sale after the jump!
Kanye West's Nike Air Yeezy 2s make a killing on eBay.
Photo: Getty Images
We're barely on the eve of the highly anticipated public release of Kanye West's (sidebar: happy bday boo!) fly new sneaker collab with Nike, the Air Yeezy 2. The sneakers hit shelves June 9 (a.k.a. tomorrow!!), and we're sure the confirmed US release locations are already reinforcing their padlocks, clearing out floor space, and scheduling extra security for the official door openings. After those Foamposite Galaxy riots, you just can't be too careful. Few have been lucky enough to lay a finger on the snakeskin textured upper or molded reptilian heel, but pre-orders for the headline-making sneakers have already found their way onto the eBay auction listings.

Instead of wearing your heart on your sleeve, here's a tip: try showing off your music taste instead. Band tees have always been a closet MVP, and whether you’re the type to buy them in the moment at a show, hit up the thrift store for an oldie but goodie, or scour eBay for a rare original, these t-shirts are the comfiest classic that looks good with literally everything. Want proof? Then get inspired by these rocking girls below.
Carey Mulligan walking the red carpet at the Met Gala.
Looking for a custom-made, one of a kind designer dress for your next event and don't know where to look? EBay, of course! OK, so maybe the online auction mainstay isn't where fabulous ladies go for their couture most of the time, but for the next 10 days you can buy Carey Mulligan
's custom Prada
dress, you know, the AMAZING one she wore to the Met Gala on Monday
, ON EBAY
. The auction started at $500 but, duh
, is increasing at a steady, but not rapid, pace. Anyone who knows the ins and outs of the online sale knows that the action doesn't really start until the auction is drawing to a close, though. Basically, have your refresh buttons armed and ready on May 19th, whether you've got a bid in for the dress or if you're just watching the show. OH and also, the dress is being sold by totally rad charity Oxfam International
, so not only will whoever buys the dress be the bell at whatever ball they've got going on, but they'll also be helping to feel hungry people all over the world! Win-win!
If I were still with my Star Wars-obsessed ex-boyfriend, I'd probably be bidding on this Adidas X Star Wars Stormtrooper Helmet for his Christmas present or a "just because" gift ('cause, you know, I was an excellent girlfriend AND I REALLY HOPE HE'S READING THIS). That's because, despite the fact that the helmet is made using two pairs of Adidas shoes and mouth-breathing into sneaker all day long isn't necessarily my idea of a fabulous time (also, masks are scary, let's face [heh] it), I recognize the unbelievable creativity behind this piece. SO SICK.
Made by Freehand Profit for Star Wars Remix, where artists "remix" elements to create their favorite scenes or characters from the movies, this one-of-a-kind work of art is constructed with Adidas X Star Wars Superskate Mids that are intricately twisted, molded, and shaped to encase an EFX Studio Stormtrooper prop helmet. And it's not merely decorative; the helmet, complete with holes for important stuff such as breathing and vision, is ACTUALLY WEARABLE for occasions like Halloween, sci-fi cons, looking awesome, ruling at life, and vanquishing your foes because their heads have exploded from jealousy. See, these freakin' shoes are basically doing you, like, nine favors. Bid now!
