Emma's new 'do.

Hey, girl, HEY. While most stylists might advise you against a drastic 'do before a big event, Emma Roberts' stunning asymmetrical bob pretty much stole the show—in the best way possible—at Elle's Women in Television Celebration last night. It reminds me of the time my stylist/grandmother begged me not to shave off my bangs in the shower before the first day of sixth grade. I did it anyway, obviously, and it debuted to less than glowing reviews. Thankfully, Emma's hair faired WAY better. In the words of Ron Burgundy, "I mean, that thing's good. I wanna be friends with it."
While the People's Choice Awards may have ~officially~ kicked off the 2014 awards season, tonight's Golden Globes really catapulted the year of red carpet fashion into high gear. We pulled out six well-heeled ladies from the 2014 PCAs, but now, we're bringing you a list of 10 for the Globes (though, TBH, we were tempted to just crown Lupita Nyong'o THE best dressed and go home, because girl SHUT IT DOWN).

I mean, do I really need to explain this decision? The 12 Years A Slave actress showed up EARLY to the Golden Globes red carpet wearing Ralph Lauren, and even well before most of the attendees arrived, she had clinched her position as the best dressed lady of the night. It's solid but not boring thanks to that almost-neon red hue. It's body-conscious without looking grossly painted on, and those classic RL clean lines are softened by her warm, beaming smile. With its straight off-the-shoulder neckline and long cape, the gown is definitely fashion forward, but this is also 100% the kind of timeless ensemble that we'll be looking back fondly on for YEARS. (P.S. If this is what she pulls out for the Globes, we can't WAIT to see what she whips out for the Oscars.)

Having Halloween on a Wednesday means that the holiday festivities have the potential to stretch out over an entire week. Not only does this mean candy, candy, and MORE candy, but it also means that you have the opportunity for not just one but many costumes. You may have rocked your showstopping Halloween look on Friday or Saturday past, but there is still ACTUAL Halloween to worry about. If you need some inspiration, celebs are a great place to look for costume ideas. We especially loved Lucy Hale's technicolor unicorn costume, complete with horn, rainbow mane and furry boots. This look is part "My Little Pony" and party candy raver, and avoids the "sexy" costume cliche by virtue of being so totally over the top. Lucy is committed, and we're into it.

Well, we're officially jealous of the West Coast. Yesterday, celebs, designers, and artists gathered together for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund event at the Chateau Marmont in L.A. looking as if winter weren't just a month away (or mere days if you count the Frankenstorm coming our way. Yipes!). Jaime King, Katy Perry, Emma Roberts, and Mandy Moore all showed up sporting super summery graphic print frocks that are seriously making us miss those warm summer days. Jaime wore a crimson red paisley print peplum Giambattista Valli Resort 2013 dress with a brown Valentino clutch and matching shoes. She finished her look with a killer gold cuff, bold red lips and soft, blonde waves. PERF!
Emma Roberts wears the Nanette Lepore sunglasses she inspired.

It seems like every day there's a new designer x celebrity collaboration, but less ubiquitous are the moments when a star takes the backseat and serves as the creative inspiration and, in return, the promotional vehicle for a line or an individual piece. Such is the case with Emma Roberts and the limited edition sunglasses Nanette Lepore designed for her. Last night was the official launch of the Emma-inspired shades, and Roberts, Lepore, and Vogue Eyewear celebrated in style with an intimate party on the VIP floor of the 5th Avenue Sunglass Hut. (Yes, that's a thing that exists, and we have the pictures to prove it.) We caught up with Emma herself to get her reaction to the finished product and serving as Nanette's design inspiration.

We love Emma Roberts. We love Nanette Lepore. So what happens when two of our favorite people combine? Just take a look at the sketch of these amazing sunglasses above, and you'll see that it's a total match made in creative heaven (seriously, Cupid would be jealous he didn't think of it first!). Yep, Nanette Lepore- known and beloved for flirty, girly dresses- has just crafted her first style of sunglasses inspired by none other than Emma herself. The pair of cat-eye frames is the latest addition to the VOGUE Eyewear Designer Series, and is inspired by retro Twenties glamour with a modern twist. As Nanette tells WWD of her 21-year-old actress muse, “She’s chic, youthful and confident in her style." Considering Emma's ability to switch from rocker to Old Hollywood to uber-trendy at the drop of a hat, who's going to argue with that?
Here's the thing about band tees: it's impossible to have too many of them, AND they never go out of style. Okay, so maybe these are just our excuses for constantly adding music t-shirts (both vintage and new) to our overflowing stockpile, but hey- we're obviously not the only ones. Rihanna, Willow Smith,Taylor Momsen, and about a zillion other cool kids have been running around in the basics for a while now, and Emma Roberts is the latest celeb to hop on board. We spotted the actress wearing a Velvet Underground t-shirt while filming her new movie Empire State in- where else?- New York.
Emma Roberts swaps out her simple blonde bob for honey-colored bangs.
Sorry for that pun, we just couldn't resist! Emma Roberts has bangs! The actress debuted her new coif last night at an event for the Seventeen Magazine "Pretty Amazing" Contest finalists. The look, which is quite a departure from Emma's super simple bob, features eyebrow covering fringe and flippy, just above shoulder-length layers. She paired her new cut with minimal makeup- a simple eye and basically bare lip -and a sequined floral top, light wash jeans and platform pumps. We think there's something a little early 2000's about this look, no? As any fan of Zooey Deschanel will tell you, thick, heavy bangs have been all the rage for awhile now, but they don't always work for every face or hair type. The key is to go with a style that works with your face shape- not everyone can wear blunt, straight across bangs, some of us need bangs that follow the natural curve of our face a little more. Emma's bangs are quite long, and definitely add a much lighter, more youthful vibe to her overall look.
Fact: you don’t dress for the Met Gala to blend in. This year alone we spotted head-to-toe sequins, Barbie doll frocks, and even textured crocodile (ahem, Rihanna)...so needless to say, anyone who’s lucky enough to score an invite tries her absolute hardest to stand out from the rest of the fashion pack. But just like any big event, there were some major trends of the night- check out the three biggest below.
Camilla Belle, Lana Del Rey, and Jessica Alba wear dramatic lipstick to the 2012 Met Gala.

Camilla Belle reached glamazon status in her slinky beaded Ralph Lauren gown, but the real secret weapon to the actress’s ‘20s-inspired look? Her ultra-bold, wine-hued lipstick, which perfectly complemented her almond eyes and trademark full brows. She's not the only one who channeled Old Hollywood by pairing dark lips with shimmery metallic dresses; it's well-tread beauty territory, and we couldn't be happier. Lana Del Rey played up her music industry darling rep with her Altuzarra dress (and cape!), which strikingly offset her burgundy lipstick and swoop of black liner. But here's proof you don't have to retire your ruby red shade just yet: Jessica Alba looked to the brighter side with a cherry-tinted lipstick in her Michael Kors gown- just as dramatic, still just as gorgeous as the rest.

Every winter when the Sundance Film Festival rolls around, we usually spot celebs bundled up in same old puffy coats, furry hats, and over-sized knit sweaters. Even Emma Roberts fell victim to the one-trick-pony jeans and cropped jacket ensemble last year, but this season she stepped up her style game (and stayed warm) in a long-sleeved pansy-printed jersey bodycon dress from Topshop. Em's dress has a plain black palette behind the floral print, but you can snatch up the same thing with neon stripes for only $60 on Topshop right this second! Talk about an easy way to brighten a cold winter day.
