Happy birthday, Mean Girls! The movie that defined the early aughts and gave the world enough quotes to last a lifetime turns 10 today—which officially makes us feel ancient. Tina Fey's masterpiece has taught us a lot over the past decade, from basic calculus (the limit does not exist!) to the dangers of an all-carb diet. But perhaps most lasting are the various fashion lessons the film doles out. After watching Mean Girls, have you been able to buy a skirt without asking your friends first if it looked good? Or worn track pants on a day other than Friday? I didn't think so.

And let us not forget the most important decree in the Plastics' Rulebook: "On Wednesdays, we wear pink." How appropriate that Mean Girls' 10th birthday falls on a Wednesday! To celebrate this twist of fate, we decided to look back at some of our favorite rosy fashion moments from the past year—as well as a few older, iconic looks that we HAD to include. Pink is just so fetch, don't you agree?
We are fully in prom mode here at MTV Style, even though we attended our own proms many moons ago. While we've brought you dresses for different price points, an entire outfit for under $100, and nail art perfect for your prom night, you may be in the market for something a little more familiar. Some of our fave celebrities wear prom-appropriate dresses on the red carpet all the time, so why not look to them for inspiration? Their duds, of course, tend to be designer and costlier than what most students want to spend on prom looks, so we found some similar alternatives. Peep them all below!

Lupita Nyong'o was the queen of the red carpet this year, especially at the Academy Awards, where she wore this "Nairobi Blue" Prada gown. The best part of Lupita's dress, as Emma Stone is well aware, is the swingy skirt. This dress from Nordstrom ($298) nails the color and the flowy skirt, but provides more coverage on top. You will not be able to stop twirling—what could be better?
Here at MTV Style we get really excited when the worlds of music and fashion meet, so Coachella is like a homecoming of sorts, where everyone tries a little harder and flaunts their style, whether they’re turning up their usual look or testing out some riskier #FASHUN. With a star-studded lineup and killer surprise guest list, it’s safe to say that this year Coachella had some of its most eye-catching moments yet—and this was only Weekend One.

Katy Perry didn’t perform but she was (easily) spotted around the festival all weekend long—who could miss her with that new slime-green hair? Obv, Katy didn’t wear a flower crown; she already had a lot going on in the hair department. Katy showed that her green 'do is actually more versatile than you’d think, pairing it with a very ladylike black-and-white ensemble and a turquoise pencil skirt and matching crop top.
In case you somehow missed Ellie Goulding looking like a total goddess both on stage and off last night at the 2014 MTV Movie Awards, you should peep her red-carpet steez and her equally gorgeous performance look. We were lucky enough to get behind-the-scenes photos of her getting ready process and, as expected, she looks just as calm, collected, and glamorous backstage. Check out our exclusive photos, including one that shows how she gets her perfect 'do!

Like most people, before Ellie puts her gown on, she lounges seemingly nude on a fur-lined blanket. Do you relax in clothing or on a non-furry blanket? You're doing it wrong. Sorry.
Whoa. We were expecting some memorable looks from the 2014 MTV Movie Awards—there are always a few—but what we weren't expecting was for all our faves to look so ***flawless. Lots of colors, dresses with pockets, and robes (JK, there was only one of those) that we luhhhve. Below are the ladies we thought totally nailed it—check 'em out!

We've long praised Lupita Nyong'o for her love of color and wearing every shade of the rainbow during awards season, so we were thrilled when we saw that tonight she was wearing all of them, at the same time. It's official: Lupita can wear any and all colors and look amazing. We bow down.

If you didn't already think Ellie Goulding was an angel, you will after you see what she wore tonight to the MTV Movie Awards. As the stars began to filter down the red carpet during the broadcast's pre-show, the clouds parted and a beautiful vision in all-white appeared in the distance. Was it a goddess? Good guess, but no—it was Ellie. She stunned in a floor-length Armani gown with peekaboo cutouts and adorable (and practical!) pockets. The dress was paired with strappy black Jimmy Choos and flowing blonde hair for days.

It's no secret that Ellie Goulding's style is on point. As a quick scroll through her frequently updated Instagram will tell you, the singer's fashion sense is the perfect combination of leather pieces, streetwear, and, like, totally elegant gowns. Her performance outfits often pair shorts and crop tops, but she looks equally as comfortable in a floor-length number at more formal events. Cosmopolitan's spread featuring Ellie totally nails her natural tough-yet-feminine vibe and puts her in pieces we can totally see her wearing IRL.
This peach Gucci dress, for example, shows off some cleavage and leg, and has black accents. It goes perfectly with her always expertly mussed hair—what doesn't, though?—and would be perfect for, IDK, something like the 2014 MTV Movie Awards. Oh, yeah, she's performing at the awards on Sunday. Will she wear one of these dresses? She totally should, IMHO!

Only two days until Divergent, y'all! Gather your tent, sleeping bags, and tinned food because you better start camping out now. You can borrow the essentials from Shailene Woodley, if you need to. I'm sure she's already camping out in front of a theater, but not for the movie, just cause that's how she lives her life, man. She wouldn't need to wait to see the movie, anyway—she saw it last night at the L.A. premiere (also because she was there during filming, etc.), where she wore a beaded, floor-length, one shoulder Fall 2010 Elie Saab gown. It was not camping appropriate, but as usual, she looked like an Earthy goddess.
Kiernan Shipka and Zoe Kravitz opted for shorter Spring 2014 collection dresses—Kiernan in Valentino and Zoe in Balenciaga. Both also wore fall/winter/spring/summer's hottest beauty trend: strong brows. Teach me your ways, ladies. I want to throw my hat into the bold brow ring, but I need a trainer. Hit me up if you're interested!
Theo James, Shailene Woodley, Ellie Goulding, and Christina Garibaldi on the set of MTV First.
In case you missed it, we played host to Ellie Goulding, Shailene Woodley, and Theo James last night for a special Divergent-themed edition of MTV First. We watched the premiere of Ellie's "Beating Heart" music video, played a few rounds of "Would You Rather," and discussed the art of kissing. What we didn't expect to get was a bit of beauty advice courtesy of Miss Goulding.
